Yesterday I called this business to get more information about sugaring for my legs and ended up leaving a voicemail. Amanda got back to me the same day and even though she was not able to take me on as a client (too booked), she spent a full 20 minutes on the phone with me educating me on the process of sugaring and also was very honest about what kind of results to expect for various parts of my body given my hair type and even discussed other methods of hair removal for the areas that she thought may not respond quite as well to sugaring. Alice is very attentive and will go above-and-beyond to tweeze, point out next steps for personal care, and reschedule appointments (which I always always forget until she texts me). This place was recommended to me by my cousin-in-law. She gave me Amanda's contact information and I got such a quick response back from her. She is extremely busy but she is always so sweet and willing to accommodate my schedule. If you hate waxing or are afraid to get it done, get a sugar wax!! It makes the world of difference! It doesn't hurt nearly as much as a regular wax would, it leaves my skin looking smooth and not all red and bumpy, and the results last so much longer! We received a nice gift card for a facial here but had the worst first, and last experience! Alexis made my mother and I feel extremely uncomfortable when we arrived a bit late to our appointment. She was rude to us and not friendly or welcoming. It's so uncomfortable to think of trusting her to receive a facial as its a very personal experience. I asked to talk to an Owner - Alice wasn't any help and behaved even worse towards us so we asked for a refund. She then made such a hassle/ process to get the refund back to our original gift giver. I don't expect a reply back, well I don't want it, as I spoke to her minutes ago (oh she replied to this yelp and gave a list of rules and reasoning why its ok to be condescending to customers- its NOT ok even if a customer is running behind). What an unfortunate way to treat new clients who just wanted to have a relaxing facial for Mother's Day. Taking our business elsewhere! read more

Just discovered The Sweet Spot and I am officially in love! Tried sugaring once, years ago. Loved it. Could never find it as I moved around. Found Sweet Spot online and made an appointment, trying not to get my hopes up. But it far exceeded my expectations and was a wonderful experience! Their office is easy to find and has parking. It's bright and clean inside, really sharp looking, and comfortable. I loved the super warm welcome I got the minute I walked in. Alice spent a ton of time with me. Not once did she make me feel like she was a stressed about time. I never felt awkward. She's very skilled--her work was quick, painless (well, as painless as that stuff can be!), and *very* careful. It's not even 24 hours later and my legs are 100% healed up. Sugaring is so much nicer than waxing. It's the middle of winter right now, but I want to wear shorts today thanks to Alice! She's really, really good and I will def be going back every 6 weeks. She was upbeat and positive during the session, fun to talk to, very easy to be around. They were also great to work with as I made my appointment. I appreciated how quickly they responded to both phone and email. read more

i've been sugaring for about 3 years, the last 2 with amanda. she is fabulous and you will be in excellent hands! i first started seeing amanda at a salon down the street from work. she is efficient with her time (i never have to wait) and meticulous with her work. the salon is absolutely adorable. and clean. and safe. and conveniently located. and next door to freeport bakery which is always a good treat! the prices are competitive with other salons. and quite frankly, for a slight increase in price over wax, sugar is more sanitary, gentler on the skin, less painful and the hair grows back slower. so when you calculate that all in, it's a MUCH better buy than any wax service. and i waxed for 10+ years before discovering sugaring. call amanda and you will be in excellent hands! read more

I LOVE Alice! I've been going to her for Brazilians and arms for over two years. Like many others, I've found she's incredibly quick and does a great job. Compared to waxing this is much less painful and I feel like it lasts longer and hair grows back more softly. Plus, Alice has a lovely personality and she always remembers what's been going on in my life, even though I only see her every 5 weeks or so -- it makes the overall experience so much more positive than you'd normally associate with getting your hair ripped out! I stumbled on The Sweet Spot while searching for alternatives to waxing. I was nervous when I went in for my appointment- getting hair ripped out of your private parts isn't exactly something one looks forward to- but I was instantly reassured when Alice came in. She walked me through the process, explained what she was doing the entire way, and her super sweet personality and conversation(she kept me laughing!) helped to distract from the pain(which was a lot less than traditional waxing, at least for me). I have been looking for a place to go to have my nether region tended to since moving to Sacramento. I recently bought an Amazon Local Deal and was able to get in relatively fast. The woman that I spoke to on the phone when I booked my appointment gave me a lot of really good feed back on prepping beforehand and what to expect of the service. She was so nice that I purchased the deal while on the phone with her and booked my appointment with in fact HER! I am a sucker for good customer service - what can I say. The service that I went in for was called sugaring and I have to say that yes it did hurt in places, but nothing hurts worse than waxing I've decided. She used no strips, no sticks, no hotter than hades wax was applied to my so sensitive area. The end result has really been wonderful. The two ladies who own it are hilarious and I was fortunate enough to hang out for an additional 15 minutes and chat it up with them. This place has an all around good vibe. I booked my next appointment with Alice and will be seeing her in 4 weeks. read more

I saw Alexis for sugaring back in June. She was very friendly and made me feel comfortable. I wanted to wait to write a review after going to The Sugar Studio, because I wanted a comparison. At the time, I'd been sugared before but it had been a few years so I didn't want to review unfairly. The overall sugaring results were not bad, but they weren't where they should have been as far as strays and eveness of the "design line", if you catch my drift. There were also a few areas where it pulled pretty hard in the sensitive regions due to technique. When making the appointment, I'd asked how long it would take total for all areas being done and was told 2 hrs, so I booked a hair appointment after the sugaring appointment and allowed enough time for travel. I was on the table without a clock, so did not realize the time. The sugaring took close to 2 hrs & 45 minutes, so I ended up being an hour late for my hair appointment. By comparison, I had the same areas done by The Sugar Studio and it took 1 hour & 15 minutes with better results & less pulling with same amount of hair. Overall, I think Alexis may be newer at sugaring and doesn't quite have the technique down, not that she won't get there over time. I think once she gets her technique dialed in that she'll be great. read more

Oh, Amanda... where have you been all my life?! I absolutely love and adore this lady! After contemplating getting a brazillian wax for years, I finally made the decision to go for it. I did tons of research online and decided I wanted to try "sugaring" instead of the traditional waxing. Then, I came across The Sweet Spot Skincare. After reading the reviews on here, I knew I was going to be in good hands. Just like everyone says, Amanda instantly makes you feel comfortable. I came right out and told her how nervous I was but she made me feel more calm. I'm pretty sure I even squeezed her arm, haha! Did it hurt? Uh, yes! But after the 3rd or 4th session, the pain has almost completely gone away. Quick tip, do NOT drink caffeine within 24 hours of your appointment. I truly believe this makes a huge difference. I can't compare to any other wax experiences but people are always so surprised when I tell them that I'm in and out within 10 minutes. Yes, 10 minutes! This woman is a PRO!
