Beware! I've been going to this Cava several times a week for the past year. While the experience hasn't always been great--issues with portion sizes, cleanliness, and occasional overcharging--I kept giving it another chance. My last two visits, however, were the final straw. On one visit, I asked for a large cup for water after spending about $40. I was told it would cost $4. I even spoke to the manager, who confirmed this was their policy. Charging a paying customer $4 for a water cup--something that likely costs the company only a few cents (around 4-6¢)--felt unreasonable and completely out of touch. On my most recent visit, I ordered two bowls with chicken and asked to add an extra portion of salmon to one. I specifically asked the price beforehand and was told it would be $4. When I received my bill, I was charged double for the salmon. When I questioned it, they insisted the charge was correct--bringing the cost of that add-on close to the price of an entire bowl. Beyond pricing issues, the condition of the restaurant has declined significantly. On my last visit, the place was visibly dirty--food on the floors and counters, messy prep areas, and empty, unclean pans throughout. The combination of inconsistent pricing, questionable practices, and poor cleanliness is unacceptable. I won't be returning. read more

I loved my chicken avocado pita but hubby wasn't pleased with his sparse amount of lamb meatballs. His bowl was too small. Hubby had a taste of mine and said I won. It was a huge pita, but I couldn't finish it. Service is the same, pick out what you want or don't want and at the end they tally it up. Helps if you have the Cava membership to get points added on. The area was loud as there was a large crowd at 2:15 pm, but happy to see younger people eating healthy. read more

I will caution that there are some sneaky hidden fees, so be careful when you order, as the up charges can sneak up on you: one type of chicken is $1 more and the avocado is a $2.05 up charge! Also, the quality of the chicken isn't the greatest, but it's not out of line for the market segment; it's no worse than one might find at Chipotle or Panera. The woman offered to us, samples of sauces and made insightful and thoughtful suggestions based on our interests. My salad and rice bowl was perfect with roasted veggies and falafel. The sauces put it over the top! My picky son who was skeptical about coming here was pleasantly surprised with his braised lamb pita. He now believes he invented a genius concoction with his choice of sauce mash up. I'm just glad he gets it and will now encourage this choice to eat. I would have given it 5 stars, but my one honest complaint is that the lentils were a bit underdone to the point of being crunchy. (But if you like them that way, then definitely get the lentils!). You work hard - front of house AND kitchen, you communicate with each other when things are running out and the turnaround to replace these items is quick, you're efficient and get through a line of people with no problems, you seem well staffed at the busiest times and I haven't met anyone here with an attitude. In fact, I come here because staff are so friendly and they're not stingy with toppings. I'm a make-your-own bowl kinda gal and always ask for the free pita, and my go to is always the basmati rice with arugula, harissa chicken for protein, spicy and traditional hummus and then as many toppings as possible. My first time trying Cava as I heard they have plenty of GF options. I decided to place an online order for curbside pickup as I had my dog in the car after making a trip for grocery pickup. I know everyone is experiencing longer wait times and being short staffed. I placed my order for 630p. I pulled up at 6:24pm and called the number as instructed. I called 4 times with no answer. I could see the long line inside but if they are such short staffed they shouldn't offer curbside until there is enough staff in place. I unfortunately ran in at 6:35pm to see if my order was ready as again my dog was in the car. A young man checked twice. I went back to my car and there were other people in the designated spots not receiving an answer and running in as well. I was honestly about to just leave and lose $11. The young man ran out at 6:50p handed me my order and threw in a cookie and drink for the wait time. Although I'm unable to eat the cookie I really appreciated this and wish I got his name. On to the food I built my own bowl and it was quite tasty. I will say it's the experience for me and this unfortunately outweighs the taste of the food. I probably won't be back to Cava. read more
