Weren't sure the Subway was open but we decided to give it a try, since we just wanted a sandwich on the run. Standard Subway layout and setup. No one was in the place other than the single employee behind the counter; it seemed dead. The server followed the script and was responsive to questions but seemed almost bored, perhaps wishing he were elsewhere. Food was to Subway standard and at a reasonable price for the area. Could have sat at a table inside but the vibe sort of creeped us out, so we chose to take the food out and eat elsewhere. Horrible service, the worker Jose is very unprofessional. He acts like he doesn't want to be there and it is such an inconvenience to be ordering food. I was also told he couldn't find the trays for nachos but he could make them on paper which he said he didn't know how it would turn out. He then poured it in a bowl and this doesn't seem up to par for subway standards. I don't think corporate would appreciate how he is representing their company in this way. Also the hours on the door say they close at 9pm and my family came in at 8pm and we were told we couldn't eat inside because he cleaned already and he doesn't want to clean again, which was in a very rude way. He also had half the lights off like he didn't want customers to come in, which that should be how they make their money. This is a great location, but I've heard to many complaints, and now I understand why. I won't be back or recommend this place until there are changes. read more

Subway Weird. Both days we were there. An employee named Matthew may have something going on that requires some sensitivity but that does not give subway the right to allow their employees to act like that.... My adult son has severe social Anxieties and autism... Matthew stared at him and asked him if he was okay... accusingly. Then quit making my sandwich to glare at him with disdain and disgust then laugh to himself... at my son. Also, I asked for gluten free bread and he said well you should have told me and goes to the back room. Comes out and I say I want tuna. He starts putting it on and runs out. Tells the lady who goes to the back and comes out and says, "we don't have anymore. Just spread it out". She she brings a (clean?) knife over and does it for him. They thin it out enough to fit the sandwich. I felt like I was on candid camera or something. There was literally just a small amount of tuna on the bread. Then he was rude and in a hurry asking what else... what else (did I want on my sandwich). The sandwich was a mess. Veggies on top of bread and falling out. He doesn't seem very clean or kind. My son actually made me wait to post my review because he was afraid the guy watched where we were going (hotel across the street). I don't write reviews often, but as a member of such a welcoming and friendly community, it is a shame to have a restaurant with such terrible customer service. The female employee with long gray hair could use a few pointers in customer service and being polite. When asking for extra olives, her coworker added them. She looked at me and said "I would've said no." I asked why, she said she's already put too many, I would've charged you for a whole can." Mind you all I wanted on my sandwich was olives and lettuce. Then she proceeded to tell me how olives are disgusting and that they add no taste to the sandwich, which is why subway instructs them to only put 6 olives on the sandwich. The scenario was completely unexpected. We had just finished a magnificent three hour ride on the Manitou Springs & Pike's Peak Cog Railway to the top of Pike's Peak. Feeling rejuvenated and great, we were plunged into traffic congestion along the narrow road leading to the three block downtown area. Hungry and seeking a comfortable place to organize our thoughts, we found a parking situation which would have been easier in midtown Manhattan. I was feeling too upbeat to deal with it. Now heading back to our motel in Colorado Springs, we were determined to grab a quick lunch at the first eatery which appeared credible. There, ahead of us, was a Subway with an empty parking lot. Service at this particular location was more efficient than what I've experienced at most Subways-- a chain that I generally like. Missing were the whining barrage of questions and endless repetitions; they got it right the first time. As icing on the cake, the bathrooms weren't disgusting. We pleasantly ate, and were back on the road, before we would have found a parking space in downtown Manitou Springs. read more

I used to love this place to my very core, but after the coolest worker was lost tragically, everything went down hill from there, the owner choosing stuck up strangers rather than supporting Manitou high school and continuing with those students. After trying to get water for my dog, and told I had to buy something, I bought a cookie I didn't want to eat because my dog really needed water. But when I asked for the cookie and water cup, and asked the older female sever to choose the cookie for me, she said no in the rudest way I've been treated in manitou, telling me she can't choose for me, she doesn't do that, and that I have to make up my own mind. After deciding, and taking my cookie, she said "you're a feisty little boy" to me as I walked away, in such an insulting manner. I just left, I've been going here for years, but whatever you're doing, has ruined the place, I miss my after school sandwich shop, but I'd rather support a local business, and everyone knows that the ice cream doesn't make it local. read more

We went to this subway to get some ice cream. We are new to the area and didn't check the reviews before we went. It's a Subway we thought. Everything should be fine. Wrong! We asked for a sample of an ice cream flavor and was told that they weren't allowed to give out samples. That's ok. From there it all went down hill. Shianne (if that's her real name) was the worker there. She was VERY rude. Told me that I was the one being rude. I asked for the manager "I am the manager" was her answer. Dan, the manager makes this place! He is very friendly. We walked in with a big group this morning for breakfast. He had the subs done in no time and they were clean! He also got rid of a fly and changed his gloves. That stood out to me. He cares about this place, you can tell. We've travelled from Illinois and we don't have a subway like this at home! I take my highschool and elementary age daughters here often after school. The younger workers have always been wonderful. Today my 14 year old went to grab a sandwich after school/between practices and was given a coupon from her teacher that was handing them out to all the kids. She attempted to use it to help buy a friend a sandwich and was yelled at so badly by the female owner that the lady in front of her felt so bad and ended up buying her food just due to the way she was treated. They have lost our business. My daughter told me the owner attempted to apologize but she(my daughter) was still so shook hours later, that she was in tears talking about it. I work in the customer service field of healthcare and manage a large program myself and am absolutely appalled that the owner would treat customers that way...not to mention a child... in front of their staff. Really really disappointing situation. Have never written a negative review, but this situation regarding the female owner of this store, was more than reason. After berating a child, in front of staff and other customers, this individual should be removed immediately. I will be taking this higher up as well as this store is used primarily by school aged kids during and after school. read more
