Complete Novice here. Smith point archery was recomended…read moreto me by very experienced archers from NH. 1 1/2 hour drive for me past 3 other pro-shops Bought the Bow from Mario, Good experience. Some good points about the place and people.. Some cool cats there willing to teach you and share their knowledge which was great for one who knows nothing. There are a few really good people working there{they are not the ones in charge though] The owner is a Bully [little person complex] My draw length was wrong. peep alingment was wrong. All my inserts came out on 1st set of arrows, 1 loose now on 2nd set. They did not have the patience for or listened to a beginner. Owner is special, we had an interaction. Old man Big mouth. I walked away. Not what I wanted to do. The good was good the bad was aweful. I will never go back, dissappointed. I am enjoying my Bow and Shooting just have to do it someplace else now.

I recently returned to archery and hunting after a long hiatus and couldn't have asked for a better team to get me back up to speed. Jeff, the owner and master bow fitter, is exceptional. He took the time to understand my needs, walked me through options with incredible knowledge, and set me up with the perfect bow that fits like it was custom-made. His expertise and patience made the whole process enjoyable and confidence-inspiring, including use of the range which is critical. Paul is a true pro with crossbows and digital scopes -- he dialed in my Mission Sub-1 XR and Garmin Xero scope with precision and care. Watching him calibrate and tune was like watching a craftsman at work, and the results on the range proved it. He's meticulous, efficient, and clearly passionate about getting things exactly right. Mario deserves recognition too -- Whether it was grabbing gear, answering questions, or offering quick tips or advice on best release to consider, he made sure I always had what I needed and felt taken care of properly. I purchased my entire setup here: compound bow, crossbow, digital sight, release, arrows, broadheads, and more. Every step of the way I felt like I was in expert hands, not just making purchases but being set up for long-term success. If you're in Long Island or the NYC area and want the best possible service, knowledge, and gear in archery and hunting, Smith Point Archery is absolutely the place to go. Jeff, Paul, and Mario are a fantastic team -- I wouldn't go anywhere else.

This is a great place for archery! I took an introductory class (1 hour) here and had a great time…read more The instructor spoke a bit too fast so make sure you listen carefully. The class starts off with the instructor explaining a lot of basics about archery followed by several practice rounds. Each round the instructor introduces a new point or two to be mindful of which is very helpful. They walk around to make sure you're doing everything correctly and guide you throughout. The class ends with a few competitive games which is nice, and the prize is a free hour of archery for your next visit. Would highly recommend the intro class if you're a beginner. Staff are very friendly and helpful! They stop and help you to give you pointers. One of the staff members was making sarcastic remarks under her breath about some beginners who were practicing which I found very unprofessional and disrespectful, but other than that, all of the other staff members were very friendly and helpful. To rent a lane for one hour, it's $18 plus $15 for all-day equipment rental. Overall, I would highly recommend this place for archery!

He explained everything clearly: how to stand, hold the bow, aim, and shoot, as well as all the safety rules to follow. During practice, he gave helpful tips on how we could improve. It made the experience fun and engaging. Would recommend for beginners looking to try something new!

As soon as my husband and I walk in the door, we are greeted by Eugene and asked if we needed help. I stated boldly that I wanted to learn archery and had very little idea of where to start. He didnt try to upsell some big fancy expensive deal, he offered private lessons at $35 for 30min. I declined and said I wanted to get my own set and learn from there. "No problem," he said. He brought me up to the counter and did a dominant eye test and determined I was lefty, even though I'm mostly right-handed. He indulged me and let me try shooting from both sides and HE WAS ABSOLUTELY CORRECT. I shot three arrows within inches of each other lefty, and spazzed out twice and hit the ceiling as righty. He coached me a little on saftey, stance, and technique. Also he didn't judge me for my pink hair or for picking out the pretty purple arrows with the red feathers. Long story short, he spent nearly an hour answering all of our annoying and endless questions and showed us how to use everything. We walked out very happy and we are headed out to an outdoor range right now on this beautiful day thanks to Eugene and Extreme Archery.
