This meal was a fail. I'm giving it 2 stars because of the atmosphere, which is undeniably beautiful. My group of 4 experienced many problems beginning with our appetizers arriving a full 5 minutes before our drinks. Service 101: bring the drinks first. We shared the ceviche fresco-which was bland and had no depth of flavor. I took a jalepeno from the shrimp tiradito which helped. The others tried the shrimp but didn't finish it. Say no more. I tried the salmon à la creama for my entree. Absolutely nothing special about this. My friends tried the chicken fajatas and pronounced it meh. Husband had the pollo à la plancha which was good. The chicken was cooked perfectly and had a nice sear. One good dish out of five makes this a no return for me. Also service was inattentive. read more

With a few small tweaks mostly related to staffing, this could easily become my new favorite Tex-Mex in Dallas. Highlights: 1) Cocktail game is STRONG. Check out the Mezcalini and the Cuarta Raiz in particular. I'm sure their standard margarita is solid, but the Cocteleria Mexicana section is the big one for a reason, and then those Ponches de Leche down at the bottom are the hidden gems. 2) For starters, don't miss the wood-fired Spanish octopus and the ceviche fresco. (The basic queso blanco is fine but didn't wow.) 3) Wood-fired fajitas were phenomenal. We did the sirloin and asked for it cooked rare, and IT WAS. Amazing. Our dining companions also enjoyed the salmon and the wood-fired carne asada. (On a second visit, I had the birria tacos, which were delicious, but frankly the lamb gets a bit lost in all the birria flavor.) Areas for improvement: 1) Our first visit was on a weekend. The place was packed, and it seemed understaffed. We waited forevvvver to place our drink order, then forevvvver for it to arrive. Food came out a bit faster than drinks. Second visit was on a weekday, less crowded, and service was much quicker. Food came out almost TOO quickly on the weeknight. 2) Drinks were stronger on our first visit than our second visit. First visit, they seemed to be doing everything by hand at the bar. Second visit, I suspect they had batched some of the drinks, and they weren't as good. If Sueno's managers or owners are reading this, please, please increase your staffing instead of decreasing the quality and batching the cocktails! 3) On our second visit, we requested the indoor patio room. I called and specifically spoke to the hostess about that request earlier in the day. When we arrived, we were led to the main dining room and told that the patio room was fully booked, although there were SEVERAL empty tables in the patio room, many of which would have fit our party. Maybe they didn't have enough staff to fully seat the patio; I don't know. But...that was disappointing, especially on a night that the restaurant wasn't overflowing with patrons. 4) Eager to see what happens with the lil' speakeasy behind the kitchen. On our first visit, our waitress volunteered to give us a tour, but it was very much not finished, with bright overhead lights and storage boxes sitting all around. Can't wait to see how they finish it out and try some handmade cocktails back there. read more

Let's go, Sueño! Sueño occupies the former Peggy Sue BBQ that was a serious staple of Snider Plaza, but it seems like that space had been empty for a while, so my interest was always piqued as to what would emerge from the ghost of the beloved Sue. However, they kept the Sue and added -ño as a suffix, flipped-flopped barbecue for Mexican cuisine, and we got something surely remarkable as a result. Sorry, I had to get a little goofy with that small observation. Upon entering the lumbering drawbridge-like doors, we are treated to a dimly lit cavernous elegance sure to intrigue, but also a splendid indoor-outdoor atrium (with a plethora of real plants, not artificial) that is perfect if you want to have a little outside ambience while avoiding the 100+ degree heat of Texas summer. I heard the cocktails are worth coming to alone, as I witnessed two young men spending an hour sampling those and abstaining from any food for their visit. I didn't have enough time to peruse the main menu, but the brunch menu was a homerun with every item sounding like a winner. The meal I ordered appeared deceptively small-portioned, but it was anything but as I made it halfway through and realized I was already full. Also, while you're enjoying the spread, take a moment to appreciate the handcrafted plates with little indentations for where your thumb can hold them. And the coffee and mug that it came in were absolutely transcendent. It's the little attention to detail that really sold me on everything. My only caveat is that the bathroom is quite a hike down some long corridors, but you might need the exercise if you ate as much as I did. Sueño is a truly lovely experience. I can't wait to come back for an early-evening dinner! It's only a matter of time before my four stars turn into five. read more

Wow, Wow, Wow!! Let's talk about service........... I don't know if it's because this place opened three weeks ago, or is this the way it's going be?! From the minute we walked through the door until we left, we were treated like royalty! The wait time was approximately 10 minutes without a reservation. They were happy to accommodate us though. What I noticed were a bunch of tables with what seemed like Dallas Housewives, seated in groups celebrating some kind of occasion. All looked aside, the atmosphere was amazing! Great decor. Clean restrooms, and the employees were all dressed very nicely. For me notice that is saying something! The food was amazing, chips and salsas were delicious, and the margaritas exceptional! So glad I found this newly hidden gem, I wish them lots of luck as I don't think they'll need it. Great job y'all! BRAVO!! read more

First time and I'm obsessed! Easy parking, great service, beautiful venue/ambiance, good drinks and good food! I got the salmon, and my friends got the carne asada and el pastor tacos. I usually don't get salmon but the mushroom purée got me and it paired perfectly with the salmon. Not to mention the salmon was cooked perfectly, medium. The carne asada was also very tender with perfect amount do seasoning. I can't wait to go back for the salmon! read more

Visited Sueño this weekend and had an incredible experience. From the bold, authentic Mexican flavors in every dish to the creative, expertly crafted cocktails, everything exceeded our expectations. What really set Sueño apart, though, was the service. Celeste took amazing care of us--we never felt rushed, and every member of the team made us feel genuinely welcomed and valued. That level of hospitality is hard to find these days. If you're looking for an exceptional dining experience and great ambience in the Dallas area, I can't recommend Sueño enough. I love the Sueño in Richardson so I wanted to try this one out. The parking in this area has a big surface lot for all of the restaurants and shops but there's also a garage nearby. The food was really good. I got the pozole soup and it was really flavorful but also had chopped onions and fresh Mexican oregano on the side. We also got the queso blanco. It needed more flavor so I added in the salsa and it was really good. The service was really good. We didn't have a reservation but they let us sit in the really nice atrium for 2 hours before another reservation needed the table. The atrium is beautiful. I loved sitting in there with all the plants. They could use purse hooks under it besides the tables though. read more

Refreshing and delicious, I absolutely loved all of the little touches and even the serving plates were fabulous! My mago water had a beautiful little orchid on top, which I brought home. I sat in the atrium and it felt like I was out-of-town. The music was at just the right volume too. Someone is clearly paying attention to the details. read more

My family and I have been going to the Richardson location for years, so I had to come support the new Dallas spot and it completely exceeded our expectations. Not a single detail was overlooked. Very good food for the most part, however i found the fajitas to be extremely tasty, but extremely oily. The unique shape and taste of the chips was pleasing as were the dipping sauces provided which were "complimentary" per our server. We went on a Saturday evening and there was a huge crowd, but the restaurant is very noisy. Service was excellent. Prices were slightly above the normal Tex-Mex restaurants in DFW, but only by a dollar or two. REALLY enjoyed dining in a small business which does not appear to be a chain. read more
