Over I give it 6 stars for service and ambiance not for the food food 2

Welcome to DeKalb!…read more When the White Castle closed at this location before COVID, we were sad. Then McAlister's Deli came in. The place is completely redone - you wouldn't recognize it. Food wise, oh was this place good. My wife ordered The New Yorker with corned beef, pastrami, swiss and spicy brown mustard on marbled rye, and I had their Horseradish Roast Beef & Cheddar, which had black angus roast beef, sharp cheddar, red onions, and horseradish sauce on a toasted ciabatta. Listen carefully when you make your order - they ask you if you want a pickle. The pickles are good. My wife went with their Choose 2 option, and got a half a sandwich and a cup of soup. I got the regular sandwich with a bag of Ms. Vickers Salt and Vinegar chips. While they don't have the fountain where you can get it, the staff makes regular tours and offers free refills for soft drinks, and also asks you if your food is okay. My wife enjoyed her New Yorker, and I enjoyed the Horseradish Roast Beef and Cheddar. It had enough Horseradish to taste good, and the drinks tasted great. The place is completely redone, is attractive and clean, with very good service. We'll be back!

We had the italian beef egg rolls to start. They were good, but actually needed a sauce instead of aus jus. But they were still good. I love giardiniera, and they have a really spicy, flavourful one. It goes really well with the Chicago pub burger too. The thing is huge! And tasty! He had a patty melt. Mine was better, but the burgers are just juicy and are made well. Our server was super nice and very attentive! Mae apparently likes her job which is great! Just passing through but I'd come back for cocktails and some more food sometime.

We ordered a breakfast sandwich on a croissant and the Nutella crepes with strawberries. Both items were very large portions for a good value and came out relatively quickly. We went with our baby and were able to put the car seat in the booth with us because the tables are very big, which is great. The restaurant has music on, but just loud enough to hear, but quiet enough to have a comfortable conversation without being distracted or having to yell. Overall, I would recommend anyone going to find a quality breakfast at a reasonable price.

The chicken was super tasty and I loved the block of feta. Although, for 15.00, I could get double the salad and chicken and get pita bread at another local Greek restaurant. I would suggest adding more to the salad for the price of 16.50. I will try something different next time but I think my husband will stick with the Gyro dinner and we will just ask for more sauce and pita bread.

More of a "hole in the wall" diner....but you could smell the food just walking through the door! The girl working the counter was most accommodating and friendly! Came for the creamy lemon rice soup and wasn't disappointed!! Delish!! Couldn't decide on entree so I opted for the $17.00 plate with pork skewer and taziki (sp) sauce soup and spinach pie! Was looking forward to trying their Pastitsio but they were out of it. Spinach pie was a very good second choice! Only downside was no liquor license and we didn't think to ask if we could byob.... They served fountain drinks and nice jugs of cold water ....one infused with cucumbers which was a nice touch. All in all very good food and way more affordable than a fancy Greek (or Mediterranean ) restaurant. Didn't have room for dessert. But looked like some nice offerings. I would go back...even if it were just for the soup!

New day, new review…read more We hadn't visited in a while (time marches on) and I had a burning taste for the Dirty Bird. So back we went. The theme is still the same - CHICKEN EVERYWHERE! It's clear, and they love chicken. I mean they REALLY love Chicken! First off, they are FAST. They were very busy - almost every table filled and they kept filling after people left. After we placed our order, our chicken (two Baby Bird meals) came out HOT and FRESH within around 7 minutes. With my appetite, the Baby Bird is the right size, and I have a big appetite for their chicken. Service was great as well - our drinks were checked, and the server was very pleasant. What a great place to visit in Downtown Sycamore! The drink menu is still impressive, and they even have a Whiskey Acres Bourbon-infused barbeque sauce.

Then I ordered filthy burger basket which had fried jalapeños with it but there was no spicy symbol next to it so I thought it will be ok, I asked can I get a little cheese cup for my little fries ,and she said "I don't know if we have enough cheese sauce for the big order but I will let you know " what really bothered me was the people behind me pushing against the cushion of the booth, the booths must share a cushion in between , it felt like a kid was kicking me from behind on a roadtrip, was so glad when they left but just then couple minutes later a heavy set couple came in and sat behind me,it felt like a heavy set person pushing with their back against the cushion from behind sitting at in a booth,I had to lean forward.when I got my my filthy burger, it tasted good but it was a liar, those fried jalapeño need a spicy symbol because it was hot ,I kept eating it because it taste too good, my wife got the Nashville sandwich and it didn't have a spicy symbol either but it was hot anyway she said it was good, watching her felt like a episode of hot ones, the server brought house made sauce on the house because there was no cheese sauce which was awesome, then later she said"we got has some cheese sauce still want it? "I told her hell yea ,that cheese sauce was the best cheese sauce I had ever had, will be back for cheese sauce ,4 star because of sharing booth cushion

The butcher and pit master, showed me the fresh cuts, including organic Amish chicken, seasoned with his distinctive spices, I can tell you it was a hit with the family. I also got the meat and sausage roll and the two meat combo with pork chop and bbq ribs, yummy. The hot food comes rapped with aluminum foil with each hot item getting its own pocket of foil. Like I said, this is Americana, with that hint of nostalgia come a lot of food for a very reasonable price, including home made salads, like traditional loaded potatoes salad, creamy coleslaw to more adventurous, Shrimp Macaroni Salad, and Bowtie Crab Salad. I will definitely have to get some steaks and home made sausages for the grill monster, and might even try some of their fresh habanero cornbread. Man my mouth is watering just thinking about it!
