I don't write Yelp reviews, but this place had me at atmosphere. I ventured in for the Wednesday evening gambit and left with the best haircut I've had in years (probably ever if I am honest). Seriously- my hair became zero maintenance (my personal dream), and I went 10-11 weeks before I felt like it needed attention again. Since it was a teaching moment, I got a peak into April's process of seeing my hair in relation to my face, my body, and even my head (which turns out is quite pointed). Who knew? Who cares! She made me look good! Isn't that what we all want? Instead of cringing when I catch myself in the mirror, I find myself doing a happy double-take. Fast forward to my appointment for color (included with the free haircut was a consultation for a discounted color). I am going gray and was interested in a graceful transition. I was prepared for being trapped for 2 hours, but the music, art, and general vibe kept me happy. Every song came off some playlist of mine (and 1 or 2 that should be on my next playlist). Every age and groove is welcome here (celebrated), and I like it! David worked the same magic with color that April did with cut. This lowly veterinarian feels like a rock star, but April should definitely stick with the Mick Jagger drink coasters (He's got great hair if you've noticed). I have been bald for 17 years, and I kept seeing these videos online of guys getting these hair systems applied to their heads, so when I heard that Louie at Suite 303 was offering this service, I thought I would give it a try. I kept my expectations low, cause when you are bald, you think of bad toupees that you see on people on the street and you know it looks bad and I never wanted that for myself. Well I love my new hair. I have included pictures below to show you the difference it has made in my look. I look at least 10 years younger, if not more. Our hair and quarantine. Not always a love story. For me, this hasn't been the case thanks to April Barton's genius. Luckily I was cut four days before New York City shutdown. Still, it's been over fourteen weeks now and you'd think I'd be suffering the way I see my girlfriends on Face Time or when I look at my boyfriend's mane or my mother's bangs (the only two people I have access to). Nope. Actually when I've been out walking the dog my neighbors ask me, "Did you get a haircut?" I did get one but it was before we donned masks to take out the garbage. I'm the most coiffed person on any Zoom meeting. I love the feeling of being freshly styled, but in loo of that is a haircut and style that grows out this beautifully. I can patiently wait in line when Ste. 303 Salon reopens its doors because April's cuts stand the test of time. WHAT I ASKED FOR: keep my volume and length, soft layers all over (hair length was at my lower back) WHAT I RECEIVED: thinned out, razored, medium length cut with uneven layers. I've been giving myself a haircut here and there just to bring my hair back to a length where I could get it cut elsewhere. PRICE: The cut was ~$190 STYLIST: Katie. If you want to just let her do as she pleases and you do not have a look in mind, you may come out of it semi-satisfied. She did not listen to me- not at the beginning, during or end of the cut as she kept saying I was going to love the cut. I could not believe how bad it looked. Because of Katie Riesco, my friends believe I have mastered the art of a good blow out. Straight or wavy, my hair always seems to look better than it ever did. Katie also suggested I try a slightly longer, easier-to-manage take on bangs, which oddly enough has softened certain features on my face, namely my Cro-Magnon jaw. Angela is a great girl and an amazing hairstylist. I came in to get a haircut, and I came out with an education on the symmetry of my face as it relates to my hair. She did an incredible job cutting my hair and she styled it really nice too. Gentleman, if you want someone that will listen to what you want to achieve with your hair and bring additional value, Angela would be an amazing choice. I would follow Katie all over the world. I've been seeing her for years, and now I live in DC and have to come to NYC for my haircuts... and I'm not even that high maintenance of a person. She's just the best. I almost always get stopped on the sidewalk after leaving--or even while still in the salon!-- to get asked who does my hair. Seriously. It makes me feel like I'm in a sitcom or something. And my hair's not even that cool. I don't want to review her and make her even more popular, but I guess that's selfish... Only downside (and I can't take away a star for this) is that it's gotten really expensive... but her cuts grow out so well that I justify it by not needing to get it cut as often. read more

I visited the new location at 7 Bond Street. I had my hair cut and styled by Mandee. I followed Mandee from her former position at another salon. She is "shear" perfection! I am SO happy with my cut and style. Mandee is a real talent and I am lucky to have found her. I can't say enough good things. I was so excited to get a gilt discount certificate for this place. It's really close to me and I thought possibly it could be my new salon. Unfortunately the smoothing treatment that I got was poorly done by Lisa and I won't be going back. Not only did she seem angry from the beginning but she didn't use a brush the entire time and used her hands to do the whole process causing a lot of my hair to be pulled out in front of me. Additionally, anything I asked for like a part or to not iron my bangs she became more irritated by. At the end the whole process looked terrible and messy. While I would like to say she was the only rude person there, I can't because the woman who wash my hair also acted like she was doing me a favor. I still have a certificate for a haircut but I guess I won't be going back. read more

I met Katie when I moved to New York two years ago through a good friend. I was in desperate need of a stylist in the city who was an expert at tackling long layers and my friend immediately recommended Katie. She was working at another studio at the time and let me know she'd be leaving for Suite 303 - I didn't even question following her to a different salon (I would've followed the woman to a different borough if need be)! My hair has always been my baby, so I'm EXTREMELY picky about who I let come near it. She recently gave me some new bangs for the fall/winter and needless to say they are nothing short of perfection. I've received countless compliments from friends, family and coworkers. Even from people who claim to not generally like the look of bangs. Hopefully I'll get to see her soon for a bang trim - she's also one of the sweetest people you'll ever meet, so it always feels like I'm going to see a friend rather than a stylist. Christina Crosthwaite gives hands down the best haircut I've ever had. Her cuts have incredible movement and and are respectful of hair texture, shape, and any unusual features (important for people like me who have three different hair textures and four cowlicks). I've had cuts ranging from a super short pixie to a heavily layered cut that reached to my mid back. The cuts she's given me are always more beautiful that I could imagine and are completely respectful of my desired level of maintenance - they look great air dried, they can be spruced up with under 10 minutes of effort and only one product, and they grow out perfectly. I stopped getting my hair cut after getting one terrible cut in NYC... I'm so glad that she's here so I can go back to having fabulous hair! read more

I am extremely picky about my hair to the point of not allowing anyone near it and then I just prepare myself for the worst whenever I have to get it cut!
