During our lunch break at work we wanted Thai food so tried Lemongrass for the first time. I was impressed. They have a large menu of option including a ton of lunch specials. I saw they had pineapple rice and I previously only had pineapple rice in Hawaii and it was fabulous. I asked the waitress if it was really good here too and she said absolutely and she was right. This is one of my book club go-tos, and I really enjoy eating here. Service is efficient, friendly and patient, especially when we are over eight people. We love it because it is very quiet and sedate. It's easy to hear everyone speak and conversation flows because it isn't noisy. Food portions are perfect with some extra to take home and always well prepared. Although, prices are bit high. They are based, for the entrees at least, on the protein of choice, such as chicken or beef. They do not serve alcohol, but you can bring your own. This can be an issue for people, but it is a great way to keep the bill down and share preferred beverages. They do uncork, and set up the table with appropriate drink ware. The food can be slow at times, but as mentioned before, we tend to be a bigger group. They do, though, tend to bring out in a staggered way, which leads to some eating before others. Despite it all, this place is a keeper and I definitely recommend it, as a good Thai spot. read more

Okay, let's talk about Lemongrass Thai because... wow. First off, the servers? Humble, sweet, attentive--like they've collectively agreed to treat every customer as their favorite. The place is spotless and so inviting I briefly considered moving in. Now... the duck. Listen. That duck had NO business being that good. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, like it went to culinary heaven and came back with secrets. It's honestly the best duck I've ever tasted. I took one bite and immediately questioned every life decision that led me to not meet this duck sooner. We tried other dishes too--they were great, don't get me wrong--but that duck is the Beyoncé of the menu. Everyone else is just backup dancers. And yes... I drove 45 minutes to get there. Was it worth it? Absolutely. I'd drive 45 more. I'd drive to Narnia for that duck. If you go, do yourself a favor: order the duck and thank me later. read more

Hidden gem! We've come here for weekend dinners and it's never crowded--no idea why, because the food is amazing. The roasted duck is the best I've had, Thai or Chinese. Crispy, tender, and consistently excellent every time. The tom kha soup with chicken is rich and fragrant, with a bright lemongrass kick. We found this quaint little spot and decided to stop in as we were familiar with several in the area, but they were on the far side of town. I loved the Panang Curry, it tasted so fresh and you could taste the creamy coconut. I also got to the pad Thai and it was good, but a little on the sweater side. The staff was so friendly here! Condensed version: We tried it for the first time on Tuesday and came back 47 hours later for more. Alright, y'all. Story time! As parents with an infant, we elect to do take out versus ruining everyone else's night with a teething baby, so we have not had the opportunity to dine in. Despite that, the place was very cozy and clean. The staff was amazingly attentive and full of hospitality that far exceeded expectations. I'll dive into that more later. Being Asian American and loving Thai food, I already knew what I wanted and had expectations on what I received. My handsome man, however, is an Italian American who cannot take the heat. The first time I got him to try Thai food, he fell in love with Crispy Duck, so we have been looking for a spot close to home that offered it. Y'all.. not only are there several chef specials with duck (He's tried the Hit & Run, Drunken Noodles with Duck, and the Queen of Duck with Thai Basil Sauce), but it's an option to be the protein with ANY dish on their menu!!! Keep in mind: if you order Crispy Duck, they quote you 20 minutes for takeout. Being appetizer lovers, we elected to bring home the appetizer sampler. I also couldn't be trusted to walk into a Thai restaurant and not order their fresh rolls (aka summer rolls). I will totally vouch for the cream cheese crab rolls, but if you're a savory person (like me), perhaps ask to get peanut sauce to replace one of the two sweet n sour sauces. Trust me- it definitely works together, especially when doctored with some sriracha. My man had all of the Daffys & Donalds on the menu, but I went straight for the good flavors and the HEAT! Nothing is better for preventing a cold than that delicious, tasty burn of a Thai hot dish. ATTENTION Thai food loving enthusiasts: When you order Thai hot here, it is traditional, native Thailand hot. It is NOT the over-exaggerated, burn your face off "Thai hot" that restaurants make to please Americans. Keep that in mind when you're ordering. I genuinely love delicious and spicy food, so I was a little surprised when it didn't have that sinus-clearing heat I'm used to getting with Thai hot dishes. Not mad, just surprised. As if all of the delicious food wasn't reason enough to return, the fact that the server quickly whipped up my Thai tea to drink while I waited for the food, was awesome. Then, she took it a step further. When my food was ready, she insisted on bringing the bags out to my car so that I could get the baby into the car seat. The hospitality is vital for me when it comes to the decision to revisit a place and Lemongrass deserves an A+ for that effort alone. Bonus credit goes to the delicious food and my absolute favorite summer rolls in SA! Presentation for each dish was immaculate, even in the to go boxes. I wish I had sufficient proof, but we dug into our piping hot food before we could even make it to our dining room table. I consistently offer the Lemongrass Vermicelli. I add pork to mine. It was delicious. The second time I had to ask for more sauce as it was a little dry. But they gladly provided it to me. I'd seen this little place nestled Inside the Park Oaks Center - North Central area of San Antonio for a while now; I've been coming down here often over the past year due to needing to take some tests for work in the same plaza. Today we stopped by to check them out Greetings as soon as I walked in from the very chilly cold and BRRRRRRR!!! It's cold inside too but Wait! They have a cute little "fireplace" hooked up right beside the front hostess' counter putting out quite a bit of ambient heat!!! I'm wondering tho if the buildings heat has gone out in here? Or if they just have it turned WAY down to save on the electricity bill!!! lol I sit down while waiting for the husband and enjoy their current special - crispy chicken wings with sticky rice and a Sauce that OH MAN!!! It's a cross between sriracha and sweet and sour, and... DELICIOUS!!! This is something NEW for even ME!!! I HAFTA take some home!!! Next I order an entree called Num Prik Pao Sauce with Beef. A yummy mix of Sautéed bell pepper, onions, scallions, mushrooms, carrots, celery, and baby corn in num prik pao sauce topped with roasted cashew nuts. The sauce is a brown sauce with a nice little kick; their peppers are dried and ground; something else new for me to experience that lends a slight thickening agent to the sauce. It's spicy, with crisp tender veggies served with white rice (you can also get it with fried or brown rice too!) nice rich flavor. Beef is VERY tender! Something else also love that they serve small purple orchids alongside most of their dishes (which are edible!) and I did partake! Very fresh and super beautiful too!! Fresh orchids are a nice touch with every dish, but not necessary as the taste of the food speaks volumes. We came here to try it out as our regular spot is closed on Tuesdays. We were pleasantly surprised. We had fried egg rolls, Panang curry, and Thai basil with chicken. All dishes were tasty - freshly made and delicious. It's been tough trying to find good tasting Asian food here in San Antonio. As someone who grew up in Hawaii and heavily influenced by Asian culture and cuisine, I'd say I recommend this restaurant if you're interested in Thai food. read more

I haven't been here in years, and today, I realized it's been too long. While the prices are a little higher, the amount of food you get is a great value. I came with a party of 7, and the waitress took care of us like a champ. The food also came out extremely fast. It's almost like the kitchen was listening for our orders. We all ordered different dishes so we could taste each other's food and every dish was delicious. The restaurant is comfortable with ample space and brightly decorated. They have a steady stream of takeout and dine in orders. We had dumplings, spring rolls, combo plates, Wonton soups, seafood salad, panang and green curries, Lemongrass special rice, and drunken noodles with duck. Totally recommend this place! Great food and great service. We started with three appetizers: chicken satay, gyoza, and hot and sour soup. All were delicious! We had the lunch specials and all were delicious and served quickly. The Thai Garlic chicken was so good, I tried it with steamed rice. My family had the Pad Woonsen with chicken and the Pad See Ew Noodles with chicken. They included a salad with a ginger dressing that was so refreshing. My first time at this establishment. The food was disappointing. I ordered the Seafood Tornado and the scallops and shrimps were undercooked and the plate was swimming with sauce, so you can't really enjoy the flavor of the seafood like the fried fish, scallops, shrimps, and muscle. All you can taste is the overpowering sweet and sour sauce, which gave me a stomach ache. The fried rice was also on the 'crispy' side (meaning burnt). I've traveled to Thailand several times and have eaten at other Thai restaurants in different parts of the East Coast, the West coast and somewhere in between, this is not Thai food. It tasted more like a glorified Chinese food. Therefore, I DO NOT recommend this place. I'm giving them a 2 star because the server was nice and polite. read more

This is one of our favorite local Thai haunts. There are so many regulars when we go on a Saturday night. Joe is our usual waiter and he's such a character. One of the best things about Lemongrass is you can bring your own wine and they don't charge a corkage fee! We have tried many dishes but I keep going back for the red curry and the Kong Op Woo Sen. The latter dish is not like anything I have had before. Served in a clay pot, there are 4 huge shrimp with glass noodles, vegetables, fresh ginger, mushrooms, and a savory broth. Went for lunch on recommendation by a coworker. Waited over 45mins for our dishes. No one checked in on us, to let us know they're running behind, or if it'll be a few minutes more for our food. Server checked on everyone else beside us. After our food arrived, we had to check out immediately cause we were already late back to work. I was already upset we waited so long and didn't have lunch, the server checked my receipt to see if I left a tip, which I didn't cause of the poor service we received. Then proceed to say, "you're leaving a cash tip, right?" I won't be coming back. Not because of the food or wait but the server. No tip should be obligated or demanded. And I always leave a 25% or more tip, but on service not food. read more

There were 5 different ones to try. I definitely recommend this appetizer. If you're a fan of glass noodles these are a must try. The quality of the food was on point. I went to have lunch with my friends on Thursday and by Sunday I realized I was missing my wallet after a long review of my previous steps I realized I had left it at this restaurant. So far, this is my favorite Thai restaurant in the San Antonio area! Really fresh, quality ingredients and so much flavor! All of the curries are excellent, especially the yellow, which is loaded with perfectly cooked, colorful veggies and crispy roasted cashews. The green curry is also a favorite, with tender pieces of Japanese eggplant and bamboo, plus other veggies. The red curry is VERY spicy, even when ordered at a 1-2 spice level. The proteins are all perfect trimmed of any gristle or fat, and the fried tofu really soaks up the sauce! Yum. My only grip is the use of styrofoam contains in most of the entrees and appetizers, but that seems common here in TX?? Other favorites: If you love Thai iced tea, get it! Portion is huge - probably 24 oz? And their cucumber salad, albeit a small thing that you either like or don't, is really great.
