We have been visiting Townsend for years and years, and we never went into the Subway. We noticed it was always there, even when several other restaurants had come and gone, Subway seems to have always been able to stay. So this is a typical Subway and has what you would expect at a Subway, bit this one has a special bonus. It also offers ice cream! They offer about 15 different flavors in a bowl or on a cone. There is outdoor and indoor seating. We stopped in for a treat and will return again for lunch! By the way it is all very affordable! The building itself seems to be showing some age, but it doesn't take away from the quality of the food or the great attitude of the team that runs the show here. read more

Clean and really great. Everything was fresh. The gal that helped me fix up my sandwich was really nice. I asked her what breads were available in foot long and I ended up with a honey oat. She put exactly what I needed on the sandwich. And apparently it has been awhile since I have been in Subway, but they have this new thing that you put the knives into and it cleans them right away, so that when your sandwich is sliced, there is nothing on there from the previous sandwich that was cut. That's huge for me because of all my allergies. So it's a win win for me. So I will definitely be back to this Subway time and time again. It's so rare to find great customer service and someone who is so conscious about food allergies and didn't roll her eyes when I asked her for a clean knife. read more

We stopped at this subway after touring the cave up the road. I felt like i stepped thru a time portal. Everything in this place tastes like subway did 15 years ago, before most of them could care less about fresh ingredients. The bread was literally that firm crisp super fresh you get from bread within first 5 hours of cooking. Place was super clean all veggies and meats were super fresh. Cookies were like Otis spunkmeyer cookies from high-school. It takes alot to impress me. For a simple subway ,it's a diamond in a sea of turd subways surrounding it. read more

Let me say that this Subway is one of the best operates locations I've ever visited. Well staffed and very organized....and to top it off....they sell ice cream! Yes scooped and with cup or cone! My family stopped in here on our way back from Cades Cove, before going to Tuckaleechee Caverns. There are a few businesses in this strip, and outside it looks a little run-down, but inside this Subway, it is very spacious, clean, and looks brand new. It is family-run & had the feeling of a local deli rather than a Subway, which I found very warm & welcoming. The food was good, about like you'd expect from a Subway. The guy making my sandwich misheard one of the condiments I wanted on it, and he was very apologetic & immediately offered to remake the sandwich for me. I didn't take him up on it, though, because I didn't mind what he added, but I appreciated his willingness to immediately make it right. Very comfortable atmosphere & definitely the most friendly Subway employees I've encountered in a very long time. read more

First I want to apologize for taking up the employees time while visiting this location. Apparently we walked in at the most inconvenient time for the three male employees, actually just two. This visit was actually visit number three for us. Our first visit was several years ago to get sandwiches at the Subway. They were very good with plenty of meat and condiments. Everything seemed to be good and fresh. Our second visit was to get ice cream about a year ago. Not a large selection but when you're craving ice cream it will do. It's Breyers ice cream so it should be good however, if you order a shake it seems they all taste like vanilla for some reason. Today's visit... bad timing apparently. Same as before, we craved ice cream so we stopped in. Two gentlemen sat in the store eating. Several younger girls standing around outside eating ice cream and just chatting. When we walked in there was only one male employee behind the counter. We told him our order one at a time to which he felt a little overwhelmed since we had 7 in our party (not all of us ordered anything). He stepped to the back and I assume asked for help to which two other men came from the back, acted like we ruined something and went back to the back. Their bread riser alarm went off so one of them came back up front, through the cart around and quickly ran to the back again. He then came back up front to help the single gentleman but got upset because he had used two shake machine cups. All in all the young man that did all the work did a fantastic job all by himself. He seemed to be either new or simply shy. The other guy that threw the bread trays around acting all frustrated checked us out. One word, Rude. The third guy? Only seen him once when he rounded the corner, eyes gapped open and then went back to the back. I guess it was just too much for him to handle. The younger guy that made all the shakes made mine last. He actually apologized for the wait which wasn't bad, but it made me feel bad that he didn't get any help. It's sad to think that two lazy employees can ruin a hard workers paycheck. read more

I wasn't as impressed today when I stopped for a 6" sub. No one was out front and after a few minutes I heard "Someone will be with you in a minute, Ma'am." A young lady came out and got my sandwich ready. She was looking around and not looking at me so I wan't sure if she was paying attention. I could tell she wasn't when I emphasized "Just a little Sweet Onion sauce" and she ran a super wide / thick line of sauce across. It dripped while I was trying to drive home. The two young girls making the subs we're pushy, rude, and making snide comments right in front of me because I didn't tell them what I wanted quick enough. Worthless not only did it take a hour to get my food, but by time I got to the counter and order my food(45min waiting) the women had the nerve to stop making my subs to watch a video from the cellphone of the women behind me and stand there and chat with them like I wasn't even there. once at the check out I got to enjoy a ear full of how they are mad they have to be open because of the fireworks tonight(july 4). I advise going somewhere else if you want a good sub they didn't even get our order right and burnt one. and no they where not short handed three in front and two in the back eating read more
