Low and behold there is a Freddy's in Williamsburg, so we decided to take a little "part-of-the-day trip" to chrck it out. Upon entry, everyone working there greeted us and were super friendly. It was pretty busy in there, and i found the tables and chairs to be super close together and i felt a little claustrophobic. Maybe it was the abundance of the color red. The lady who took our order at the counter was very patient while we figured out the menu, which is mostly smash burgers in a variety of iterations, along with a variety of sides. I ordered a "single cheeseburger " with a side of shoestring fries. The cheeseburger is actually a smashburger that is practically a paper-thin "burger". It was very bland, to be honest. Their burgers, unless otherwise specified, come with pickles, mustard, and onions. The shoestring fries were awesome. Simple, not greasy. My husband got 2 Steakburger Tacos, which he said were "just okay". He also got a side of tots, which he found to be overly greasy. We couldn't leave without trying some of Freddy's Frozen custard. I had a small cone of vanilla, which if blind-taste-tested against McDonald's soft serve, i wouldn't have been able to tell the difference. Which is fine. We also got a chocolate malt shake, which was super good. Was it worth the drive? Meeeeehhh. The best things were the shoestring fries and the milkshake. Oh, they also serve Pepsi products. This is the first time that I have ever seen Pepsi Zero in a soda machine at a fast food restaurant. That was pretty cool. It's the little things. Would we go again? Unless there was a much closer location in RVA, probably not.

When we went in, we ordered our meal, but the cashier appeared to be befuddled, and we had to explainthe order to her slowly, several times. The restaurant is very clean; it looks like it's brand new. Once we received our meal, my wife did not get any lettuce on her burger that she specifically requested several times with the cashier. She questioned the cashier about the lettuce. What the cashier didn't know or didn't tell us was that there was no lettuce. I ended up having a Jalapeño Pepper Jack Burger, which wasn't bad, until I chomped down and found a large jalapeño stem in my sandwich. Anyhow, I'm sorry to give them a bad report because I do my best to give five stars. I will say the workers are all busy; nobody was slacking off. I just don't know why they had a hard time.

For the most part, it's street parking where we found a very good spot and restaurants and stores galore. Let's see how this spot turned out for us. Inside, the decor is very nice. They have a few tables inside and plenty in the outside patio. It's basically a spot that's takeout but if want to dine-in, that's totally fine. And they serve Kung Fu Tea, one of our favorite guilty pleasures that unfortunately closed near us months ago. After a few minutes, we ordered at the counter. Along with a large Strawberry Milk slush, I selected a 5 piece tender combo with a side of crinkle fries. First off, the slush was pretty good. At 50% sugar with boba pearls, it hit the sweet spot very well. It felt like old times when we used to order KFT often. But, the chicken combo itself was underwhelmimg. The food came out hot and ready, but the tenders were tough to break apart either by biting into it or with your hands if you dipped in any of their sauces. Sophia ordered a chicken sandwich and wasn't impressed, saying eating a Chick-Fil-A sandwich is better. That says a lot. I did take some home to eat for leftovers, but like earlier, could've been better. Not to put any bad press on the business, but it was disappointing. Again, it's basically a takeout spot and one for KFT admirers like us. We will come back only for that reason the next time we're around.

I had never heard of Blaze before, but I tried it on the recommendation of a local friend who told me it was the best pizza I'd ever have. It really is very good--and perhaps most importantly, it's consistently good. You have lots of choices, both in crusts and toppings. You can build your own pizza or choose one of their signature combinations, like the Meat Lovers, and add extra toppings if you wish. The standard crust isn't too thick and has just a bit of char from their very hot oven. The staff is excellent, and even when there's a long line, it moves quickly. From the time you place your order to when your pizza comes out of the oven is only a few minutes. There's plenty of seating inside, or you can opt for takeout. They offer fountain sodas and beer, along with appetizers and salads--and you can even order half pizzas with salads. Overall, it's a great place for pizza--and the prices are quite reasonable, too.

Lots of seating inside but it can get loud if it's crowded!
