I usually don't bother reviewing fast food places since the experience is pretty standard unless something really bad happens that needs to be changed. But I wanted to give credit to this McDonald's because they actually made my mobile order pickup super easy. Sometimes my family orders for me and just gives me the code. Other locations gave me issues like insisting the phone that placed the order needs to be physically there, or simply claiming they can't find it in the system despite me showing a screenshot with confirmation of payment, etc. This location didn't give me any hassle at all. I gave them the code, they grabbed my order, made sure everything was right, and I drove off. It was late at night, hardly anyone was in the drive-thru, and the lane was super clean. I also liked that they had a real person taking my order instead of that AI voice some locations use now, it just felt more efficient and less awkward. It's a small thing, but when you've had enough frustrating experiences elsewhere, you appreciate when a place just makes it simple. Not exactly a 5-star experience, but definitely a solid one with no complaints. Typically I would rate fast food restaurants 3 Star if it was just standard service, but I'll give them a 4 Star for just making it easy. read more

DO NOT EVER GO TO THIS LOCATION!!! The service at this McDs is atrocious! Why is it ALWAYS so slow? Employees are not trained, lazy and the kitchen is severely understaffed always! I was there 6/12 Friday morning at 10:20 a.m. along with a Door Dash driver. After I placed my order (after having to yell at the lazy employee to take the order at the register because I had a coupon and could not use the kiosk), the Door Dash guy said he had been waiting 30 minutes and counting for a small order to pick up! When we received our food, we were short on dipping sauces for the nuggets, and my burger was missing entirely. I returned to the window and said "excuse me" several times, but the staff continued to ignore me. When an employee finally came back, I informed her that my burger was missing. She then asked for my bag and said it was so she could put the burger in it. I was confused as to why my bag was needed for that. Additionally, I requested a receipt but was never provided one. I haven't been to a McDonald's for at least 5 years. I'm traveling for work and needed a quick breakfast. This location is a 5 minute walk from my hotel. I used that big screen ordering machine, bought a steak and egg bagel, smoothie, and bottle of water. Waited about 7 minutes and my number was called. Sorry, the smoothie machine is broken. How about a mocha coffee instead. One thing I remember in my history of going to McDonald's was the 50% chance that the shake machine would be broken. Has this plague now hit the Smoothie machines or are employees to overburdened to deal with them? I walk back to my hotel and eat on the balcony. A Luke warm bite of my sandwich. Another bite...oh that has a touch of chill. Such a bad experience and I'll guess it will be at least another 5 years before I try the Golden Arches again. Conveniently located right off the freeway and near my hotel, this McD is nice. It is one of the larger ones. The decor is modern. The place is clean. I placed an order through the app. The food wasn't ready when I arrived. Service was very good though. I made another order through the app for the 6.50 big Mac combo and it was ready within minutes. I come here occasionally to order takeout since this McDonald's is on my way home. I used the McDonald's app to order so that I can get deals, such as free fries and buy one get one free. Also I don't need to leave my car and can just wait at the curbside for my order. With the heavy foot traffic at this location, I am surprised that it is always very clean when I go in and pick up orders sometimes. This location is busy during breakfast and lunch time whenever I visit. My order was always assembled quickly and double checked. The staff is always courteous. Really don't understand why there are so many negative reviews when the restaurant looks to have good business. By the way, they are currently short staffed and encouraging patrons to use the automated order machines. I recommend to use the McDonald's App. read more

This is a modern adult-oriented McDonald's location (no playground) that's right off the I-805 and in an area dense with office buildings. At lunch on work days it can get pretty busy, but at most other times you can have the dining room mostly to yourself (but not the drive thru). There has been turnover here in the staff like with many small businesses as of late. Still a nice McDonald's to visit. Recommend using mobile order or the kiosks in the store because most McDonald's ignore the cash register these days, and this location is no different. read more

Date of visit: January 3, 2018 - and first review of my 2018 Yelp 100 Challenge! So, my first review of 2018, and you're probably wondering why it's for a McDonald's location. Well, not only is it cleaner than most other locales (no doubt due to the biotech clientele that's in the area), as of this writing, they still had the McRib! Plus, their Dollar Menu had finally gone live... My order of the McRib combo along with a $2 two-piece Buttermilk Chicken Tenders filled me up quite nicely; the McRib patty was pretty tender and not too messy with the barbecue sauce, and McD's has a winner with those crispy Buttermilk Chicken Tenders (especially with the new Signature Sauce). I almost hate to admit it, but the venerable Chicken McNugget now has a new contender! What makes this McD's location memorable is that it recently went through an remodel and upgrade... and by that, not only were there digital touchscreens on a couple of the booths where one can play games, there's also digital kiosks where one can place their order. While nice and flashy, it also means no ordering at the counter any more - meaning that the restaurant can get very quiet during off-peak hours. And with no music or TV on for ambiance, the silence can be disquieting (especially as this location is a bit out of the way). Out of the two McDonald's locations in Mira Mesa/Sorrento Valley, this one is my favorite. Make sure to do those customer surveys on your receipt, as they're good for a FREE McDouble! read more

The parking lot for this place was kind of tucked up on a hill, so it's not quite visible from Mira Mesa Blvd. I'm not sure what was going on, but that parking lot was practically empty even though that lot was shared with other restaurants and businesses. There were a few customers inside, but it was pretty quiet. There were no cashiers at the counter with signs suggesting that customers use one of the kiosks to place an order. I had no problems since I placed my order on the mobile app. They appeared to be shorthanded as I only saw 2 employees and they were scrambling around the entire time trying to fulfill each order. read more

After an evening of nearly no sleep in preparation for a day trip to Disneyland, my mind and body needed a pick me up in the form of a McCafe coffee from McDonald's. The one nearest was next to the highway so we decided to stop by for some coffee and grub to get ourselves going on the day. There was a special on sausage McMuffins with egg so we got a pair of those with our coffee. There wasn't anything particularly wrong with the sandwiches and try really hit the spot. However, both of our coffees were terrible. My friend's cappuccino was horribly watery and my hazelnut iced coffee was so under filled that there was nearly an inch of lip on the untouched cup. I found it too much of a hassle to complain about it there since we were on a very tight time table, so we took off and headed toward happier places. In fact, it would be toward the "happiest place on Earth". My only other experience with this McDonald's was having to sue them over an accident where a ceiling tile fell on me and dumped a half gallon of water on my laptop, essentially destroying it. While the staff was helpful back then, this particular visit was less than satisfactory. Fool me twice, shame on me. I definitely won't be back.
