We wanted to try a new Thai place and my mom remembered going to Sukho Thai years ago. I got the pad see ew with tofu and my friend got the pad Thai with chicken and shrimp. She also had jasmine tea and a sprite. Portions were good and prices were reasonable. However, the pad see ew was less flavorful compared to other Thai restaurants in the area (Delicious Thai Kitchen & Soi 4). Service was very friendly. Restaurant was not crowded at all. While I'm more inclined to go to the other 2 restaurants I mentioned if I want Thai in the area, I wouldn't be opposed to coming back if someone I know really wants to go there and I'd try something different. They had a lot of different items so maybe another dish will be a hit! read more

Another sad thai experience. What's with the cheap Wendy's Italian dressing on the salad? No wonder this place was empty during lunch. Their green curry lacked flavor and their thai tea had tea grounds on top. Just a huge dissapointment. Mango sticky rice was okay, overly sweet with too much syrup. This place was empty for a reason. 5/5 Sukho Thai never disappoints! I ordered the Tom Kha, Vegan Fried Rice, Crab Fried Rice, and Beef Pad Kee Mao, and every single dish was cooked to absolute perfection. The flavors were rich, balanced, and so delicious -- like a whole symphony on my taste buds. The Tom Kha was creamy and comforting, the Beef Pad Kee Mao had the perfect spicy kick, and both fried rices were packed with flavor. You can really taste the freshness and love in every bite. Yummy doesn't even begin to describe it. Although I got our food to go, the service was excellent, and fast, and I got to enjoy a little bit of ambience that was beautifully Thai exotic -- from the wall art and paintings to the unique furniture and stunning ceiling lamp fixtures. It truly feels like a little escape to Thailand the moment you walk in. Highly recommend for anyone craving amazing, authentic Thai food and a cozy, vibey atmosphere. They never apologized for the delay in service, simply informed me that they're working on it and I had to wait an undisclosed amount of time after already waiting double the amount of time. The manager/owner responded to me curtly and dismissively, telling me to "take a seat there and just wait" because they were busy, in a tone that was condescending towards me for simply asking that question. I had a crying baby in my car at the curb, of course I had to consider leaving the order given a lack of time estimation. Prior to that, I had no reason to be upset, my interaction with the hostess had been perfectly pleasant. Although I was understandably upset, I never acted aggressively. The restaurant's response was unreasonable and escalated the situation further by accusing me of being aggressive when I was definitely not. The false accusation was distressing and was quite uncalled for. I did not express myself physically in any way, I merely spoke with an upset tone while remaining polite in my words. It seems that the restaurant owner will classify any minor unpleasantry as aggression and step up their attitude in turn. Despite the initial very unpleasant interaction, and that I had a crying infant, I still returned to pick up and pay for the food despite the very unpleasant initial interaction because I genuinely wanted to support what I thought was a good local business. Instead, after paying, I was treated like a thief over a receipt signature. Rather than simply asking for the signature, their staff acted aggressively and even physically stopped me, which was completely inappropriate. My kindness was rewarded with even worse treatment. The situation could have been easily defused if they had treated me with basic courtesy as a customer experiencing frustration. Instead, they escalated the situation at every opportunity, placed all the blame on the customer, failed to follow their own stated policies, and were dishonest about what occurred here. I would urge others to keep this experience in mind when considering this restaurant. To the owner: if you were the manager on duty that day, then I'll offer this advice, you are in the customer service business. If escalation and deflecting blame are your default responses, and if you lack the ability to reflect upon a situation and learn, you may be better suited to a different line of work. This entire experience, from the encounter at the restaurant through your response here, was a needless waste of my time that could have been avoided with basic professionalism and some very simple courtesy. read more

This restaurant was impeccable. The food was amazing, but not as amazing as our server Dylan Oliver. He met every need we could ever want and more during our 2 hour stay at this establishment. The bathroom was lovely and smelled nice but there was ice inside of the urinal. The lavender gave me the calmness I needed to finish my meal with delicious candy on the house. I've been trying to find a new Thai spot cause my favorite one closed. This by far is the best one in the area. Everything is so well seasoned and will be coming back often. I ordered the roti with yellow curry sauce and pork pad Thai. Again very well seasoned. The roti isn't super greasy like others I've tried. I personally like sweeter pad thai so this is perfect. It's not super sweet but I've had some with almost no flavor and all color. The price is a bit more expensive than others but well worth it for great food. Service is a bit slow only because the served looks young and new but I'm in no rush and again she seems new. Place is clean and lit will, great atmosphere. read more

Have normally had a good meal at the restaurant but considering some in the household were under the weather, we decided to do takeout. Was surprised at the difference in quality. Pad kee mao was gummy and felt more representative of leftovers than a freshly cooked meal. The fried rice had very large clumps of rice glued together and again, felt more like leftovers. The sweet potatoes were quite good, albeit a small portion size. Overall quite disappointed. read more

Prior to the remodel, Sukho Thai had the absolute freshest, most delicious, veggie fried rice. They have changed the recipe. It no longer has peas, and they have unfortunately added green beans (which just seem like rubber), zucchini, and more brown mushrooms. I have been a few times and this seems to be the new recipe. Came here on a Thursday evening and it was pretty empty. We got the angel wings as an appetizer since stuffed wings seemed like an interesting concept. They were pretty good. I also got the Kao Soi as my main dish which is my go to at Thai places. I didn't love the initial sweetness in taste (the spicier flavors came as an aftertaste) but it was still pretty solid. 5* This place is consistently fantastic! I have been getting food from here throughout the pandemic and the flavors, freshness and service had been impeccable. This local business really is a gem and I eat here whenever I can! My go to orders are the Green curry chicken ($14 approx) which is full of delicious vegetables, well cooked chicken and the best green curry ever! It is light, flavorful and well seasoned 12/10 and the Eggplant Tofu which is such a great way to eat healthy because the flavors are on point! Perfect spice and perfect preparation every time 12/10. If you like eggplant you will love this dish! The two items and other dishes on their menu are good value for money and such great meal options to take back home. What I love is that its a healthy and well balanced meal every time :) I saw they recently opened indoor dining as well and have specials for lunch and eating indoors. Only been once and just got two things, so this is not a comprehensive review. Fresh rolls - some of the lettuce was wilted and turning brown in a way you could taste. They didn't hold together super well. Flavor was okay, could use more basil and the addition of mint. Some parts of the wrapper were so doughy it was kinda hard to chew. Disappointed they came with a sweet sauce instead of peanut sauce. Wonton soup - nice amount of veggies and decent broth. Light on the shrimps with only two in there. My real complaint is the chicken wontons. The chicken was garlicky but no ginger or any other flavors apparent. The wrappers seemed homemade, very doughy and thick, poorly shaped. The meat was generally half hanging out and then half of the dumping was a big dough clump. This place is a little cheaper than other places near by but not worth it IMO. read more

Came here to meet up with some friends and saw that Sukho Thai had pretty solid reviews. Service was pretty good, and the atmosphere is pretty standard. Food was great! Really great prices for Bay Area food (College Ave more so!) and when they say spicy, they mean spicy! Definitely would recommend! read more

Thank you, Sukho Thai, for the wonderful shelter-in-place dining experience! I ordered via their website and drove over to pick up my food - was ready super quickly. The pick-up experience was really simple and sanitary (they even are sanitizing the pens that people use to sign the receipts). I was able to eat the delicious veggie spring rolls and pad see ew from the comfort of my couch while supporting one of my favorite local restaurants. Can't wait for my next take-out experience! PS: if possible, call directly and just order via the phone and go pick up. that way, more of the money goes to the restaurant rather than third-party apps / delivery services read more

I've enjoyed this popular College Ave. Thai spot in the past on random weekday dinners when I used to live in Oakland. Ambiance is simple, authentic with warm colors, service was prompt and attentive, and the food was very tasty. I highly recommend the crispy chicken basil wings (that savory sweet sauce is addicting!), pad se ew, basil eggplant chicken, pad Thai, and pineapple fried rice, although I'm sure most of the food is delicious. I wish I'd taken photos of last night's dinner. A group of eight of us ordered dinner, starting with the papaya and mango salads and the fresh rolls. Everything was delicious and fresh. I was pretty sure I would't like the fresh rolls because I have strong opinions about everything, but I was wrong. They were just so fresh and tasty and BIG - twice the size of what is usually served, although a bit more expensive. One order easily served four of us. Then there were the dinner orders: eggplant with tofu, yellow, green and red curries. They did a nice job of everything. The only advice I have is to order one rice for two people because they're generous with their servings. The wait staff is attentive and friendly. Maybe our new favorite Thai! read more

Pretty typical offerings for a Thai restaurant. They also have organic dishes which is a big plus. Good food overall. What stood out most for me was the service. All the staff were kind, attentive and polite. That made the dining experience so nice. My friend recommended this place but I found it to be just okay, especially since there are so many great Thai places in the surrounding area. I got the beef larb salad since I wasn't hungry - this was actually pretty good because of the light dressing! It was a little sour and spicy - perfect to add for freshness. My friend didn't finish her food (she's the one that recommended this place) because she said it didn't taste the same as usual. She also mentioned the wings were a bit too fried. Mango salad and pad thai were both delicious. My sister and I really enjoyed their take on mango salad. It was extremely flavorful and had different depths of flavor and textures (apple crisps with mango was a great contrast). Pad thai was good as well and had a generous amount of shrimp. I knew I would eat Thai today, but didn't know where. Drove by here and said, why not! The restaurant was beautiful! The music was perfect, very peaceful. They had plenty of choices. Today I chose the Spicy Basil Fried Rice with Beef. I like medium spicy. The server brought out this massive plate of food and my eyes opened wide. The rice was beautifully put together with a nice blend of veggies with the beef and rice. The flavor was great. It definitely had spice, but I could still taste the combination of flavors which was nice. I think their hours are a bit odd, they only open for lunch a couple days a week. I was happy to see Sukho Thai reopen, however, the food is not the same. The fried tofu cubes in the Pad Thai were overly large and dry. The tofu used to be smaller before. Also the Pad Kee Mao was drenched in chili oil and unnecessarily hot. The spiciness dominated the entire dish and it was hard to taste anything else. Then the Papaya Salad was not spicy at all and so very bland. They have done away with lunch portions for the noodles and the amount of food received was generous, but I still prefer the flavors of the old Sukho Thai. read more
