The prices are high, but the pies are good. You get what you pay for, most of the time (Have eaten pies from here 3 times). Mississippi Mud Pie is my favorite, and they also make a mean Key Lime pie. I would encourage everyone to stop in and try for themselves, beauty is very much in the pie of the beholder. read more

This is the greatest place to get desserts in the entire Midwest. The pastry chef is super awesome and friendly. I don't know her name but she has awesome hair. The cookies are so fantastic. Sugarfire Pie has a really cool atmosphere, it's fun place to stop for dessert. We ordered the cherry pie with crumb topping and the gooey butter slab. The cherry pie crust was delicious. The cherry pie filling was different for us, truly just cherries, not much "slurry", the sugary delicious gel that typically mingles with the cherries themselves. Different, not bad, good. The gooey butter slab was eh. The primary taste to it was flour. The serving sizes were good. Our friend got the cinnamon icecream and loved it. When we go back I want to try the salted caramel ice cream and my other half wants the strawberry bread pudding. Service was friendly and efficient. read more

This was my third visit to Sugarfire Pie since they opened. I was really excited to be in the Olivette area so I can stop by when I visit the Sugarfire BBQ location next door. I started by getting lunch and bypassed the pies they had in store in favor of going next door for dessert. I expected all the creative pies I saw the previous two times I was in such as stacked pies or inventive flavors. The pies they had in store were nothing spectacular and the only creative flavor was bacon cheddar which I don't eat pork. The place was empty and the girl at the counter was less than enthusiastic to see me. She just stared at me while I contemplated what to get offering no pleasantries or suggestions. I got the Sugarfire Pie which was buttery and flaky pretty delicious. Not sure it warrants the $5 price tag however. Next time I will likely just grab a slice at the BBQ side and skip the pie shop altogether. read more

This place is way overpriced! I really enjoy sugarfire barbecue, so I thought the pie place would be awesome. I was so wrong. I paid over eight dollars for one piece of cake that had pie inside of it. I was shocked to see how tiny the slice was! My husband ordered The sugarfire pie and it was tiny as well. Ordered the praline bread pudding to-go on my first (and probably, final) visit here. Staff/Service: I was nervous about the long disheveled and mostly unrestrained hair of the gals behind the counter (who handled and served the desserts), but they were friendly, used gloves, and managed to keep their hair out of my dessert. Ambience: I really liked the retro theme they had going in the decorations and enjoyed seeing the floor model tv. Price: I'm not used to paying $7.90 for dessert, but the bread pudding was, in my estimation, the size of 5 servings. I would have been happy to pay $4 for 1/3 of it. Product: The bread pudding was huge, heavy as a brick and appeared to be 1 part bread and 3 parts butter. I didn't care for how doughy the dessert was so I baked it for awhile in the oven at home-still very gooey and not really to my liking. It tasted so much like butter that it kind of felt like eating very heavy, undercooked, doughy garlic bread sprinkled with sugar and pralines. The Bourbon in the sauce helped me get more of it down but the whole thing oozed with butter which made my stomach frown. I liken the experience to my last visit to Six Flags--when it was over I was dizzy and felt like I could possibly hurl. I ended up throwing 1/3 of it away. I guess I'll have to add Sugarfire Pie to my list of things I'm too old to handle. (I'm only 34, BTW). read more

Although, I can see how someone with a real sweet tooth would love it. Might try the key lime pie next time. The employees were very nice and helpful and the place was cute. I love Sugarfire BBQ, but Sugarfire Pie is a bit overpriced for what you get. The pies are good, but nothing spectacular. I've had both the Cherry & Mississippi Mud. The latter tastes just like a brownie. $30 for a whole pie is just way too steep. I've had cheaper and better pies from diners or farmer's markets. My favorite thing about this place is the decor. I wanted to try the chocolate pecan cake since saw photos from other reviews. It is a cool concept but $6.00 for a piece seems just a tad high. Hate to say it but just so underwhelming. Good prices but everything we got was dry and lacking flavor. Red velvet whoopie was so dry and no flavor but the icing, the homemade pop tart was dry and not much filling in it, and the dolly pie thing was just gross. Can't believe the reviews are so low. I have had pies all over STL, and Sugarfire Pie has the best in the city, IMO. Their oatmeal cream pie is THE BEST EVER!!!! I've had them at Pint Size, Pie Oh My, and several other places, and Sugarfire has these on LOCK! I can't visit without leaving with both oatmeal cream pie and a hand pie. Hand pies are soooo delicious: they had strawberry/blueberry one recently that was just the bomb!!! Pie-wise, I like the pecan pie and their fruit pies, but the sugarfire pie is the best!!! Still need to check out the key lime pie... Also, their gooey butter slabs are delicious as well. Can't go wrong, really. I have yet to try the custard. I get what they're going for here, pie and ice cream, but I just can't see a time when I'd want the custard. Just gimme all the pie!!! read more
