My first Which Wich sandwich. Basic turkey with side of fried
David T.

First time eating here. The staff was so friendly and walked me through the process. As far as sandwich shop chains, this ranks as one of the best. Having lived in Chicago for four years, I am always searching for a good Italian beef sandwich. I asked the staff about theirs on the menu and they said it probably wouldn't live up to what I am used to. I was impressed with them sharing some honest opinions. I ended up going with a pretty basic turkey sandwich with lettuce, tomato, and pickles on a whole wheat bun with yellow mustard and plain mayo. Paired it with plain fries and a diet Pepsi. Tasted fresh and the fries were perfectly cooked.

There used to be a Which Wich shop much closer to where I live, but that place closed a long time ago so this UTC location was the nearest one. I arrived right before they shut down at 7 pm even though the hours on the Yelp listing said the closing time was 8:30 pm. I still enjoy their ordering process in which you pick a bag that matches the featured protein/veggie and then you use a Sharpie marker to indicate which toppings you want to be added to your sandwich. The bag is then handed over to the cashier who rings up your order before passing it on to the sandwich assembler. What was new on the menu board was a set of Fanatic Favorites that I had not seen in the past. Varieties like Banh Mi, Philly Cheesesteak, Gyro, and Meatball Hero were available as knockoffs of some classic combinations. I picked one large sandwich each from the Ham Wiches and Turkey Wiches categories. The first was a Cordon Bleu made up of thinly sliced ham and chicken. The second was a Thank You Turkey made up of thinly sliced turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sauce. I asked for white bread for each along with provolone cheese, bell peppers, caramelized onions, pickles, mushrooms, tomatoes, cucumbers, spinach, black olives, light mayonnaise, and honey mustard. The bread was really soft, more so than what I had remembered previously. All of the ingredients were neatly packed in. The price for these 10" sandwiches had definitely increased as they were not above $10 at my last visit a few years ago. The quality and quantity of ingredients in the sandwiches were sufficient enough to earn a four star rating.

I normally love Which Wich, but I guess I'm just not a fan of this location.. Service was not the friendliest. Asked for wheat but received white bread. Sandwich was soggy. Forgot the barbecue sauce. Super stingy on the toppings (crispy onion strings, slaw, and mushrooms), but added unasked for olives? However, the milkshake will always be my favorite thing about this place! Strawberry milkshake is a MUST TRY. Perfect consistency to down it, versus other places like In-N-Out that make it too thick. AMAZING. The milkshake MAKES this place.

NO MAYO, Lil' Deez, TWICE.
Derek L.

This review is for Lil' Deez -- the sandwich maker that can't read so good, who works at what is now maybe the worst sandwich shop around by removing customization. WTF? After picking up the sandwich I had ordered ahead, I got home to find it smothered in mayo. I had requested other items on the sandwich (the way it was until sometime in the last 3 weeks) and when I returned to have my sandwich re-made, Lil' Deez aggressively informed me that it's no longer BYO & the sandwich was correct. I let him know that was fine, but it was still wrong, because it says 'No mayo', TWICE. Lil' Deez got angry and when I sat down to wait for my new sandwich, I was loudly asked what I wanted on it, while all the ingredients were annoyingly rattled off. I told him however it came was fine, just no mayo. After he slapped my sandwich down on the counter, proudly announcing that my sandwich was ready, I asked him if there was a problem. After yelling & flipping me off, I asked if there was anything he'd like to discuss with me where the air was fresher & the sound of zero orders wasn't so prevalent. Needless to say, the other employees held him back as he continued to yell and flip me off. It's unfortunate, because I could've shown him some breathing techniques that would've calmed him down. I'd say maybe next time, but I definitely won't be returning. I probably won't be returning to any other locations, either, since they removed BYO from the wicked. What's the point of a sandwich shop if you can't customize your sandwich? Look at this pathetic sandwich that is half lettuce! This is a $17 sandwich, FYI. For Lil' Deez -- you have my number on the receipt you kept, feel free to reach out if you want to learn those breathing techniques I offered to show you.

I think I was sitting in the store for at least 30 minutes while a family member waited in our car and watched several people park, get their orders and leave. Two people who ordered after us received their food before we did. I finally stood up and only then did an associate crabbily pack up our order and give it to us. When we first arrived, no one even showed up at the counter for at least five minutes. There was another customer waiting behind us as well. My sandwich (Happy Hippie) was not very good...insubstantial and put together in a blah manner. A family member who had the "not so fried chicken sandwich" said it was too salty. I paid $62 for this order (with a tip, which I had added before the long wait...) It obviously wasn't a good value, This is a beautiful and clean store but a general lack of enthusiasm from the associates, inconsistent customer service, high prices, and mediocre quality food will dissuade me from making any future visits to this location.

BOARD AND BREW @ UTC LA JOLLA…read more Parking is free for the first hour since this location is inside the UTC La Jolla Mall. Just keep that in mind if you're planning to spend more time at the mall or eat at one of the restaurants here. I've been to Board & Brew many times, and I usually go to the Pacific Beach location because it's right by the beach and the perfect place to grab a sandwich. This time, I was craving one and decided to stop by the UTC location. One thing I absolutely love about Board & Brew is their signature sauce. There's just something about it, it's tangy, flavorful, and honestly one of my favorite sandwich sauces. I came here with a friend who had been wanting to try Board & Brew since it's a San Diego-based chain, and she really enjoyed it too. The ordering process is simple. You walk in, look over the menu, and choose between their hot or cold sandwiches. My go-to is always the Turkey Club. The bread is so soft, and I love the classic combination of turkey and bacon. The sandwiches are usually around $12-13, which I think is a fair price considering how big they are. One sandwich is definitely enough to fill one person up. I always ask for extra sauce, and this location was super generous with it, which I really appreciated since some other locations charge for extras. This restaurant is a bit smaller than some of the other Board & Brew locations I've visited, but it still had a great atmosphere. The staff were friendly, the service was fast, the restroom was clean, and because it's inside the mall, the environment feels lively and energetic. Overall, I had a really great experience and would definitely come back.

This shop on Avenida De La Playa, which is the Main Street closed off from cars, so people can walk freely, but parking is a challenge. The cheese shop can't be missed, with the green ivy covered store front. It's standing round only, no seating inside but limited outside seating. You order from the counter and they bring your order to you if you decide to sit outside. I selected the popular sandwich: Turkey, Jack Cheese and Avocado on sourdough bread with every veggie: lettuce, tomato, red onion was all it had. Just baked from the oven were the famous oatmeal cookies in caramel and chocolate, looked so yummy I didn't order any but the guy behind the counter complementary gifted a pair to me, so nice, friendly and cool!! Inside the shop didn't appear clean, I would describe the ambiance as divey. Sat outside and shortly my order was presented nicely wrapped sandwich and warm cookies. Took pics and took a bite and my consensus is that I was not a fan of this sandwich because I really prefer smoked turkey and not plain turkey. The sandwich looked subpar, the layering of ingredients weren't assembled as aesthetically layered as it can be and tasted just ok. My pup usually doesn't like smoked turkey or unfresh meats but she liked this plain roast turkey, which means it's more likely fresh and pass her approval. She also ate the contents of the sandwich sans the bread and onions of course. The oatmeal cookies were a real treat and lived up to the hype, kind of gooey, yummy and good for you...hence oats is fiber! As a cheese aficionado, this shop is not really a cheese shop with no abundant cheese selections. The shop should just be named sandwich shop, since sandwiches and candies seem to be their cash cows. If you're looking for a cheese shop, this isn't the place, but it might the place for a sandwich. Recommend
