I went in for a gel removal & a regular manicure as a walk in. I was offered water or soda when I sat down and had a very nice experience overall. The woman that did my nails (sorry I can't remember her name) was very nice. The gel removal was far better than the previous removal I had at Nail Garden - ugh. I wanted a regular mani and they never tried to up sell me to a gel, which was nice. I did like the water offer and I got a little nail file and little nail file square thing to take home (and re-use with them, I suppose). The manicure itself was great - no chips for a week and I type all day, do dishes, clean, etc. So that was definitely nice! Would I go back? Yes. I'd like to try their gel mani and a pedi, too. So why 4 stars and not 5? I felt the price was fair, but I think some of the other little extras that I'm used to at other places would be nice. Such as a towel or paper towel on the table vs just the hard surface. Maybe the wrist rest, too. Little marbles or rocks in the finger soak. That sort of stuff... read more

this little nail shop has been my go to since they opened. i was going to one down the street but found service started to dwindle and my manis were not the best as i've been accustomed to. the entire staff here is absolutely the best nail shop staff i've encountered. they greet you as soon as you walk in and quickly offered a beverage. they have the awesome nail spa seats for pedis and i can literally fall asleep on them. i've pretty much have had a mani or pedi done by all the staff but there's two individuals that have become my permanent nail techs (won't be saying so they stay open for me, selfish i know, but who can blame me :)). there's plenty of diff polishes to choose from including gel, zoya, and essie just to name a few brands. prices are reasonable also which is a plus! this place does get busy due to its small salon, so it would be wise to book an appointment. i've seen people turned away because this staff actually goes by appointments which i find to be great unlike others who take everyone that walks in. i'm a stickler for making appointments to avoid the hassle and find them honoring their appointments a fresh breath of air and do not expect to wait way after my appointment time. super kudos on that ladies and gents! this nail shop is super clean and sterilize their equipment which is very important. you guys are the best! read more

Yes I'm a dude who will every couple months cleanup w a mani -pedi. I bounce around from place to place from yelp and this was on my list. I've had better I've had worse. I can't say my hands look perfect. I prefer a really meticulous person to do this kind of work, not someone who seems distracted or looking around as she's working as was the lady I had. I don't see much difference in these places between a 4 star job and 5 star or $ vs $$ The place itself is small and cramped and it's kind of like an assembly line. read more

They're rude and unprofessional. The manicurist who did my gel forgot to remove the oil that he put on my hands, and told me that my color is "running" because my nails are oily and not because he forgot to remove the oil he put. I asked to start over the color because it was uneven and he refused, said it's just that "my nails are naturally oily". I've done gel at least a hundred times, first time this happens, so no, it's not my nails. I asked the lady doing my pedicure to cut my nails shorter and make them rounded, she didn't. I couldn't see what she was doing because I'm 9 months pregnant and had the UV things for my hand and a pillow on my belly. At the end, I asked her to fix a nail that I hadn't seen, she starts talking in another language, gets up and leave. I left the place in tears, never going back there again. read more

I've been here a few times, not bad overall; however, the last time I went I got gel mani and regular pedi done but very unprofessional finish. Nails were filed unevenly, bubbles and lint found on 4 of my nails, and pedi was done so thick in started to wrinkle up. Also I asked for a callous removal and got a weird wax treatment instead which I though would eventually lead to the scrubbing part but then the guy said thats it 10$, I was so confused and upset. I came by this place earlier today and asked for a gel manicure. Not to mention, I specified that I wanted a gel manicure about three times and they almost gave me a regular manicure until I let them know. All of a sudden, I was told that I would have to pay 50 dollars for god-knows-what. The workers here have terrible communication and little understandment of what is being requested. This is my spot! I love getting my pedicure here and relaxing. It is definitely busy most of the time, but they always seem to be able to fit you in and my toes look great after! Sugar Nails is a cute, well run nail salon. I've gone three times for a pedicure and each time I have been quite pleased with the results. Each aesthetician has been nice, efficient, and great at the job they do. My pedi lasts for several weeks with the quality Essie nail polish they use. The management is friendly and ready with offers of water, soda, coffee, etc...when you check in. Payment is quick and easy with a credit card on the iPad--although they do appreciate cash tips, so make sure to bring some Ben Franklins with you. The down side is that it's a small space and usually pretty crowded. Overall a good, local business worth supporting. read more

The worst pedicure I've ever had. It was over in LESS than 15 minutes. I think this qualifies for the Guinness Book of World Records. Other salons I've gone take 30+ minutes which I enjoy. It's nice to relax. The male technician could not have rushed through it any faster if he tried. He didn't even clean under my toe nails! Eek! I had to ask him to do it. No leg scrub ($5 extra - no other salon I've been to has ever charged extra), no massage with the lotion and no hot towel at the end. When I discreetly told the manager when I paid, she started yelling at me in front of the other customers. I was so upset I only tipped 10%. An employee then followed my mother (who I was with) into the street demanding more tip money. Very poor service and management. Also, the place is shabby, not like the photos on here. There are plenty of other great nail salon options in the area. Will not return. read more

It's a little place but they almost always have walk-ins available. I usually call and ask if they have time soon, and they say "how fast can you be here?" and if its 5 minutes, theyre ready for me. If you're a regular this seems like a good place to go. If not, don't bother. Their time management is poor and you will get skipped for regulars. Got acrylic nails and they did it use a uv light on them, when asked why not they could not understand what I was asking about. Cramped quarters and the employees are constantly shouting at each other. Took them two hours to do a regular pedicure and gel manicure, because they made me wait almost 30 minutes in between services. read more

The service itself was good. I made an appointment, got there five minutes early, and still had to wait around 20 minutes. When you walk in the door, there is no one that welcomes you into the room. I saw about three people that also walked in while I was there and they didn't know what to do, where to sign in, who to talk to, or how long the wait would be. Also, as a sidenote, I saw a woman that got her nails and toenails done and she got two different colors, two different shades of red, when she clearly just wanted one color, and even though she was clearly not happy, no one offered to fix the mistake. I have been going to sugar Nails for a few months now, Andy had been doing my acrylic nails. The work was ok, nothing great , they were lifting and a few would always fall out easily after the first week, however I thought I would ask Andy to possibly add more primer so this doesn't happen, I basically wanted to give him and the salon a few more chances since this seemed to be one salon where the employees didn't talk in their language and you know they're talking about you !! They seemed a bit more respectful to that aspect and I liked that so wanted to give them a few more chances. Well where do I start ..... today February 17th we had one of the worst storms in Southern California, and unfortunately I HAD to get my nails done, since I had client meeting all day tomorrow. I had three fully broken nails and a few lifted, I of course needed fills as well. I had called Andy a day prior and today at 11am and made sure he could take me early afternoon , he told me yes to be at the salon between 2:00-2:15pm. I bundled up and drove in all that rain, wind and mayhem, they're about 3 miles from where I live. I got there soaked and on time mind you at 2:15 I saw that he was in the beginning stages of a full set, I was shocked , I asked him how backed up he was and he said all day.... if I can go tomorrow !! I told him NO I had client meetings all day and I would not be able to, it was important to get them done today, he said there's nothing he can do because he's backed up , I asked several times why he told me to be there by 2pm however he had no answer. Other clients saw my situation and were just shaking their head. The only thing he could say is if I wanted to wait for another coworker who was coming close to 5pm or just to go tomorrow !! I was so angry and upset that I just left and started yelping other salons the area. Thank god I found one and got my nails done, at least they won't look horrible during my client meeting. I'm very disappointed by the way I was treated , this is no way of running a schedule or a business, lying to your clients promising one thing and not honoring your word, people have life's too.... that was a loss of time for me..... They lost a great client, not only I did my nails, I also did pedicures and waxing and took my friends. I definitely WONT be back to Sugar Nails again, the work is mediocre at best, and they don't honor their own appointment times !! read more

I love this place! I've been going here for about a year and a half now and have never been disappointed. I typically get the gel manicure and regular pedicure which runs about $40 (a steal!), and my nails look great for about 2+ weeks. They are always upfront with you about pricing and never try to talk you into treatments you don't need like many other places in LA. I used to love this place, but lately it's been not so great. The last time I went was very disappointing. The workers are nice, but I feel like they are rushed because this place is always packed. And I'm not saying being busy is bad, but there is a point when it gets so busy, things start falling through the cracks. For example, I had an appointment for 3:30 on a Friday, and wasn't seated for 15 minutes, and they took people who came in after me first. That was very frustrating because I was on a schedule. The price point is good (Gel Mani and Pedi for $40), but its a little over a week and my gels are already peeling off, which I feel wouldn't be if the workers didn't feel so rushed to finished to get as many people in. I think if they maybe had a bigger place and more workers it would be better, but until then, I think I'm going to look for a new nail place until Sugar nails gets a little less crazy busy and more focused of customers. read more
