My first time eating here and I had a nice experience. The staff was very friendly and attentive and the food that was served was delicious. The crab fried rice had real crab pieces in it and was so tasty. Chicken sautéed with vegetables was also a hit. The veggies were crisp and not mushy, and packed with flavor. Pad see ew was another dish that we enjoyed. Stir fried noodles with a bit of egg and broccoli mixed in is something I've always liked. Don't forget to order the thai iced tea! read more

I used to love this place and was happy that it reopened. A friend and I went for dinner shortly after they reopened. I had the eggplant basil stir fry and was happy that the flavors were as good as before. However, the quality of the beef has gone down, to the point where I didn't want to finish the beef. I wish they would just charge a few dollars more and serve better quality meat. I left thinking that from now on I will only order tofu there as I don't like to eat low quality meat. read more

We picked up some delicious lunch today. Walked in and ordered, waited outside for 10 minutes, walked home and ate about 10 minutes later. The green curry chicken was still hot, very fresh, and so flavorful. My new favorite. With green beans spinach bell peppers zucchini green curry white rice and chicken. Beware of Tom Yum Soup, mine was filled with mostly lemongrass and Ginger...here's what I was able to pickup. Good flavor but my taste was completely changed when I bit into a massive piece of ginger followed by lemongrass. A disappointment... This has got to be one of the best Thai food spots in the Oakland area! I first tried Sukho with my coworkers on a hunch to find a new lunch place and then came back to try them for dinner with a friend because it was so damn good! Sukho Thai, you are DOING the damn thang, baby! I usually save the spiel on the food for last, but not todaaaaay! Their delicious FOOD deserves to be mentioned right off the bat! EVERYTHING that I've tried here thus far has tasted absolutely wonderful! Let's begin with their curries... top notch boo! And nothing less! My favorite thus far has to be their pumpkin curry! The flavors are ridiculous! Also a huge fan of their green and yellow curries as well. Super flavorful with the perfect amount of spice. Yessir! Their Prawn Tom Kha Koong (coconut milk soup with mushrooms, prawns, and Thai herbs) is tasty! Coconut lovers will really enjoy this soup as it is filled with warm coconut milk and mixed with savory Thai herbs and spices. Their Thai iced tea is super sweet, thick, and delicious! Love the perfect consistency of their sticky rice! They come individually wrapped in foil as a single serving. Perhaps my most favorite dish so far has got to be the prawns and scallops asparagus! It consists of sautéed prawns and scallops over marinated asparagus, bell peppers, onions, and carrots and tossed in a garlic-oyster sauce. If you are not a big fan of curries or coconut, I would still recommend Sukho Thai off of this dish alone. That garlic-oyster sauce is totally SLURP WORTHY! O M G, I was DREAMING about this dish after I ate it! Everything was sautéed and marinated so well, it was like artwork! Just beautiful... the taste, the sight... everything! I highly recommend anyone to add this dish to your list when you go. If I had to make one nitpick, I would just say that I wish that their portions were a tad but bigger... but that's just because I'm a cheap pig who loves her leftovers just as much as I do eating it the first time around! If you are splitting multiple dishes between two or more, the portion sizes are great! The service here is wonderful! Everyone from the host to our server was extremely kind and accommodating. Please note that the parking is extremely tight and super limited as it located in downtown Rockridge off of busy College Avenue. We are so happy that Sukho Thai has reopened after a lengthy remodeling. Apparently the previous owner has retired but the new owners have retained the chef who makes delicious food. The menu is clear about gluten free, vegetarian, vegan items and the wait person was well versed in the details of potential problem ingredients (our friends cannot eat shellfish which is hard to avoid in many Asian restaurants). We had the chicken Satay, fried tofu and fresh rolls for appetizer, then ChuChee salmon, Massaman beef, ginger vegetables with tofu among other dishes. Everything tasted great & portion size was generous. There were some issues of communication (seemed to be between the wait staff & kitchen regarding the difference between organic orders vs non organic) but they were quickly resolved. They've only been reopened for a few weeks so we can expect a few issues to be worked out. We will be back! read more

My first 5 star review of the year goes to Sukho Thai, well earned! Three words can summarize the food here, Healthy, Delicious, and Lovely! Had an impromptu dinner here last Sunday after flying into OAK. We arrived at the restaurant before 5 so we waited a few minutes till it opened. Walking in I noticed a painting one of my favorite temples when I visited Bangkok, Wat Arun! So majestic and amazing :) I knew I would have a good experience after seeing that. We ordered small bowl of vegetable soup, looked as if the veggies were just picked. It was tasty, little spicy, and was plenty for us to both share. For dinner we shared the Basil Eggplant and Green Curry, with sides of brown and white rice my fav was the basil, the smell, texture, taste. Slowly cooked, moist, rich. Loved it. Also the green curry was fabulous, we cleaned all plates! Desert we had the Mango sticky rice, beautiful, sweet, tasty. Great experience overall, reasonable pricing, I'll be back! read more

Wow... I can't believe that Sukho has been here for two years already. I think I owe an update. The three stars I initially gave them were conservative and based on that single, initial, and narrowly focused experience as they were still finding their feet. In these past two years, I've enjoyed many a meal there, and am increasingly impressed each time. They still treat me like royalty each time I come in, and I've also gotten to know the owner a bit over time... and it is without exaggeration that I can say she is one of the sweetest and most generous restaurateurs I have ever met. I also appreciate her dedication to this restaurant; she's put her heart and soul into this business, and continues to endeavor to bring us fresh and delicious food, and strives to make a good portion of that organically sourced. I'll echo the statements that other reviewers have made about the servers knowing what "vegan" means. it's not just the servers, though... it's in the actual ordering system ("vegan" can be applied to most dishes), and obviously, the cooks know what it means too. The food, service, ambience etc were fine. The shock came when I received my bill. It had ADDED AN 18% TIP -- even though we had asked for separate checks, so I was a "party of one". Highly unusual. It was clearly marked "Gratuity Included", so I'm not really complaining about that. BUT THEN IT ASKED FOR A TIP ON TOP OF THAT! The "merchant copy" of the credit card slip (the part that I had to sign and give back to them) ALSO HAD A TIP CALCULATOR table displayed at the bottom. This kind of "double-tipping" is ILLEGAL in many states. It irritated the heck out of me, even though I "caught it" in time to NOT add ANOTHER TIP before I signed. I'm usually a generous tipper so it was quite uncomfortable for me to leave the "Tip" space blank. There are lots of restaurants in the area that DON'T try to cheat their customers. Z. got the pineapple fried rice and I the Pad Kee Mao. There's something about garlic + chili + egg + sweet basil that makes this dish so tasty wherever you go, and Sukho Thai did not disappoint! For $13, I'd say this was a fantastic dinner deal given how much food there is. We'd love to come here again whenever we're feeling a quick + delicious Thai dinner. We ordered online and got a notice that the order was received, but did not hear back from them that the order was completed. We went by anyway ~30 minutes after the order was filled and it was ready. So aside for the email communication hiccup, everything else was seamless. We also got the chicken dumplings as an appetizer -- I do not recommend this dish. It's clear that this is a frozen entree and is not worth the $7. The wrapper was also not really fresh and the chicken filling not special. read more

We are staying nearby and found this wonderful Thai place while walking around, but had to order to go because of time constraints. I was really impressed by the ambience of the interior, and the degree of comfort in the waiting area. We ordered the pad Thai chicken, and the yellow curry with pork. Both were flavored exceptionally well and complemented with the right amount of vegetables. Brown rice will cost you $2.50, but it's prepared perfectly: not too firm or soft. My only concern about this restaurant is the meat portion. Both dishes had a frugal amount of meats in them. Besides this, the restaurant is solid for good, standard Thai food. read more

This is a covid19 review of Sukho Thai - I have done take out from Sukho Thai - went there in person and ordered it from them directly. I don't like to pay for services as they charge too much for delivery. The food here is delicious and they have a really safe set up for the pandemic. Love this place and have eaten here before the pandemic and will continue after this is over. But I love to hit this place up for take out and enjoy it at home. Average at best. Although there were few reviews we were excited to try this place but disappointed by the über slow service and forgettable meal. My ground pork soup with noodles was a nice treat on a cold day however the flavors were boring. Simply a tom yum base. Hubs had the pad Thai, which again was good though not great. The sauce was heavy. Saving grace!! When the server noticed I didn't finish she immediately offered to take half off, which was great. Another server came out to ask why I didn't care for the pork noodle soup (#17 I think) He seemed to genuinely appreciate my comments. Okay, this is a late review as I have been to Sukho Thai for three times now! Two dine-in and one take-out. The ultimate good Thai food for me the pad Kee mao! This place has the best noodles of pad kee mao as the noodle is fun to chew and bounce in my mouth and flavor is all so delicious! Even take-out pad kee mao was great! Love their sweet potato fries, eggplant curry, papaya salad and did I say pad kee mao! Wine was pretty good too but man love their pad kee mao!!! I can say this would be my favorite place even!!! This is a solid 4, but it could very well have been a 5. We had a big crowd, and they took good care of us. Everyone enjoyed their food, as did I. I ordered the Beef Massamon curry, which is their speciality. The Thai beef stew had an amazing broth, and the beef was tender and delicious. Unfortunately, the reason for not a 5 is the carrots and potatoes in my massamon stew were severely undercooked. One potato was near raw. Sad, because the broth and beef were amazing. My fiancee enjoyed her beef larb salad, my aunt her pad thai, and my cousin her curry. This place has numerous gluten free and vegetarian options for your friends with special fietary requests, so everyone will be happy. If anyone's looking for a shelter in place take out place, this is it! They were really fast in preparing the food, and it all tasted great (i ordered chicken fried rice, yellow curry, and tofu pad thai). They also give large portions, which is always a plus! Heads up, the pad thai is unique in that it has a stronger flavor than typical pad thais. Im not sure if it's stronger in fish oil or the tamarind, but I still enjoyed it. read more

Sukho Thai is a convenient spot for take out on College Ave near Rockridge BART. It's pretty easy to find a (quasi-legal) parking spot there and dash in for your food. The food itself is decent, but nothing to go into hyperdrive about. I had the veggie spring rolls and green curry -- pretty standard fare and served well by Sukho Thai. Prep time (10 mins) and price ($$) were both better than expected. I will definitely order again, but not going to make it a weekly event I don't think. read more

This restaurant is our local favorite take out during covid. Last night we "took our neighbors out to dinner" meaning we ordered two different orders, picked it up, delivered to their house and visited over zoom while enjoying their delicious food. I'm a sucker for eggplant and theirs is the best. They really do adjust their spices as per our requests. And we trust that their food prep and handling is up to covid requirements. read more

I came here with some friends and thoroughly enjoyed the food. For appetizers, we ordered: roti with bread and the chicken satay skewers with peanut sauce. Both were excellent. For entrees, we went family style and shared everything. We ordered: green curry with shrimp, pineapple fried rice, and pad see ewe with beef. My first time patronizing this restaurant. I had the or-prik phong wild fish and added prawns. The meal barely had protein and overcooked green beans with less then savory curry sauce was nasty. The Thai Tea was okay and the prawn rolls was the only thing decent. My server Pazzy was cold, rushing me and I felt she was slightly mean towards me. She made a comment "you left lots of vegetables" with a snarky tone and I gave a slight smile. One of the employees at Sukho called to confirm my order and to ask about our fried vs. soft tofu preferences. Tom kha isn't really my deal, but my gf said it was better than her chicken pad see ew. I'd believe it, because my soft tofu pad see ew was pretty bland and dry. I also wish I'd been given more carrots and broccoli. I took the Bart into the city to meet the fiancé for dinner. Always an experience. Anyways we are new to the area and didn't realize how busy some of the restaurants get. So after visiting two Japanese places that were completely booked, we gave up and took the train back to Rockridge. We ended up here as it was rated highly and close to the station. We ordered three things: fried tofu appetizer, papaya salad for me, and their house special dish whose name escapes me. It's right front and center on their menu with a spicy warning to boot! The fried tofu was meh. My impression was that it wasn't fresh. The costing was really thick and the tofu was really flat and mushy. It was served with the sweet spicy chili sauce which saved the dish. The papaya salad was good. I really enjoyed this dish. Though I've had better, it was good and I'd order it again. Their special dish (I'll post the name later) was pretty awesome. I've been hoping I'd find a place in the Bay Area where they don't water down the sauces or broth and here it is. The sauce was spicy but not overpowering. The taste was really fantastic. We got the version with fish. Dish was tasty too. Best part?
