Stopped in on Mother's Day actually, we were in the area and my mom loves some good ice cream. So after some chatter about Sugar Mama's we decided to see what all the hype was about. I opted for a scoop of butter pecan in a cup since I had to drive, good decision! From the cones I saw I would of made a mess trying to eat a huge scoop off a cone. I also decided to wet it up and get the wet nuts. I love wet nuts like love them, but these wet nuts were like no other wet nuts I have tasted. There was like a grainy almost like a sugary speckled taste to them that gave them an extra kick of sweetness. It was like a sugar storm every time they touched my tongue. Wow-Za! The flavors palette of the ice cream here is RIDICCC!! I seriously was not looking to get impressed. I knew beforehand that this ice cream parlor had a cute interior with catchy ice cream quotes which would look great on my insta feed but i was not looking to be wowed with every flavor that i asked to taste and thats exactly what happened and i cant wait to come back! So if you have been paying attention to the pictures in the feed, you will know that their individual scoops are pretttyy big. According to one of the employees, its the size of a baseball. Came here tonight for the first time with my sister and three year old daughter. Loved the ice cream! My sister and I both got the chocolate ice cream which was nice and rich and my daughter got the strawberry one. I loved how it tasted like it had real fresh strawberries. My ice cream was topped with rainbow sprinkles and my sister had hers topped with gummy bears (they have mini gummy bears). Staff is super nice and very willing to help. One star gets docked because the store seemed a bit dirty (the tables and floors) so that was a bit of a turn off, I was hoping for a bit more variety in their flavor choices and the sizes were too big (they had a mini scoop about the size of a golf ball and then a small scoop which was pretty big -- they need something in between). If you want a whole pint of ice cream in a waffle cone, this is your place! For real though, the portions here are insaaaane... in a good way. I got two scoops and I'm almost certain it could've been shared among a small family. I tried the espresso chip (because I love anything that has to do with coffee) and oreo. I really liked the flavor of the espresso chip initially, but I feel like it became a bit muted the longer I ate it and I was overwhelmed by the amount of chocolate chips in it. There are legit baking-sized semi-sweet chocolate chips in there which was a little too much texture for me. But still, it's a flavor worth trying. I LOVED the oreo though (cookies 'n cream is my favorite), and I liked how sweeter and creamier this flavor was. The oreo chunks were great! If the espresso flavor had the oreo chunks instead of the chocolate chips, this would be a game changer. There was only one other person in the store when I came with my friend, but I imagine it gets pretty packed in the summer. The lady working there was really nice and let us sample a few flavors when we came in. I also thought the prices were pretty reasonable (around $5 for 2 huuuge scoops - I'm honestly surprised it wasn't more). Also, the name says it all! They offer a variety of handmade ice cream, bottled drinks, candy, ice cream sandwiches, and ice cream cakes. I think it's so cool that they offer mini scoops, which are 50 cents each. Everything on their menu sounded so good and I'm glad that we were able to try a little bit of everything. Their ice cream is smooth, creamy, flavorful, and not too sweet. There is a chalkboard on the wall listing all the flavors, but I guess when you get there late in the day (or just after the weekend) some things are sold out! There were still about 10 different varieties, including classics like chocolate, vanilla, pistachio, and rocky road in addition to black raspberry chip, s'mores, Java chip, and white chocolate chips ahoy. Good business is hard, and we applaud success because they got it right. Sugar Mama's got it part wrong on my first interaction with them. On a list in an email I received Saturday 18 July, I placed an order via Uber Eats - requesting the item most likely to make it home in the elevated heat, I ordered four quarts of ice cream: banana, cherry, chocolate coconut, and raspberry chocolate. Any complex activity is only as strong as its weakest link, and when we opened the carton of cherry, it was missing perhaps a quarter of the container. I called, and was told the manager "Vicky" was unavailable. This would be so easy to catch, by installing a scale to check - either at the place where the ice cream is packed (in fact, most scale industrial processes have a weight check with intelligence to pull nonconforming items off the line before packing), or, have that as a process for the people behind the counter. Order comes in for four quarts, pull them out of the back, put each on a scale - they would have easily caught the light quart, set that aside marked, and gotten another out of the back, and I would never have been the wiser. Instead, they exposed a weakness in their business (and no business is immune to this - how many times have we been irritated pulling away from a drive through, only to find, they missed something?). And compounding the error, the worst, is they don't want to own up to it. Oh, the ice cream ? Pretty good, actually. But a light quart of an already expensive product makes it that much more expensive. read more
