This place is a total bust. Not only was it some of the worst service I've ever had, my steak and cheese sandwich had about 1/3rd as much meat as I am used to. The sandwich was also left in the toaster for too long and the outside of the bread became quite hard. It's Subway. It's cheap and my expectations are routinely low. That said, even grading on the fast-food curve this was a complete disappointment. If you're looking for value, go to one of the several other sandwich shops nearby. I asked for the 5 dollar footlong spicy Italian sandwich. However the lady is just piece of shit not knowing, there is that order such existed. Ugh..... She kept saying, there is no 5 dollar something something shit. Only mentioning about meatball sandwich. Fuck that like you think I would just came in order that instead. Shiiit!!! If you have coupons or get the coupons via Subway text, do not attempt to use them here. I've been coming to this Subway since April 2015 and I'll now go the extra couple of blocks to the Battery St. location as they know how to use a computer! New management took over about a year ago and for awhile I stopped using the coupons that Subway themselves text to me, as it's not worth the hassle with the current crew as they have made it pretty clear now that they would rather provide abhorrent service than honor any sort of SUBWAY discount (other than the sub of the day). 2 weeks ago I thought I'd give it a try again and use the $3.99 coupon for any 6" sub. The older Asian lady who rang me up kept telling me they could only do $1 off though the coupon clearly said $3.99 for ANY 6" sub. She was challenging me on what the coupon we were both looking at stated, then said there is no button for that discount. Then after I told her to forget it and the sub, somehow miraculously the button was found and the coupon was honored. It was surreal in that up = down kind of way. Today the coupon was for free chips with any sub or wrap purchase. I chose a wrap. All is fine until I try to use the coupon. Girl behind the counter can't find the button, older Asian lady comes over and says there is no button, so therefore they can't ring it up and I can't get the chips. Good lord, here we go again. She tells me to come back another time, like maybe the button will miraculously appear again. Also, the coupon expires today. I was agitated and said that's fine, I don't need the chips, I just need to go. Then a third employee is hovering over the computer and NOBODY could figure this out. The poor girl who was trying to ring me up slid the chips towards me and was charging me $6.99 plus tax (price with free chips) and the Asian lady started berating the girl about giving stuff away and how she can't do that if there's no button. Are you kidding me?!? What a cluster f*&k. Either some people that work there are horribly inept, or it's just a ploy to wear you down so you give in and forgo the discount or coupon. Since it's just Subway food, you can get the same Subway stuff at any Subway as there seem to be plenty in the area where I work. This one is the most convenient in terms of proximity to my office, but it is extremely inconvenient if you try to use any discounts or coupons, even when it's their own company texting them out. I honestly didn't want to write this as there are a couple genuinely nice people that work there, but if talking to the staff gets you nowhere but added frustration, then I don't feel as bad putting this on Yelp. read more

I usually go to the subway by Embarcadero bart on my way in to work but decided to try this one out since it's closer to my work. The lady who was preparing my sandwich seemed more interested in her conversation with her coworker. I had to repeat everything I wanted about 3 times. For example, I asked for spinach and she reached for bell peppers. I asked for Lite Mayonnaise but she put on regular. When I said I had asked for Lite, she reached for the Lite bottle and tried to put even more mayo on my sandwich. Next time, I think I'll walk the distance to my regular subway. read more

Was working nearby and wanted a quick, somewhat healthy lunch. This location was one block away, so I walked over. It's a Subway, how difficult can it be to order food? Well, the staff here makes it difficult. The new promotions are money - and supposedly time - savers, so I ordered the Tuesday special. I told the clerk NOT to heat it up. She insisted. Three times, then made a disparaging remark in another language. Unfortunately for her, it is a language I know, so I was not happy. After that little encounter, another employee finished my order, trying to upsell. No takers, no tip. Make the food the way the customer wants, okay? I had a sandwich there last week. No problem; regular six inch and a drink. It was good. At checkout I paid for the sandwich and received a coupon for a free sandwich. The coupon stated I could get one of equal or lesser value with purchase of any sandwich and 20oz. drink. I returned with my receipt and coupon in hand and handed it to the guy. It stated that it was good until the end of this month. Just to be sure I wouldn't get charged I asked the guy if it was still good. He said wait while he checks with the manager. The manager comes out and says the coupon is only good the same day you buy a sandwich. I asked him to show me where on the coupon that is stated. He couldn't and instead tells me he knows the rules. I ask him to show me the rules he's speaking of, he couldn't and still refused to give me the free sandwich. He then said I could check with some office. I suppose he meant there was a Subway headquarters that I could complain to (probably 'til blue in the face). OK, so that was my experience. I was pretty angry when I left. I have a little experience with customer service and I know that's not any way to get repeat business. I won't be going back there, ever. This is a fast and super cheap spot for lunch! This location is new so it has a lot of two for one coupons that they are constantly handing out. They are pretty consistent with the sandwich making. I don't mix it up much. I always get the vegi on honey wheat and it usually tastes fresh and good. The service has been very quick and the lines moves at lunch. A couple of the sando-makers are a little slow but I chalk it up to them being new. They are all very friendly and one guy went above and beyond to find me my chips in the back when the shelf was empty. Overall, a quick, cheap place to grab a sandwich. read more

So I ask for "light mayo" and "Southwest chipotle." I didn't think that it was a complex request especially when the sole job of the person behind the counter is to make sandwiches all day long. The lady look confused as she was looking for the dressing. First she picked the regular mayo and not he light mayo, not a big deal. And it was pretty easy to see she made a mistake because of the color of the sticker and wording on the sticker. Did she forget that there was glass and that I could see what she was doing? I guess she thought if she moved fast enough I wouldn't notice. Wrong... Second, she picked up a red dressing and squirted it all over the sandwich. I knew that it was not the "south west chipotle" because it was a totally different color and I order the same sandwich all the time. She hesitated and realized that it was not the right dressing. She stopped and without saying a word went to the back to grab the right dressing. She could have at least asked me if it was ok or if she needed to make me a new sandwich. She tried to act like it never happened...LADY, it is glass! I can see what you are doing. Once she made her mistake she started wrapping up the sandwich like nothing happened. Normally, I do not give reviews unless it's really good or bad. In this case, BAD!!! Their hours state 9 AM OPEN on Sunday. I was there and the guy arrives at 9:14 AM. I'm a patient person. He tells me he can't serve me and turns me away. It's Subway for goodness, I'm not asking for a full buffet breakfast. How hard is it to put together a cold sandwich that needs no heat. I went there slightly before the lunch rush at 11:45 and they had 3 people making the sandwiches and one person working the register, should be more than enough employees to keep things moving. It took a pretty long time to get my sandwich, but that is not what I had an issue with. The part that frustrated me the most, was that they tried to cut the sandwich in half while it was still open facing, then tried to wrap it up directly like that. When I opened the wrapping everything fell out everywhere creating a mess.
