I live in Studio City, but I'm tired of fighting for parking on Ventura Boulevard. I decided to try Qtie Nails in Sherman Oaks, in the El Pollo Loco and Starbucks mall on Riverside, just off Fulton. What a great experience! They have the salon decorated so sweetly for Easter and Lunar New Year. The host at the front, Symone, is a lovely person, who helped adjust my chair and is constantly monitoring the salon, cleaning, and adding a great front face. Massage chairs are very comfortable! There's no blasting music. Very low-key music playing quiet. I spent $55 on a deluxe pedicure and it was worth every penny. Great massage, callus remover, sugar scrub, paraffin treatment... Loved it. Tina is so sweet and very meticulous. Ask for her! Qtie Nails is a new great place for me, and I plan on coming back tomorrow for a manicure. read more

They do an okay job, but I have two problems. They always make me wait - I've had appointments and had to wait over 20/30 minutes to get started so I stopped making appointments. Then when I walk in they always say they can take me, but then I have to wait in a chair for over 30 minutes. It makes no sense because they never tell me that I will have to wait. I clearly haven't learned my lesson and continue to give them a shot. They also never give my kids (who are not little kids) regular/adult mani/pedis. They try to give them a kids and then charge me for a regular. It's super frustrating. read more

Tommy was focused more on his phone than on my mom's nails. My nail job was better, (second review coming up), but hers? A nightmare. She had to tell the guy every single step and had to remind him to clean the nails more, which he still failed to do. Didn't even TRY to clean out the cuticles! Apart from the terrible cleaning job, the color application wasn't the best either. The nail polish was applied unevenly and as seen in the photos, the end job had bumps and problems at the nail corners. The salon itself is great, (will be mentioned in the next review), but if you ever come for a manicure, make sure you don't get Tommy. That guy will be focused on his phone more than on your nails. I've been coming here for a few years but have never written a review, so this is very overdue! Qtie is my go to nail place - it's right across the street and they've always been great. Booking online is so easy, so I recommend making making an appointment ahead of time. The spa is surprisingly beautiful given the outside (not an insult! I was just pleasantly surprised the first time I went in, it's much bigger than I expected it to be) and all of the nail techs do a great job. I've been getting GelX or regular gels with Danny for the last year and he always does an amazing job, but anyone there will do a phenomenal job. I had been here a few times and always been happy with the services I've received until this evening. I had made an appointment on November 19th for a classic gel manicure for November 21st at 5pm with Joanne. I arrived a few minutes before my appointment time. I was left waiting for 30min before I was informed that Joanne was unavailable as she was still with another client. I was offered another nail tech who begun started removing my gels. I had pointed out some chips in my nails prior to the service starting. My new assigned nail tech started conferring with someone else on the chips and once he wrapped up with his client he took over my service. He used a drill to remove my existing gel, which is where the issues started. He knicked my cuticles with the drill 4 times. When we started filing my nails he was half paying attention as he was focused on watching a game on his phone. Not once did he ask me about length or nail shape. Then he started applying the polish. I received the same half attention. Once all was said and done I looked at one of my nails that was chipped and the nail shape was lopsided and wavy. I wish I had a picture before he tried to fix it. He tried to say it was because of the crack/chip. However, my dissatisfaction was at the TIP of the nail. It was basically an S shape with out uneven it was. There was no apology and no accountability for mistakes made. I'm an hour out from leaving the salon as I'm writing this and am noticing how sloppy this manicure is. I'm so glad I didn't do a color as it would look even worse. But a couple of things I'd like to call out for the folks running the salon. The gel was sloppily applied over my cuticle. The right hand has no top coat (not the shine difference between the photos) and the gel application on my right thumb is already starting to lift. If you want to be a guinea pig for practicing technicians, take my place here! I have been a regular here ever since my mom gets her nails done here but now I'm never coming back! I always get my mani pedi here which is fine with Thao cuz she does an amazing job but I wanted to switch things up and get a gelex so I asked her if I should go for it. She said that I should do it with Wynn so I did. She seemed cool at first cuz she's an older lady so it seems sweet but nope- her service is absolutely dog! She cut my cuticles and it bled but I didn't want to make a scene so I just went on with it. Then, when she put on my nails, it spilled onto my skin and it burned like hell. Then, she had to YANK OFF MY GELEX WHICH BURNED MY NAIL BED. She tried to just hold onto it to let the pain go away but at this point, I just wanted to get them done and leave because ain't no way shes a professional. Also, she messed up my color but didn't even wipe it off right so now it looks like I got nails done at home. It looked barely alright but to be honest, all I focused on were my bleeding cuticles and sore thumb so I was satisfied I still had my hand at this point. I got my nails done here not even a week ago and the gel she used to make my gelex nails are eating away my skin. It's so darn dry and crusty now that I have to contact a doctor to see if I can get professional help! Plus the gel she used is covering all my cuticles which makes me look like crap right now. I have been going to Qtie nails for 4 years, starting yesterday, NEVER again. The woman that was doing my nails, she was on the phone texting for a long time while doing my nails, I literally had to tell her to stop. While she was doing my nails, she cut my finger REALLY bad. I told her that it hurts and she did it AGAIN. She then put some blue solution on the would and digged her nails into the wound as she presses with a paper towel. This woman should not be doing nobody's nails. I ended up telling the girl at the front desk and they offered me 20% off, I took it, thinking it should be fine the next day. I walked into the salon and wasn't greeted respectfully. I asked the rep in front to check my log for who did my brow last as I wanted to go to the same lady. She gave me horrible attitude. She said "We only have two technicians here tonight... EVERYBODY HERE DOES BROWS!!!!" She said "I can put you with her (Thao) now". By the way I had already been treated I should have walked out. This is my fifth time coming here and I am always polite.. yet treated awful. I get to the wax room... Thao doesn't say "Hello"... nothing! She immediately says: "You want square?!" I explained I wanted my brows to be shaped square, yes and not to take too much off please. In less than three minutes , 3 wax strips and 2 plucks with the tweezers she immediately says "Done!" aggressively! I had to ask for a mirror to see my service. She had taken off so much hair from the middle. My brow doesn't begin at my nose bridge like it is suppose to... rather over my eye. My birthday is in two days now I am going to have to fill my brows in. I immediately felt regret, and horrible! Moreso because I was treated awful for no reason. I am a paying customer. The arch of my brow looks so strange as my brow is wide and goes entirely thin at the end of the brow. I asked to speak to a manger and they said no manger is on duty. Lisa then jumps in my face: "What's the problem?" I told her. She said: "You want a different kind of service you need to go somewhere else." So rude!!!!!!!! She got aggressive with me and loud. I immediately told her I am leaving this review so no one else NEW makes the mistake of coming here for your awful treatment & services! The awful treatment, botched service, favoritism toward their customers & overall experience was HORRIBLE!!!!!!! DONT GO HERE!!! Same thing last week with my pedicure ... I've been here before and the experience has been ok, definitely not bad but nothing that is any more special than other nail salons. Unfortunately, this last visit was a bit disappointing. The prices have gone up significantly--$23 for my 10 y/o's manicure, which was just clear nail polish with a simple white French tip, and it seemed a bit excessive. I paid $85 for a gel pedicure with a callus remover, and sadly, the callus remover was poorly done. My feet are still rough, and it barely feels like they did anything to them. I feel like it was a waste of money. Additionally, they charge a $2.13 fee if you pay with a card, but they don't tell you about it upfront. I don't mind paying a fee, but transparency is important. Given this experience, I think I will stick to "X nails" & "Sugar nails." read more

I went in for a gel fill and manicure, and the quality was terrible. The nails were filled so uneven and the polish poorly applied. The overall work looked rushed and unprofessional. I select a color that is amongst and not set apart from the hundreds of other colors. I pick this color AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SESSION. No mention of a different price for the color. We finish the fill and time to polish. I am told the polish I selected (because it's expensive) will cost me an additional $5.00. Please don't misunderstand, it's not the $5. I always tip 20% or above every single time. I drive out of my way because of loyalty to the salon when I could walk to one near my home. This one time, for a repeat loyal customer, waive $5 this one time to appreciate me and my business. It fell on deaf ears. Now instead of $5, it costs you a repeat $120.00. and a review...I didn't get the color I wanted out of principle, selected another color. paid and left. I took a chance on this place and got dip powder nails. Within 5 DAYS they started lifting really bad and cracking. The nail tech was doing the dip OVER my cuticles and did a super sloppy job. What really made me bummed out was that upon calling (on the 5th day) they stated they couldn't do anything about it. ABSOLUTELY NO ACCOMMODATIONS whatsoever and they seemed unbothered. What a complete waste of $67!!!!! No discount to take them off, nothing. This isn't a place that wants to keep their customers happy nor do they even care to make things right. Unbelievable. Great pedicure and the nail tech in charge is very professional with great customer service however the person at the front desk ruins the experience by expecting all customers to be brainwashed people pleasers who don't value themselves or their money. Customers who expect appropriate service or even an awareness that the salon relies on paying customers to exist will be treated poorly by the receptionist. I had my powder dip nail polish removed a few days ago. 15.00 + 6.00 tip. I noticed that not all of the polish was off so I went in to have them finish up The man at the counter acted like I was trying to rob him, asked me 3 times or more when I came in and who worked on me. I wanted to love this place because the location was so convenient for me. Unfortunately, after about a year of patronizing this salon, I've finally decided to part ways. Firstly, I have never had a manicure from them that lasted longer than a week. Typically, the "chip free" options I choose still manage to chip within days. Gel X? Pops off within days. The last time I came in I got dip with chrome, and the very next day the chrome was peeling off. Unfortunately, I got my nails done on a Friday, and they peeled on Saturday when I was out of town celebrating "Friendsgiving", and Sunday they're closed- so I couldn't have them fix it within their "policy." Whenever I've returned for them to fix their mistakes, I get denied because it wasn't "within two days" of when I had my nails done. So expect to throw away $70 (tip included). Secondly, after having my nails done by Henry I woke up a week later to swollen fingers. I was worried that I was having an allergic reaction to something so I immediately went in to have them removed only to discover I got a fungal infection from him. I've already been warned by other technicians that he is "lazy" but this is health code violation lazy. I never see any of their tools come from sanitized packages. I also would like to see the licenses of each technician because I don't see them displayed per California law. Finally, after all this, I've decided there are no more chances despite the convenience of their location. I'd rather drive 30 min somewhere else than throw my money away here. It's sad, because it's no disrespect to the staff, but something is very amiss here. read more

Terrible experience today. The nail tech that was assigned to me, clearly didn't want to be there. First of all my nails are not shiny, i don't know what she put to the paint but it's full. Secondly when k told her the nail polish on my nails had thin hairs and bubbles she became irritated and said she doesn't see anything. She had also left old nail polish around my skin and didn't want to clean it up. I was too upset to even complain and try to get my money back, I was extremely dissatisfied with todays service. Been a customer here since they opened their doors but after a number of poor service experience I will not be returning. The attitude and poor service here is unmatched. A few times they have done a poor service and when I request to be fixed they start screaming at the customer and clearly complaining in Vietnamese to other employees right in front of you. The male employees are the worst and the stench of cigarette on them is unbearable. If you are late to an appointment for more than a few min they call and threaten to cancel and then provide poor service when you show up. However on a number of occasions I have gone to an appointment only to wait for upwards of 44 min and then about 2 hours to separately perform service. If you complain about their tardiness you are met with screams. For the cost I don't need to be subjected to your poor service. There is nothing special about here. Came in on 5/27 for an acrylic fill without an appt. They took me in within 5 minutes which was great. Tiffany did my nails she did a wonder job shaping my nails but did not match my nails with the picture I wanted. She selected the color without giving me options for the nude part of the French tip. Also she didn't match the design. I told her but she insisted it matched. Well I woke up the next morning with a chipped nail. Came back to the salon urgency cause I have an event and was told that only she can fix it and that-she's not here (I got exactly at the time they opened ) Will update if they fix it *******UPDATE******** So after constant back and forth about what color nude I wanted for my French tip and how they bashed my skin color saying it had dark tones and that certain nudes won't go. I know there's nude colors that compliment different tones but as you can see on the pic that nude color was extremely pale. I just told her to paint my nails red. Thanks to one of the gentlemen in there he did my French gel tips and I appreciate it . The other person at another salon in van nuys hurt my nails bad and he didn't at all. He put up with my requests and did my nails to my liking. The other person did it crooked and cut my real nail away. So I went in with an attitude but he fixed them so they can grow out. But these people that own this nail salon, take pride in their business and really try their best to make everybody feel at home as well as deliver high-quality service. I told her I was renewing my vows for my 25th wedding anniversary so she was very accommodating. She did an amazing job. Usually I just get my nails painted so getting false nails was new to me.
