The bar back a girl and the bartender blond-headed guy would not acknowledge us or even give eye contact. Sat for 15 minutes and walked out, nobody cared nobody said anything. You're off the beaten path and in a sketchy part of Galveston. Will not make the effort to go again. read more

Sunday evening dinner left much to be desired. The wait staff was excellent and the bartender was trying to make craft cocktails for a full bar, the entire restaurant and serve food so he definitely needed another bartender or an assistant. The chicken on my Cobb was not hot, the Cajun pasta that listed crab had none and one person in our party was served a shrimp tail(no shrimp attached). The owner/manager never stopped at our table during the entire two hour meal. We were hoping for a different experience for 90.00 plus evening meal for two. Lovely place and again our wait staff was wonderful so here's hoping for changes in the future in the kitchen and management. read more

This restaurant opened in Feb . This location was previously the M&M - the M& M was wonderful. We decided to try this place and initially we were impressed with the new interior. We ordered drinks from the HH menu - the vodka tonic was not acceptable so I ordered a dirty vodka martini. The flatbread pizza was ok - nothing to write home about -. We decided to move on and requested the check - I was somewhat surprised to realize that the $12 martini had an $5.00 up charge for dirty. So this joint charges $5 for olive juice. Don't judge a book by its cover. I have to be honest based on the decor and the people who go there I thought it was going to be very bland and unseasoned mediocre food but it was far from that. Popped in for brunch over the holiday weekend. The restaurant was full but not jam packed. We initially sat at the bar. Very nice bar but service at the bar was painfully slow. Seated tables with waitresses continuously received service and check ins but we had to place our drink order 3-4 times before they made them. We ended up asking to be seated at a table to have a waitress. Food and drinks finally came out. Keep in mind we placed our drink order when we first arrived. The drinks came out 20-30 minutes later and after our food came. We ordered the crab cake sandwich and the chicken and waffles. The crab cake sandwich was okay just a tad too sweet. Crab was flaky. Fries were shoe string fries. Minuscule amount of fries. The chicken and waffles were bland. The chicken needed salt. Also it was only two small chicken tenders. The waffles were flaky but flavorless. Ambience was great. The plating and atmosphere are great but the food not worth it. Beautiful restaurant but probably wouldn't return on a subsequent visit to Galveston. read more

The food was good, with prices on the high side. If they want to price at this level they need to step up their game much more, otherwise I'll stick with Vargas. Personally, I think the space and shaky service should be closer to moderate pricing. Decided to stop in for brunch while on a day trip in Galveston. To start it's a nice looking restaurant and most of our party enjoyed their food. Which is why this isn't a one star review. I ordered the red beans and rice and would not order again if I ever went back. The issue was with the service. Our waitress wasn't very friendly or helpful with the menu. Two people in our party didn't have glasses or silverware and the waitress never came back, we had to flag her down and she still didn't get extra silverware. We had to get it ourselves. When our food came out she never returned to ask if everything was good or to refill our drinks. She dropped off our check after another considerable wait and we had to wait for her to pick up our card to process the payment. We ended up having to get up and collect our card because it was taking so long. A gentleman who looked like he might be a manager was up front and asked if everything was okay, when my wife told him about the service issues he just had a blank look. Great neighborhood find! My first time at the restaurant visiting a friend there on vacation. We tried the Sucre 75 and Spiked Lemonade cocktails, shrimp and pineapple ceviche, wedge salad and the First Date flatbread. Everything was delicious! The food is good. Prices are very high for what you get. 160 dollars for two people! The place is very noisy and when the dude was playing the piano you had to yell at each other and at the waiter. What a shame! I took a friend for her birthday Sunday brunch, upon her request. She had never been. I had a bad experience when they first opened, but was willing to give it another try.....bad move. Our waiter was extremely slow and forgetful. We sat for over 10 minutes with no drinks. I flagged down the hostess, and the waiter returned. We got our drinks, but waited another 10 or so minutes, and he never returned. I motioned over the manager, who came to our table chewing bacon - which I could smell from his breath. I told him our waiter was MIA. He shared his frustration w staff calling in, no show, etc. said he'd send waiter over. Waiter took our order, and refilled my coffee with cold coffee.......which I sent back when I got his attention 5 minutes later. The food came....hooray! Sadly, the egg on my avocado toast was cold. Again, I waved at the manager. He took it away, and returned later with a nice, hot egg on the avocado toast. I next visited the restroom, which of course, had no paper towels. the first person I saw was my old buddy, the manager. I laughed and said, "Me again. There's no paper towels in the restroom." (Which I would bring to any businesses attention, as a courtesy.) He did not respond to me, but looked at hostess and said, "Paper towels In restroom!" The check was brought, nothing more.....even though hostess asked if it was a special occasion, to which I replied, "We're celebrating a birthday!" Sadly, no cake, no nada, nothing comped, no incentive to return for another chance......not even a goodbye or thanks as we exited the restaurant. I have worked in the service industry, and I was rather kind and gentle with my complaints.....it's obvious that this restaurant is ok with sub par service and possibly relies on one time tourists to support this spot. As a local resident, who loves to patronize local businesses.....this was a real, sad letdown. I am not one to ever leave reviews, but this place was the absolute worst. First, it started with the host being rude. We waited an hour and checked in with the hostess to see how much longer and noticed she skipped over our name by 3 parties. When we asked how much longer, with an attitude she stated, we have to put tables together. When we were seated it was one solid table that wasn't even set up with for guests, so much for putting tables together and she stated, "there you go," with an attitude. There were flies swarming all around our table, and we couldn't stand it and had to ask to be switched tables outside because we couldn't imagine when our food was there how many flies would be feasting on our meals. The service was an absolute joke, the server barely came to our table, and when we would ask her for something and she would either forget or take forever to bring it. We had a party of 6 and gratuity was included but she clearly didn't care to do her job because she was going to get a tip regardless. The food was so bland and my burger was overcooked and dry. From the beautiful decor, inviting atmosphere to very very nice hosts and delicious food. It's a lot of little things that make this place very nice. For example their water tastes good, not like typical tap water, everything is clean and their toilet paper is the nice expensive kind, I know weird to mention but again it's all the little things that make a good experience. read more

Came here for my birthday brunch. Food was decent, but a little over priced for what you get, which I feel is a common trend at these types of restaurants. Ambiance was very unique and inviting. There's a large piano in the middle of the dining room - not sure if it's actually used, but I think it takes up valuable space that could be better utilized for dining tables. They seated us at a table next to the entrance walkway and people that were coming in kept bumping into our chairs and table and were standing right over our shoulder while they waited to be seated. Definitely a turn off - I would say get rid of the piano, or swap places with some of the dining tables, so people don't have to sit next to the entrance. We requested to move to the bar area because it was a little distracting for us. Service was pretty poor at the bar, but to be fair, there was only one bartender behind the bar, with every seat at the bar taken. read more

Our waiter was terrible, not trained appropriately. Won't go into details but just think "I don't care" and you will have the mental picture. Food was salty. Bread was cold and hard. Steaks undercooked. Place was lit up like a lunch room for dinner. And then layer on poor service and I could write a whole other paragraph on that..... We spent $200 for my wife and I. Bottom line- it wasn't a $200 experience both in terms of food and service. Probably won't go back. Gold standard is Rudy and Pacos and Vargas C&C. This restaurant isn't in the same league. read more
