Subway has been on an improvement streak. I've been here a few times recently and I'm digging it again. We'll see what happens when Jersey Mike's opens up even closer, but for now, I can get my hoagie fix. First, it was like 9:50p and they were closing at 10p. I flew in late from a terrible airport with no open food options, and was starving. Not to mention my arms were tired... :) Anyway, the girl working probably should have ran to the back when I burst through the door grunting out my order in hunger. She was cleaning up when I arrived and smiled and took my order as if they were going to be open for a few more hours. All of the toppings were covered and she gladly uncovered them and made this tired, hangry traveller happy by giving him a hero with 12 inches of deliciousness. Second, I tried the App which I thought would be a huge pain, but the app was so easy to use and the only way to get the buy 1 get one half off promotion. I ordered, they took Apple Pay, and I drove to this Subway and my order was ready for me, I drove home and ate and enjoyed. Everyone enjoyed their hoagies and grinders! (no navy beans or sloppy Joe's though). Mrs. S even took a bite of mine (FYI, she hates Subway), and said it was pretty good for subway. They've upgraded some of their meats and I was enticed by their capicola addition and it was pretty tasty. The Hearty Grain bread was fresh and delicious too. Subway is a long-established business that I would classify as kind of a fast food version of a submarine sandwich. While it might seem initially dismissive in its description, I do not feel that it is insultive and I also feel that is a very appropriate description. Subway will never be the best sub shop around. But it is not meant to be the best sub shop around. It is meant to offer a consistent product and they count on brand recognition keep customers coming in. Let's look at McDonalds. Was it the best burger? No, but people knew the brand and that one time it was the biggest food franchise in the world. Subway banks on this same formula. This particular location is in Avalon Park and there is plenty of parking because of the Publix shopping plaza parking area that it shares with the supermarket and other businesses. Love them or hate them, Subway is a quick place to grab a sub. With only one person in line in front of me, service was quick and I was out the door with a sub in under 3 minutes. All the veg were fresh which was great. My only complaint really is I ordered one of those new freshly sliced meats with "more meat" per sandwich. One, they don't actually slice the meat in front of you. So you kind of just have to trust them that the meat was "freshly sliced" and not un-freshly sliced 3 days ago. Seems like a very odd selling point when they are clearly trying to compete with Jersey Mikes. Dunno if this is just this store or all stores. Next, the "extra" meat was very much less than extra. And wow if that's double cheese, I hate to see what single cheese looks like. So the morale of the story is it's probably fresh and pay extra for actual extra meat and cheese because the standard subs are a bit skimpy. read more

Subway is a convenient place to grab a sandwich when you are in a hurry, getting "Fast Food" and trying to not consume a whole lot of calories and carbs. Of course, like anything, if you decide to "do the works" and put every dressing on site, well you're not doing yourself a favor. But if you can eat healthier options here and flavorful food. This facility in particular is very clean, provides good customer service with the additional bonus of being pretty fast while preparing your food. It's always good to consider their "Sandwich of the day offer" for under $4.00 (if you include tax). This place is consistent and very clean. I have a love hate relationship with Subways due to their cleanliness but in the 8+ years I have lived in Avalon Park I can tell you this location is super clean. I go at least once every couple of weeks and it's just great. The service is great, the staff has a great attitude and they pay attention to detail. Subway sandwiches are always good so I won't comment on that as much. All in all this is a great location. read more

We decided against better judgement to order from this location again. Last time they gave us a sandwich with so much oil it was completely inedible. Today we ordered on the app for contact less curbside. Rolled up, hit "I'm here" on the app. Watched the guy bring sandwiches out the door, go back inside. I figured maybe he forgot the drinks (he didn't have any with him). Waited 10minutes before going inside to figure out why he never came back. I was asked if I was picking up, I said I was supposed to have contact less curbside, he said I was parked on the wrong side. Note: there is no where on the app or door of the building that says where curbside pick up is. I said he came outside and saw us, to which he rudely replied "if I saw you I would've came to you" So I get my bag and ask for the correct chips as I indicated in my order notes. He pointed me to the cart and said I could change them. I was trying to avoid touching multiple bags of chips that other patrons will now pick up, but whatever. Then I have to ask for my cups because I had them on my order as well. Every time we come to this location it's nothing but problems met with crappy attitudes by the employees. I work nearby in the same plaza, and the people who work there are really nice and laid back. Their subs are also pretty good, no complaints there! The cleanliness is up to snuff as well. One of the better Subways I've been to, for sure! read more

This subway is a good small town stop for sandwiches. One gripe I have is the staff never seems to be in a hurry no matter the shift. Not that they are ridiculously slow but the pace is noticeably less then most other subway locations in the area. They also seem to have issues getting kids meals right. It is Sub Ways for goodness sake, not a 5 star restaurant. Honestly, I don't understand the prior two gripes, every time I go there they are fast and extremely nice. I guess the key is to stand back away from the line and look at the menu, when you decide what you want, then walk up and stand in line. This place is always extremely packed and very busy! I think that their service is very good overall though. The girls that they have working there are the best employees because every time i go in there all i see is the guys in the back or out front on their phones and all of the girls are just doing all of the work! So my suggestion is to make sure to say something to them because I have tried to let the manger know and I never catch him on duty. I am a regular and hate when the girls arent there helping out because those guys are lazy and slow which is why they probably get so busy and rushed all of the time.
