This is a good neighborhood Chinese. The waiters are polite and the service prompt. We ordered several items but none really was out of this world but none was bad either. it is more of a 3.8 review. What bothered me was the rather monochord flavor lacking spice , sweetness or simply some umami. I asked for some hot sauce but that did not help much either.

I arrived spontaneously last Friday telling my angel to have a parking space opened up right in front if I was to eat at Lin Jias. And sure enough, there was a space right in front waiting for me. Amazing since the restaurant was packed, with every table full and people standing waiting for orders or to be seated. I ordered the Generals chicken as it is Mary organic chicken and less spicey than the kFC A meat dish is about $21 Then I ordered the east broccoli stir fry which I was around $16. Plus a side of brown rice. The veggies were fresh. The service was excellent. It was a lot of food per dish that I had leftovers. The lady was so nice to top my boxed leftovers with more brown rice. I had a pleasant experience. The food digested blissfully.

I ordered the wonton soup to go and it was so comforting and delicious!! I had a long day and this really hit the spot. The wontons are flavorful and soft- and all the veggies are cooked to perfection. Also has a good veggie to wonton ratio. I added some chili crisp to mine and it was toooooo good. I definitely will be picking this up for dinner again. Also --the staff was really nice!! I had my hands full because I picked this up on my way back from Trader Joe's and the server opened the door for me so I could walk through without a struggle. I really appreciated it. Kindness goes a long way :)

Absolutely hands down the best noodle dish in the Bay Area! The dish- Spicy Canton Noodles. I have extolled this dish before, but I need to add that over the years, this dish has remained consistently excellent. I will travel miles to get it. Lin Jai is a contemporary twist on Chinese cuisine and very creative. Service is always friendly and efficient. Usually, I get it with shrimp, but this time, I tried it with pork... just as good. The noodles are large, 'beefy', delicious, and seared perfectly, with a slight char. The other ingredients just add substance and further d flavor to the dish, including the vegetables. It's hard to adequately describe this dish as it is complex. It just does meld so well together. The spicy level is moderate, and I typically request extra spice. It remains an amazing dish. Try it!

Back again, I have to say this place still deserves a five star rating. The menu changes periodically, and the dishes are always such an amazing array of flavors, textures and aromas. This was a birthday lunch with a friend and we dug deep and ordered - almost everything, that looked good. We had Hakka Fresh Rolls, Won Ton Soup with shrimp, Papaya Salad, Clear Noodles with Shrimp, and Changsha Beef. This was an amazing meal and the only thing preventing us from ordering or eating more was our full bellies. Everything was fresh, colorful and incredibly flavorful. This place is my go to when I want something that feels good to the body and the soul!

I haven't been here for a long time. The food was very good. I really liked the fact that they had okra. It is my favorite vegetable and hardly anyone has it. I really enjoyed everything else. The service was good and the restaurant was nice and clean. I will be back.

I have been here a couple of times; once dine in and once for takeout! This place is became one of our new favorite spots. All the staff work really hard and are so friendly and attentive. The food tastes so clean and there is nothing we didn't like. We had never noodles, shrimp fried rice, shrimp rolls as take out and the take out quality is just as good as dining inside. Recommend the kfc, hot and sour soup, and a amazing noodle plate I forgot what it was called! But amazing!!!! Def must try if in the lakeshore area!!!

This time, we ordered a few dishes to try - the classic sesame paste noodles, Shan Dong chicken, the fried rice with shrimp, and the hot spicy eggplant. Since we did order delivery on a busy Saturday night, it took a little over an hour for our food to arrive. The food was expertly packed and we were given plenty of utensils and napkins. The sesame paste noodles are one of my favorite dishes here, there's a balance of sweet and salty offered in the creamy sesame paste sauce that's so addicting. I've always been a big fan of the hand-pulled noodles which are thick, bouncy and chewy. The Shan Dong chicken is deep fried and coated in a delicious sauce. It is more of the sweeter side if you're looking for something that's spicy. I appreciate that we were given large pieces as well! The fried rice with shrimp is amazing - I love the crunch of the green onion, the softness of the fried egg, and the texture of the rice and veggies which weren't soggy and still held a nice bite. Last but not least, the hot spicy eggplant was a great choice because it's usually the trickier dish to cook as eggplant can turn really soft and mushy. I was delighted that with the way it was prepared, the large eggplant pieces still held a tender texture that did not fall apart. I also enjoyed the sauce that was paired with the eggplant, which is oyster-sauce based and added a pleasant sweetness as well. I'm always looking forward to my next visit and I love supporting Shan Dong!

They close super early, so get there in time for take out for dinner (I think they close at like 6?) Parking is an actual nightmare unless you're willing to pay or walk. But that's China Town for you. Service is fast and friendly. I like that they let me practice my Mandarin. It can feel a little crowded at times, but that's the price you pay for really good food.

Getting right to it, 4 stars because it's so affordable! However, there are some things I want to…read morepoint out that would actually make this spot more of a 3 star visit. 1. The attached parking garage charges $2/every half hour. Granted, this is no where near SF parking rates, it's still an additional fee. Street parking is super hard to find, and the streets are hectic, but you can test your luck (and patience). They use little tokens now that you have to pay for before exiting. Make sure you hold onto it because a lost token will run you $48 for the day rate. 2. The spot is poppin. It's not a complaint, that's a great thing! However it's really small inside so if there's a wait, you do have to line up in a single file line along a divider wall, where you can watch diners eat. Right next to you is the take out line for BBQ orders. It can get really claustrophobic. Tables do move fast as they're quick to bring out food, however you may be asked to just share a table with someone else. They have a couple round tables for the communal dining, or larger groups (up to 8). This is an ideal spot for 2-4 people. 6+ may cause you to wait longer for seating. 3. The tap water tastes kind of weird. They bring you a hot cup of tea too but the herbal taste is a bit too strong for me. 4. The bbq items are just okay :( I did a 3 item bbq combo with rice for about $21. You get a generous portion of meat, rice and a few pieces of steamed Chinese broccoli (gai lan). No sauce to dip or anything, but they do have a black bean sauce on the table to use. The sauce is pretty salty though, so just keep that in mind when you're adding it on. No spicy condiments on the table unfortunately. The duck was decent, but the bbq pork was a bit too lean for me. It wasn't overly sweet though so that was nice. The roast pork wasn't crunchy at all!! For some reason, they thin sliced it, instead of cut it into cubes. I love roast pork for the crunch so this was disappointing. The skin was more chewy than crunchy. All of the meats were tender though! 5. Fresh shrimp rice roll was hot and steamy and the price is cheaper than some dim sum spots ($7.50 for this one i think). However, you also get less shrimp. The sauce poured on was also kinda thin, and not sweet or umami enough. The rice roll itself had a good chew though, silky but a little thick. It holds up well while eating. The proportion go shrimp to rice noodle is waaaay off though. 6. Wonton noodle soup was good! This seemed like the crowd favorite as most everyone ordered this. The noodle could have had a bit more chew to it, but the wontons were bouncy and the broth comforting. You get a couple pieces of chinese broccoli with this too which is nice. The service was efficient and our main server was nice. She spoke english and actually smiled back. They take card payment too, so that's convenient. You really get some bang for your buck here, but I'd probably stick to taking food to go.

You know a dish is good when you tell yourself, "Oh, I'm just going to try a little bit of this."…read moreAnd then you can't stop eating it. This was my experience with pretty much every dish I ordered on a recent trip to Yu Yu Za Zang. I'll admit this is one of those places I've walked or driven past for years and have always meant to try but just never got around to it. But I finally had an opportunity to drag my cousin/regular dining buddy with me. We ordered Yang Jang Pi (also known as Double Skin in some places), regular jajang (spelled zazang here) myun, and tang sue yuk (beef - which is the traditional Korean meat for this dish). My cousin and I are huuuuuge fans of the Double Skin at Great China in Berkeley, so the Double Skin here had a pretty high bar to reach. We were pleasantly surprised to find it more than held its own. The portions of everything were very generous, and the mustard dressing was nice and spicy. Perhaps the veggies were not quite as crunchy as Great China's, so not as much of a variety of textures, but this Yang Jang Pi was still delicious, and I still think about it days after our visit. The jajang (zazang) myun was also very generously portioned and pretty tasty. I haven't had any in Oakland in a while, so hard to say how it compares, but I would definitely eat it again. The beef tang sue yuk was incredible. Again, large portion, perfectly crispy outside, tender beef inside, and one of the best sweet and sour sauces I've ever had with this dish. The vibe is simple and clean; nothing fancy, but I went for the food, so I was fine with that. The service was also friendly and fast. There were barely any people there on a Saturday evening, which made me sad, because the food really is good. I can't wait to try the rest of their menu. They also have soju and beer. Although Hanshin Pocha next door is popular, I could see Yu Yu Za Zang being a decent spot for delicious, very reasonably priced food that one can share with friends while having a couple of rounds of drinks. And in this economy, aren't we all looking for a good deal?

The one lady seemed to be doing the order taking, table service and cashier. When she wasn't busy, she socialized with regular customers. The interior appears old and outdated. There's cozy booths along the wall, and larger tables for groups. Decor (3/5). Service Grade (5/5). - Wor Won Ton Soup, Grade (5/5), a bit pricey at $14.95, but the soup was loaded with at least 12 plump dumplings. Along with chopped cabbage, shrimp, beef, and chicken. I added a splash of soy sauce, and it was perfect. - Salt & Pepper Shrimp, Grade (3/5), Plump and fresh, but under seasoned. These shrimp are fried and served with the shell on. You have the option of peeling them, or eating them whole. I usually pull the head off, and eat it. They should be salty and a little spicy. These shrimp were not very salty. I had to dip them in red chili oil to bring the taste out. Maybe they just use a different recipe, but I won't order them again. (Price: $19.95). Overall, a nice experience. I gave the server a nice tip, and she gave me a handful of fortune cookies. If I'm in the area, I might return and try other dishes.
