A confirmation email will be sent with further details. Parking - Very difficult to find street parking. Best to park at nearby business parking lots. The closest parking lot was on Verdugo + York. Parked at a small strip mall at Key Center Plaza that has Donut Star and The Highland Cafe. Not a paid parking lot, but be aware of tow away signs. Vegan Sesame Pretzel Croissant - If a pretzel and croissant had a baby, this would be their hybrid love child. Deliciously created and sprinkled with sea salt on top, this was the perfect pretzel hybrid croissant. Spot-on pretzel flavor, lightly crispy, croissant layered cross-section, a perfect Cretzel! A must-try! You don't need anything else, but maybe a really good cup of espresso. Ham and Cheese Croissant - Second time ordering this. Crispy, cheese crust, flaky layers, black forest ham in the center with a toothpick holding a small cornichon, a hint of mustard flavor to tie it all together. Don't forget to reheat in the toaster oven! Matcha Donut (Gluten-Free) - Taste a teeny bit of matcha. Most of it tastes like almond flour with vanilla. The white matcha chocolate on top adds a bit more sweetness. Texture is soft and spongy. It was good, but I wouldn't order it again. Chocolate Brownie Cookie (Vegan) - Originally tried this at Maru Coffee and fell in love! Had to reorder this! Chewy, chocolatey, delicious with every bite! It really is a thin brownie in cookie form! The only down side is that you do have to eat this within a day or two before it dries up. Triple Threat Chocolate Chunk Cookie - This is a soft cookie with a strong brown butter base flavor. I could taste the different chocolate morsels, yet it wasn't as strong as the brown butter, so all I remember is the brown butter flavor. Somehow this was disappointing. I was hoping this would be crispy around the edges with that chewy soft center. Customer Service - Brief interaction, but very friendly and nice! My order was given immediately and order was correctly given. I've been debating what business to write about for my 1000th review, when I realized I never actually reviewed Sugarbloom Bakery. So this is my love letter to Sugarbloom, one of the best artisanal bakeries in LA, in my opinion. I was first introduced to Sugarbloom (aka first tried their pastries) when I went to the old Stumptown location in Arts District about six years ago. Suffice to say, it was love at first bite. When Highlight Coffee in Pasadena opened, I was thrilled to see that they decided to use Sugarbloom as their supplier. For years I would make it a point to stop by Highlight early enough to get my favorite pastries, including their strawberry almond croissants, white miso kouign-amanns, and miso butterscotch cookies. After my cravings hit an all time high, I finally decided to pre-order directly from the bakery. It's not exactly the easiest pickup location as there is absolutely no parking available in that high traffic area of Glassel Park, but don't let that deter you because the inconvenient trek and parking issues are absolutely worth it. By now I've officially tried everything they have to offer, and after all this time Sugarbloom is still one of my favorite bakeries for high quality pastries and viennoiseries. I have to admit, my relationship with Sugarbloom has been on-and-off the last two years after so many new bakeries started popping up closer to home. I know I know, I'm guilty of letting my eyes (or tastebuds) wander. OMG! It was amazing! It had crispy layers outside, a buttery, fluffy interior, and...ooohhh child...that crunchy, caramelized sugar bottom just took it to the next level of yumminess. Be advised that this is a preorder only spot. There is no walk-in service and no store front. You must preorder via their web site and follow the instructions for pick up. I texted them when I arrived. The parking was a bit challenging since it was street parking only. But the pickup process took only a minute so parking "illegally" was not really an issue. As for the pastries, I don't know why anyone would go stand and wait in line at Fondry nearby instead of ordering from here. The pastries here, especially the croissants, are actually much better. Their croissants have the proper crunchy on the outside and have the moist and airy layers on the inside. The almond croissant is one of best I've had. The raspberry pistachio danish had just enough sweetness. The miso butterscotch cookie had pretty subtle flavors of both. The ham and cheese croissant was very good as well. I've order take and bake rolls and cinnamon rolls during the pandemic and those are delicious too. I've ordered special Mother's Day gift boxes. You pretty much can't go wrong here. My go to chocolate almond croissant is car artisan chocolate in Pasadena but usually by the time I get there they're sold out most of the time so I've been on the looking for another place to get my croissant fix and I can safely say I've found it. You have to order two days in advance and pickup before 3pm but it's worth it for sure. Everything I got was good and I plan on trying the rest of their offerings over the next few weeks. What? How have I not reviewed this place? This is my gold standard for croissants and I'm still mad that Blue Bottle stopped carrying them. Luckily, they're still carried by places like Highlight Coffee and a couple local places in Culver City. You can find a list of carriers on their website and it is absolutely worth patronizing one of the listed coffee shops to try their pastries. That being said, all their pastries are solid... even their vegan stuff. I don't know what goes into or how it tastes so good but it makes me question my apprehension towards vegan food. Now the absolute best thing about Sugarbloom is that they offer take and bake croissants. You can order their ready made croissants OR a pack of frozens on their website and pick a day to pickup. Artichokes are spine-filled and tough then tender and delicious with a little butter & garlic. Pomegranates are a huge mess. All of these require drive, planning and often practice before you can derive a truly enjoyable experience from them. To not belabor the metaphor Sugarbloom has some terrific offerings crafted by people who know how to bake. If you are a fan of slow-food (like 48 hours slow) AND have the foresight to plan ahead AND don't mind shelling out $5+ for a single pastry AND can remember to go hunting for a not-particularly-obvious door on a day where you have no pressing meetings scheduled right afterward AND the patience to find a decent cup of something warm (and maybe go shopping for the good butter/jam) to enjoy with your fancy pastry then I'm sure this place is a delight. As it stands, it's just a little too much effort for not enough payoff. Credit to them for trying to keep the slow food movement alive and (I'm guessing here) finding a way to sell direct to consumers during a pandemic. But honestly you're probably better served finding one of the many coffee shops they deliver to and enjoying their goods there when you want them and with a nice drink to go with it. read more

Ordered some pastries after a friend recommended this place. I've never had a fresh cinnamon bun and my only reference was Cinnabon at the mall. The cinnamon roll from Sugarbloom was FANTASTIC and exactly what I expected. The pretzel croissant was perfect as well - it tasted like a pretzel on the outside and was perfectly flaky on the inside. THE GOODS Almond Croissant - the croissant is perfectly flakey and the taste is just right Ham and cheese - perfectly flakey as well, just the right amount of ham and cheese Kouign-amann - crispy, chewey. Possibly the best I've had Pain au chocolat - just the right amount of chocolate. Same excellent pastry as the others Berry danish - this Danish pastry is a little different than the other items I tried. The danish had a thicker bite but was still soft and flakey. Typically don't really like cinnamon rolls but this one really redefined what a good one should be. The spam kimchi thing tasted just like you would imagine but with a butter croissant. Strawberry almond was delicious as well I only got a couple of bites, my son ate most of it. The Kouign Aman was good but I didn't like the hard bottom but the tasted great. Must pre-order days in advance so plan accordingly! So after seeing Sugarbloom's baked goods in various cafes, I needed to go to the SOURCE. First the level of high key communication confirmation and detail is one of the best I've experienced in the client service realm. The pastries are amazing and dare I say even better than the cafes since you can't get much fresher straight from the Sugarbloom ovens. They have a days in advance pre order pickup system that works fantastically for me. I parked on the curb (then even kindly give a heads up regarding some uneven tree root sidewalk action) texted the number provided in the detailed email, and had my items within 2 minutes. Excellent system Sugarbloom and excellent baked goods!! I'm more of a savory palette and the pastries are buttery and flaky delights. I did try the following non savory: Blueberry lemon twist - solid flavor performance on both lemon and blueberry as well as a lovely subtle herby accent In the pastry, rosemary? Kimchi spam musubi croissant is amazing. I didn't know a savory asian flavor croissant could be so delicious. What makes it great is the flaky pastry of the croissant. White miso kouign amann was pretty good. I wasn't a huge fan of the caramelized bottom layer, which added a heavy crunch. The pastry itself is really good, though. Nice pull-apart texture. Our friends got us a box of treats as a gift. I'm vegan so they were searching for some vegan treats. They got the vegan options that were available, the strawberry shortcake doughnut, brownie cookies, pretzel croissant, curry puff and the Black Forest hand pie. They were all really delicious! My favorite was the cookie! Probably one of the BEST cookies I've ever had (compared to cookies even before I was vegan), chewy and not too sweet . Ordering takes some planning involved as you need to order two days in advance. They do offer delivery for those that are unable to pick up their order within the time frame. The pick up is super smooth and Sugarbloom sends an email after placing an ordering that goes over the process. They also make baked goods for local coffee shops so you could try their pastries that way. Their croissants are soooo flaky and have layers upon layers. Introduction: For those who have read my reviews covering croissants, it should come as no surprise that a legitimate croissant is hard to find. In Los Angeles the few places I deem to have good croissants are as follows: Proof Bakery in Atwater Village Chaumont in Beverly Hills Syndicate in Sierra Madre Clark Street in Echo Park and lastly, Sugarbloom Bakery in Glassell Park Amongst these bakeries, the top three are: Sugarbloom, Clark Street, and Chaumont. Clark Street and Sugarbloom beats Chaumont by a small margin while both Clark Street and Sugarbloom are essentially tied in terms of their respective croissants' quality. Having been informed by a friend, this is my first time visiting Sugarbloom as a shop; in the past I have already sampled their croissants at various coffee shops in Los Angeles. My favorite is their spam with kimchi croissant that they make occasionally once a month. Today I decide to get their ham and cheese croissant, spinach and cheese croissant, and pain au chocolat. While I like the pain au chocolat and spinach and cheese croissant just fine, it's their ham and cheese croissant I wish to talk more about. Food: Ham and cheese croissant When I picked up and got the croissant it's already cold unfortunately and hence the texture as well as flavor is compromised as a result. I have no doubt had the croissant been warm, the taste, flavors, and texture will be much better. Regardless, even when it's not warm, the croissant's texture is sound. The croissant's flaky and leaves traces of oil upon one's lips with each bite. Due to it not having been warmed, the first 2/3 of the croissant I taste mostly the black forest ham and less so of the other ingredients; it's not until the last 1/3 of the croissant that all the ingredients' flavors are tasted and becomes more pronounced in the palate. Service: Adequate and expedient. Price: Reasonable. Advice: Two days-notice is required for all baked goods. If you order on Thursday, you pick the croissants up on Saturday and if you order on Friday, you pick up the croissants on Sunday. read more

My faves are almond strawberry croissant, chocolate croissant, and the chocolate chip cookie w sea salt. I got excited and got a selection for the holidays and nearly kept everything to ourselves lol ;-D The pastry chef is Asian and the flavors really shine from the miso cookie, to the matcha donut and the seasonal matcha dipped croissant wc was a Valentines special. Pickup is seamless w texting instructions and text upon arrival to notify curbside pickup. Super hard to find No Signage but we followed map to their parking lot in back. Went to go in but double checked because again no signage found only in the comments section that it's Only Pre-order. So bummed we went to leave but someone had closed the gate. Only able to flag down baker from a window-- she stormed out and yelled at us that we were trespassing and to leave. Then shouting asked how we got in there which we told her gate was wide open when we pulled in. Bewildered and confused we asked politely to please let us out and she rudely yelled at us to leave and read the sign out front. As we pulled out there was a piece of 8x11 piece paper in window.If you are comfortable giving your business to an unhinged business that yells at a family with small children then this place is for you. Worth noting the number you are supposed to PRE ORDER from finally responded to our text after we were down the road. WOW. We have lived in Eagle Rock for four years and did a pickup from Sugarbloom yesterday for the first time. There is so much hype with Bub and Grandma's, and yes, it is good! But for pastries and croissants, Sugarbloom is next level. We ordered a solid spread: plain, chocolate, chocolate/hazelnut, ham/cheese and spinach/cheese croissants, brioche cinnamon rolls, blue berry muffins, cheddar/bacon biscuit, and a white miso kouign-amann. They were all delicious and it is no small feat to pull off a perfect kouign-amann (this is what truly separates Sugarbloom if you get one at Bub and Grandma's..). The spinach/cheese and ham/cheese croissants were easily the best I've ever had and incredibly savory (and robust). The blueberry muffins were very cake-like and excellent. The brioche cinnamon roll, with the not too sweet frosting, was perfect, and the bacon/cheddar biscuit was quite filling. Yes, I've read some negative reviews about ordering/pickup/wholesale. Come on folks- just go to the website and read what their instructions. It's very self-explanatory. Two-day preorder. Do it! You won't be disappointed, you just have to plan ahead. And truthfully, we didn't plan properly the first time.. I wrote them an e-mail and asked if there were any chance we could place a 24 hour order. They politely wrote back and said they were sorry they couldn't accommodate us. I appreciate the communication and respect their way of business. This is a place that clearly takes pride in their work and it's worth every penny. We look forward to becoming regular customers! read more

sugar bloom croissants are fantastic and very consistent. We get them every week and they are always excellent!! The people who make them are to be congratulated on the effort and care they obviously put in. They are as good as and mostly better than you can get in France. read more
