I decided to get a waffle today since apparently this was the last day they would be open until next spring. Of course I knew there would be a wait, but I didn't know how bad it would be. Long story short, I ordered one banana bungalow waffle ($12, really?) for myself. The guy in front of me in line ordered a total of 5 waffles for himself and his family. The girl taking orders told him the wait would be about 35 minutes, so I figured mine would take about the same time. Spoiler: it did not. It took just over an hour. And to top it off, the waffle didn't live up to my expectations. The edges were burned and something about the cream tasted off, like it wasn't as fresh. Before they open again next spring, they really need to figure out a more efficient way to run their business. Hire more people, get more equipment, allow people to call/text in orders, something. Maybe even limit how many waffles one person can order because I would have had mine sooner if not for the people who ordered 10 waffles for their party. Because waiting over an hour for ONE waffle when that's all you make is ridiculous. read more

Stopped by their food truck to try their waffles...they were really tasty, but I did not appreciate the attitude of the girl helping me out. I could be wrong, but felt as if she was giving me an unwelcoming look. Right off the bat, they told me 'We're out of whipped cream!' And some other toppings... While I get that they were out of some stuff, they didn't have to blurt that out first thing. I almost didn't end up ordering anything because of that. That really soured my experience. I ended up getting a plain waffle for $6 with nothing on it. With toppings it would've been either $11 to $13. Where do they get off charging that amount of money for a waffle with a few toppings??? You could get all of those ingredients for under $10 at the grocery store and make a good 20 plus waffles for that price. I suggest lowering your prices. Your waffles are good...but why charge so much for them? read more

I am a waffle lover! I had really high hopes for this place, they didn't disappoint but left me desiring something more. The food truck is very nice and well designed, located on the southside of town in the same lot as BBs Coffee stand. The menu is small, but offers a good variety to choose from. From the previous photos posted from June 2015 to my current menu photo July 2015, it looks like they have dropped their prices (yay!). We ordered the Banana Bungalow: waffle, banana, cookie butter and a generous dollop of their house made whipped cream. The combination of the cookie butter and bananas is great. They're generous with the cookie butter; its really rich but not overly sweet. And the Strawberry & Cream: waffle, strawberry and house made whipped cream. Very generous with the strawberries and the cream, but it was overall too dry. Maybe a strawberry compote or a drizzle of maple syrup would help solve that issue? The waffles are lightly sweet and have a nice crunch to them (like all waffles should). They taste great, but have this soggy center like a half cooked cake, it was quite disappointing. I think the batter may be too thick and doesn't allow the center of the waffle to cook all the way through? It was just kind of mushy, not what I was expecting. Overall I was satisfied with the experience. The best thing about the experience was the house made cream. Its mildly sweet, thick and rich. Sugar Waffles is a great addition to the food truck scene in Anchorage. It's definitely worth a try. read more

Ok, so having had the real thing in Liège, it's hard to compare. They were good but that about it. They were a little too undercooked (too mushy on the inside - yes it might be a little mushy even the original ones but those where a little too mushy). Also they are quite pricey for what it is. It's fair to say that they don't skimp on the topping and the waffles are fairly large so I can see why the price point but still. Now the whole pearl sugar and the sweetness of the typical Liège waffle was there and the flavor is fine but again, the fact that all three were underdone and so pricey is a turn off. 3 waffles with Nutella, whipped cream and strawberries and 1 with just strawberries with whipped cream same price even without Nutella?!? Why?? 39$!!! Conclusion: It was alright but not worth the price. read more

Okay, so... the first time I visited their food truck they were parked outside double shovel and an hour into them being open, they sold out. I figured that they must be that good and I decided to give it another go. We came at 11:30 ordered 2 different waffles and it's been almost an hour and I still haven't received my waffles. I can cook a delicious meal in under an hour and all they are making is waffles. Not only is time an issue but they are WAY over priced at $12-$13 a pop and they have major health food violations if she is walking in and out of the truck without shoes on. These waffles are heavy and filling! The cream on top is a sweet treat and so thick you don't need butter. I'd love to see a maple varietal. I like the nutella, peanut butter, and fruit options. But my heart cries out for maple butter or a maple drizzle or something... MAPLE! :) Ha, maybe that's my hang up though. I love love love waffles, and was excited to try this place. We had the Nutella the Hut - a waffle with Nutella, strawberries, and a dollop of their whipped cream. The price was HIGH at $9.50. When we got it, the waffle looked under-cooked. It tasted fried and the middle was like under-cooked bread dough. Yuck. My husband though It was more like a dense funnel cake in the shape of waffle. It did not have enough Nutella, but it did have plenty of whipped cream and strawberries. The whipped cream tasted great, but not enough to spend $9.50 on. I wish that I had read Ketmany's review about the soggy half-cooked cake mushy center - then I wouldn't have eaten here, but now we know first hand. Save your 10 bucks and try another place. read more

Not really my idea of tasty. The waffles were very strangely textured and flavored. The toppings were skimpy relative to the price. I feel very ripped off. I put these in the same category as those stupid trendy 5 dollar cupcakes. They'd get a better rating if the portion and pricing were in sync. read more

I ordered the Peanut Butter Banana waffle, it tasted great. The problem comes in the fact that I had to wait 50 minutes to get it, and at $12 for a waffle, I expect to at least get good customer service and a reasonable wait. My friend and I went here when they were at BB's and I had ordered us two waffles, I ordered a blackberry waffle and a Nutella one. The one lady taking orders repeated the order back to me so I know she heard what I said. When I got the waffles I brought them back to my friend and realized that one of the waffles was the wrong one. So my friend went back to tell them and the ladies told her she needed to pay $4.50 if she wanted a new one. I went to go talk to them and they gave us so much attitude, they eventually gave us the right order and when I went to hand the wrong waffle back to them she gave a repulsed look and said, we don't want that, can't you go car to car and give it to someone. I couldn't believe they actually said that to me! A paying customer! I am a barista and when I get the order wrong (which happens) I happily remake it with a positive attitude. I really like their waffles but I will never go back. read more
