Hands down, best brisket and ribs I've ever had. Perfectly cooked, melt in your mouth, juicy brisket and ribs that pull gently off the bone with just the right texture and chewiness. Pulled pork is also amazing. Pro-Tip: get cornbread toasted with honey butter! I also had an apple pie, which was good, but I should have asked if they would warm it up. I didn't love it cold. They have a great selection of sauces, the Texas hot isn't hot enough, but their white sauce is so so so good... I don't usually sauce my meats, but it's good enough to use a little. We stopped in to the new location down the road and got some food to go to watch the game- really fun atmosphere and the staff clearly loves what they do. It was a Saturday afternoon and the new location was not too busy.y ordered the turkey sandwich and fries. I ordered the Big Muddy and fries. I paid and we went to get our drinks. Our order met us as we got to table. My wife enjoyed the turkey sandwich and the fries were piping hot, perfectly fried and salted. The Big Muddy was great. Brisket, cheddar jalapeño sausage, lettuce, pickles, BBQ sauce and horseradish sauce. It was a bit messy, but the flavor was on point. The brisket was as tender as your mother's love and the sauces blended to add great flavor! The place is new and was super clean. The restrooms were clean and stocked. First, let me say the food was very good. I got the fried green tomato sandwich - yum! As a vegetarian I do appreciate what was offered. If you are picky and don't want to your food around the meats, you might have a little meat residue on your sando (wasn't a fan but was hungry). I don't write reviews often, but what my family and I experienced at this BBQ restaurant was unacceptable and deeply upsetting. From the moment we walked in, we were treated differently--ignored while others were seated and served promptly, and given curt, dismissive responses when we asked questions. It became painfully clear that we were being treated this way because of our race. Other patrons--who arrived after us--were greeted warmly and served quickly, while we were made to wait, overlooked, and made to feel unwelcome. No one deserves to be treated this way, especially not in a place that claims to serve the community. Food aside was alright once we received it very late unlike the people after us. But I cannot support any business that allows or tolerates racist behavior--whether it comes from staff, management, or anyone else representing the establishment. To the owners: Do better. It's BBQ, they have a lot of choices, a lot of sauces, but they just didn't hit for me. The ribs were meaty but the sauces and flavor struck out. The sides also seemed to miss for me, potato salad and cornbread. The cornbread is the key to any place and I should have tried it first. I picked up a to-go ordered that had been ordered online. Arriving 25 minutes before the scheduled pick-up time, I was impressed Sugarfire was willing to start the order so I wouldn't have a long wait. Then, it was perhaps another 30 minutes before plating it at home. The brisket and pulled pork were still moist and laced with smoky flavor. I have been to Sugarfire several times. The meat is tender and mouthwatering, and delicious! The wait staff is always pleasant and accommodating. The selections are great and unique for some. The rolls are huge and full of flavor you forget about the carbs! There are several different sauces to choose from right on the table. Once you have placed an order, the food is ready in minutes, sometimes the meat could be hotter, however, still delicious. I've been to this location a few times and have never had any problems. Tonight, was another story. After my husband and I had an awkward encounter with who I assume was the manager at the order counter, we proceeded to place our order. An older gentleman was inquiring about his hush puppy order and the manager yelled loudly over everyone else in the restaurant and informed the patron that he needed to order the hush puppies. I found her tone to be a bit curt, but let it go. My husband and I filled drinks and she began yelling at the gentleman again. The whole restaurant went quiet. It was a very awkward silence across the whole restaurant. We got our food and went home. The whole ride home, my husband and I talked about how rude the manager was. When we got home, we noticed one of our sides were missing. I found it quite ironic that my side was missing after the whole experience we just had as the restaurant. Not impressed with the manager tonight. I didn't feel like driving 15 minutes back to the store to inform the lady of the mistake. It made me question if that guy paid for his hush puppies twice. Pretty good, overall. But gruff service, and inconsistent portions and meat quality knock 'em down. I've worked both BOH and counter service; I know there's a reason or ten you don't put most kitchen hands in front of customers. Seasoned cooks and chefs tend to be a bit coarse and surly- it comes with the work. Unless I miss my guess, they have their cooks working the service line here, and the result is unwelcoming. The food was ok. We got the ribs, of course, which is what they are known for. Two half-racks with two sides and a fountain drink for well over $20 apiece all-in; you expect it to be excellent at that price. I didn't come here for the macaroni and coleslaw, after all. My wife's portion was much smaller than mine. The smoke and moisture in the meat was inconsistent, too - one bite was moist, the next dry and mealy. One bite would be smokey and rich, the next unseasoned or unsmoked. Now I've smoked thousands of pounds of ribs, using various methods, when I was in the business. I would get this sort of result when I over-loaded a smoker. The meats would overlap, be under or over-exposed to heat, and the seasoning would rub off as the slabs were handled causing just this sort of inconsistent flavor and moisture. I think they might want to look at their method. To the managers: I think you have a good franchise concept, but quality sacrificed on the altar of profit (when your business is high-end specialty meats) is going to bite you in the butt. In some other city this might be considered great Q, but this is St. Louis, baby, and you are NOT the only game in town. I hope they don't let the fact that they have multiple stores now dilute their product quality, as so many franchised restaurants seem to do. Recommended, if you can't manage to drive to a better joint. And you probably can, sadly. I wish them much luck. read more

We thought this would be great based on the ratings, but apparently KC BBQ has spoiled us. My favorite thing we tried was the pork belly hush puppies and the pickles. They did have several tasty sauces - but no explanation on any of them. The coffee one was my fav with the 47 being my guys fav. We ordered the 2 meat platter to share. The pulled pork was dry, the brisket was fatty and neither were the same level of smoke I would expect to see. When we walked in. No one greeted us, the guy who was cutting and chopping the meat didn't smile or recognize we were figuring their menu out. The fries were sad and greasy, the cornbread was mealy and dry. We were on a trip and decided to stop in St. Louis to check out the town and get some bbq from 3 different places on our way to Columbia, Missouri. Sugarfire was one of them. Unfortunately this ranked third place in the group. I think if we had had Sugarfire on it's own, we would think this was a good BBQ option, but when you have it compared right next to the others at the same time, it easily misses the mark. Here is what we got: Pork belly hushpuppies - something different, but they were only okay, more on the dry side. I prefer the standard hushpuppies Hash casserole - pretty good! Mac & Cheese - creamy, but not very cheesy. Was not a fan. Pork and Ribs - both were good, but not great. Again, I think if we had them on it's own, we would think this would be your standard good bbq place, but there are just better options in the St. Louis area. My husband gave them a 2/5 and I give them a 3/5. read more

I ordered The Carolina with pulled pork and a side of Mac and Cheese. The sandwich was very tasty and I loved the coleslaw and mustard. The Mac and cheese was interesting but I enjoyed it. It has some type of meat and seasoning which was unique. The staff behind the counter wasn't the most inviting but the girls working the registers were friendly. Just seemed weird we stood their reading the menu for awhile and none of the guys behind the counter greeted us or asked if it was our first time to offer suggestions. Something small, but this is what makes a place stand out from an average spot. The staff cleaning tables were very friendly. Overall, we'd definitely come back and try some more of their options. O'fallon location. We have carried-out for years with varying results. We were excited to try their new location. There were four of us. Two of us had our food before we sat down. Two of us waited about 15 minutes until we got up and asked about the delay. One of us got a brisket plate. The brisket was delicious but there were only two slices of brisket. One of us ordered a Big Muddy (brisket sandwich with cheese) but got some kind of pulled pork sandwich. When we complained, we were told it was the same price so it should be fine. Since we had waited so long, we didn't push the point. The meals were expensive and the service was poor. The place was loud. Except for the brisket, the food was just OK. Just driving through the area and thought we'd try some BBQ. Have had BBQ from Carolina to Memphis, East Texas and K.C. so I know good BBQ. First, the sausage was delicious as was the fried artichokes. Next, the brisket was tasty but dry and the ribs were under cooked, dry and the meat did not fall off the bone like they should. Absolutely great BBQ, love the brisket and pulled pork but the sides could definitely use some work. I use to really like the sides but on my last visit the beans we absolutely horrible. It's a nice place with friendly employees and they're doing their best to keep social distancing in place. Their pick up is easy and seamless even though they forgot part of out order. BACON WRAPPED BACON!!! Part of the event was to raise money for charity... and your fee provided you a ticket and you put your one ticket in the jar of the food you liked best... and SugarFire got our votes. Since then we've visited the Valley Park location several times... and this was our first visit to O'Fallon. It's as consistently good as all the locations. The menu is so wide and deep an good that it's hard to pick what to order. We split a half slab of ribs, mac n cheese and some applesauce. We just did finish it all. This place was great!! We devoured everything we had. We stopped in on our way from Georgia to Colorado. We were hungry and Sugar Fire did not disappoint! We got two orders of the Meat daddy to split between the 4 of us. The sides we chose were, baked beans, fries, Mac and cheese and potato salad. We added toast. Sorry no pix but once we dug in it was a lost cause. We got the Meat Daddy Plate, which is presumably for one person. I don't know who that guy is but for the two of us it was more than enough to share. Turkey, ribs, brisket, sausage were all just delicious. Juiciest and most tender smoked turkey I've ever had. We really dug the Coffee BBQ Sauce, reminded me of Red Eye Gravy. We wanted to try the pork belly hush puppies but we'll have to wait till next time, after we've quit our Keto Diet (again). read more
