I just finished leaving Fashion Valley location. Thought I would stop and grab a meal to take away for home dinner. When I got home I was extremely disappointe. I had ordered the number 7 with extra rice. The rice was inedible. The cook filled the tray with sauce. The rice was 97% soaked in sauce. Half was a soup like consistency. They should ask if you even want sauce but to literally pour so much that the rice is swimming in it is wrong. I'm now making some rice for my dinner. I even left a fair tip for my overall $26 order. Of Note; when I was waiting, I asked if my food was being prepared since the cook was intently watching his phone and not the grill. He said 5 minutes to cook all which it was. when he said it was ready he just flippantly said it but there were two orders presented beside eachother . I asked which was mine and didn't get an appropriate response. I just got a look from several employees and a verbal it's there Though the female employee who had arrived was obv trying to make sense of my confusion. lazy inattentive behavior by employees. When Sarku shut down, I was heartbroken. I'd loved it for years, dating back to when I lived in Seattle and went to the locations up there. Thankfully, it reopened under a new name but same concept. This is one of my go to places for getting a decent amount of food for what you pay for! I never finish the food in one sitting because of the amount given. I always get the chicken teriyaki plate which comes with a generous side of vegetables and I usually upgrade to have plain chow mein instead of rice. The chicken is always perfectly cooked and tender. It's so simple, but so delicious! The service is pleasant and fast. The longest I've waited for my food is a little over 15 minutes when it's busy. It's also nice you can see the food being cooked on the grill and receive the food freshly made. It's located in a well-kept food court with plenty of seating. There was a teriyaki place at the mall pre-Covid that served up a huge mound of food. Sadly they've closed. Since the world reopened after/ during Covid I'd been craving that same chicken teriyaki. On a recent stroll through the food court, I noticed a new player in town. Suki Hana has come thru and opened serving up similar teriyaki dishes. Prices are similar to the previous operation, maybe slightly higher prices. That's somewhat expected due to the higher costs of operation these days. Still a good deal for the mall. I ordered the teriyaki chicken and shrimp combo. Both were cooked to perfection. Shrimp were plump and not over cooked while the chicken was tender and juicy. Formerly Sarku Japan is Suki Hana now. Still, selection #1 is chicken teriyaki with white rice and veggies for $11.99 (you can ask for water for free in a styrofoam cup). The portion is humongous, a lot of chicken (which is the only good thing),but even more rice (nothing special) and little of veggies (which is meh). Service is ok, pay first, get a number to be called on and a card for future references. I will be looking for another option on a Westfield food court next time, if I'm in La Jolla. read more

FOOD POISONING, BEWARE! My wife and I needed a quick bite while at UTC Mall and opted for this place bc it had the shortest line, and now I know why. The cashier girl wasn't the friendliest, but that's fine. Once we got our food and took one bite we both knew we'd made a terrible decision. The chicken honestly has the consistency of a rubber tire. It's disgusting. But we were starving and ate a few bites of the plate we'd split between the two of us, and that was that. Little did we know Suki Hana was not done with us. I woke up in the middle of the night with feverish chills, and endless diarrhea. It soon escalated to a full blown 102 degree fever where I couldn't move for 24 hours. My wife, who is 6 months pregnant mind you, couldn't keep anything down for the entire day after. She's had zero morning sickness her whole pregnancy, but Suki Hana stepped in to change that. This place is awful and should be condemned, they obviously couldn't care less about the quality of their food and the well being of their customers. If I can stop one person from eating here it's a small victory. Maybe now that I'm able to get out of bed from their poisonous food I'll go picket in front of their restaurant.
