Overall disappointed. I was very excited about this delivery from the pictures on their website, but unfortunately I learned that is not what they actually give your loved one/friend. The florist advised to add my requests in the note section, but even with the note requesting a zebra succulent or something else if a zebra succulent was unavailable, it was nothing as advertised. Even though succulent weddings are definitely trendier nowadays, it surprisingly wasn't easy to find florists who were comfortable incorporating succulents into arrangements. So we were glad to stumble upon Succulently Urban's website, where we fell in love with the pictures. Since my husband and I are both Arizona transplants and acclimated to very dry environments, we felt that succulents suited our personalities nicely. Plus, neither of us felt that spending thousands of dollars to kill an excess of flowers for a single day was necessary (but no judgment there...). We ended up getting the bridal bouquet, boutonnieres, corsages, and various other arrangements for extra decor. Luckily, my husband is in the San Diego area, so we were able to pick up the pieces, which made me more comfortable than I would have been shipping it to our L.A.-based wedding. I was concerned that picking up the plants a couple of days earlier would be risky (I have a black thumb), but Marialuisa gave me simple and complete instructions so that even I couldn't kill them. Marialuisa is also very responsive, and even though I placed my order less than 10 days before the wedding, she really came through for us. The only issue was that she got our pick-up date mixed up, which was why this isn't a five-star review. Also, one of the succulents got knocked off my husband's boutonniere in all of the family embracing, but no one could really tell. We didn't like the idea of doing flowers for our wedding that are dead as soon as they're cut, plus succulents seemed more appropriate for San Diego. I bought small succulent plants wedding favors from Succulently Urban. Most wedding favors goes to trash so I wanted something which my guest can appreciate and plant in the garden & they look cute as well. The reason I liked Succulently Urban was because it's a local vendor in the heart of San Diego. I didn't had to travel hours to get to Marialuisa's place to pick the plants and didn't had to deal with the hassle of receiving it in the mail. Secondly, plants were very reasonable priced. I asked her about watering the plants because my wedding was in 3 weeks. She told me to water the plant 1 time and 1 week from the time I bought it. The plant started to die after 1 & half weeks. 1 of the plants just fall apart and the rest started getting black/brown edges and looked wilted. Here I am expecting succulents to be tough plants but less than 2 weeks from purchasing them, these plants were dying. It was total waste of my money. I didn't give anything for wedding favors because I didn't had time to figure something else and I wasn't going to embarrass myself with these half dead plants. I had a terrible experience with Succulently Urban. Two weeks before the wedding, I placed an order for a bouquet, boutonniere, and hair comb to be shipped to the hotel I was staying at in Las Vegas. A week before the wedding, I sent an e-mail to Marialuisa requesting that my fiance's name be added to the package so that either one of us could pick it up when it arrived at the hotel. This e-mail also contained the correct mailing address. I did not receive a response so I figured it was a go. The day before the wedding (Friday), the package was supposed to arrive. We had been driving from the Grand Canyon to Vegas, and been out of cellular reception all week. I checked my messages and Marialuisa left message on Tuesday asking when on Friday I'd like to receive the package, and then saw that on Wednesday it had been shipped out with a tracking number, for two day shipping. On Friday, around 8am, I tracked the package and saw that it was undeliverable due to an issue with the address. So I called USPS to figure out what was going on, and waited on the phone for 20 minutes before I was able to talk to a customer service agent, only to have the call drop because I was still on the highway with poor reception. I asked a family member to call, who was already in Vegas, and he waited on the phone for another 25 minutes, only for the agent to tell him that the package was mislabeled with an incorrect address and it MIGHT be at the Martin Luther Blvd post office at 4:30, so we could try checking then to see if it would be there. In between this, I sent Marialuisa a text message to tell her about this, and we briefly conversed on the phone. She told me to try calling USPS to track down the package. At this point, I was freaking out and we were still a couple hours away from Vegas, on the highway. When we arrived, we had to pick up our marriage license and I received a couple more texts from Marialuisa saying that she had mislabeled the package and the address was incorrect. When I checked the tracking, I saw that she missed a zero on the address, which lead to the system providing the wrong zip code. What really frustrated me was that, the correct shipping address was provided to her twice, once when I purchased the order, and again when I had sent the e-mail asking to add my fiance's name, which wasn't even added when I checked the tracking. Marialuisa did call USPS to have to correct address added to the package, but only after I sent her a frustrated text saying that she should be the one calling USPS to have this issue corrected because it was her error and she was the sender. USPS told her that the package might be at another post office different than what USPS told my family member. So my predicament was that this package may or may not be at two different post offices?! What I really wanted to do after driving for several hours is to go hunting around the city in the blazing heat for my wedding flowers, the day before the wedding, with no guarantees that I would even find the flowers. After two hours of visiting the post offices (and paying for parking), I found out that the package had already been returned to sender. During the hunt, I sent Marialuisa several text messages about how I would like a full refund if I did not receive the package by Saturday morning. She never addressed my request, but did apologize for her error. Anyway, I was BEYOND livid. So I had to go find new wedding flowers last minute, which was another errand I really wanted to do before the wedding. I had sent about 5 text messages to Marialuisa without any response. On Saturday, the day of the wedding, I did receive a full refund with an apology e-mail. My impressions on this business was that the transaction was completely unprofessional. I figured ordering flowers online would be easy because I had been traveling around the U.S. for a month and was unable to actually visit a florist, but in this instance, it was way easier to go to an actual florist in person and buy flowers. This was a waste of my time and I found it completely frustrating that Marialuisa did not initially accept accountability for her error. read more

I was extremely disappointed with this company. I ordered flowers from this vendor months before my wedding. The few weeks prior to my wedding I was checking everything to make sure everything looked good. I noticed that Marialuisa hadn't added the cake flowers to the quote. I emailed her to update the quote to include them. No response. I called her and left a message a few days later. No response. I called her and left another message and waited another few days. No response. I decided to cancel my order and go with another vendor. I called and left a message that I was cancelling. Within minutes she returned my call and left me a message begging me not to cancel. Sent an email as well blaming the holidays as an excuse for her to ignore my requests 3 separate times over the course of 2 weeks and decided to include " if you are going away from succulents and going to flowers, succulents offer a longer lasting memory" as if she is the only florist that offers succulents. I do not doubt that this vendor creates beautiful flowers. However, her communication abilities are lacking. 1-2 business days is an acceptable turn around to respond to a request. I would have even accepted a "I'm extremely busy at the moment and will answer your question shortly." I had no idea if she was even going to complete my order. I had no choice but to go elsewhere. So be prepared that you're taking a risk. She may make beautiful flower arrangements, but she may not respond to any of your requests. Are you ready to take that gamble? I wasn't. read more

I've never written a bad review and so I had to think long and hard before I decided to do this but because I don't want another bride or mother-of-the bride to go through what I did, I decided to go ahead and write this review. I saw Marialuisa do a demonstration about a year ago and thought she did a great job. In particular it seemed that she took care in how she shipped her bouquets, I decided she was the person to make our daughter's wedding bouquets and related items. I think she is capable of great work, but it was her response when things didn't go as planned, was an indicator to me that she really didn't understand customer service. 1) I had asked her to send the bouquets 2 days before the wedding. I am not sure but without notifying me, she sent them one day before the wedding. Since we were going to be at the wedding rehearsal, one day in advance presented problems, but since it was out of my control, I hoped for the best. Unfortunately the USPS messed up and the package did not overnight as Marialuisa had assured me. 2) I understand that it wasn't her fault the USPS failed but if she had sent it when I had requested, it would have at least come the day before the wedding. I scrambled around found some flowers for my daughter (it wasn't great because if was Friday afternoon). 3) Saturday, early morning of the wedding, I logged into the USPS website to see that the package had arrived at the post office at 5:30am (it was 6am). I decided to try and see if I could get into the post office and plead with someone to let me have the box. Due to the kindness of a postal worker on the loading dock, I got the box. I then drove to the wedding and opened the box. The packaging and the bouquets and related items were very damaged inside the box. We couldn't use one wrist corsage and one boutineer. The bridal bouquet had obviously been bouncing around the box because some of the succulents were very black on the tips. The bouquets had not been packaged well. Leaves had fallen off the bouquets and one side was completely smashed. Our daughter had her heart set on a succulent bouquet and so we took pictures with the bouquet turned enough so the smashed side won't show in pictures 3) Because I had a wedding, guests, relatives (ya know, a lot to do) I told Marialuisa that I would get back to her until Monday when I calmed down. 4) her position and response to me was very disappointing. Because I had accepted the package, this somehow made it partly my responsibility. How was I to know the plants were going to be so damaged, I had to get to the wedding. She had sent me an email asking me to not accept the package but I read it after I had gone to the post office. 4) I sent her pictures but apparently not enough and she response was very cavalier. All vendors can make mistakes but how they respond when things go bad, tells you if they are a good business, this was not the case. Please don't use this vendor. read more
