A friend chose this place because we craved quality conversation over watching the World Cup today. Spain won. We were a party of 8 and received excellent service throughout. Quaint place with outdoor patio seating under an awning. Parking was a tad challenging during Sunday after church lunch rush but we all managed to get spots. Our food came out quickly. I shared chicken teriyaki with my friend. It came with miso soup which was really tasty. We both enjoyed the teriyaki chicken and salad. It was a generous portion so plenty for two women. My friend really liked the teriyaki sauce but I found it to be a little lacking in umami depth and brightness. Everyone shared that they enjoyed what they ordered ~ Sesame Chicken (crispy fried pieces with a sweet and tangy sauce), Modern Sashimi Salad (fresh and flavorful), Yaki Soba with chicken (good combination of noodles, chicken and vegetables), Gyoza were delicious and Tempura California roll was a hit. Gluten Free Soy Sauce Available Usually at sushi establishments, the sashimi would probably be the first thing that came out. Unfortunately that was not the case for me and I ended up waiting over an hour for a plate of 6 pieces of fish, and steamed rice on the weekend. We were a large party, but it was by no means busy. I was disappointed by the service in general, having to ask for things multiple times before receiving them. The fish quality itself wasn't great either. We finally stopped by after having numerous people recommend us this location. Service was amazing, the young lady was really attentive. It was just us and another party during lunch hour. Our food came out relatively fast. We were impressed by the size of the sushi rolls, they are definitely meant to be shared. Our favorites were the deep fried ones, they had such a great crunchy consistency that paired perfectly with the creaminess of the filling. We ordered a ramen, but we were disappointed when we realized it was just top ramen nothing extra was added to make it special. We sent it back, didn't make a big deal about it nor did we request for it to be taken off our check. Once we paid and looked at our check on our way out we realized the young girl took it off our bill. This was a gesture that was appreciated and speaks highly of their customer service. First time trying this place. Door Dashed a couple rolls: Bad Boy Roll and Vegas Roll. Sushi pieces were thick. The Vegas Roll was delicious and fulfilling. Bad Boy roll was also good, liked how the lemon slices were thin so it was edible. Docking a few stars, it would have been nice to have chopsticks and soy sauce packets with my order. My boyfriend and I went here today after our spa day and it was not the best decision. He had been there before and said it wasn't too great but instead of searching for more places we went there anyway. Our servers were nice and responded quickly. We asked for bottled water and a cup of ice and they didn't bring a straw. Then we ordered our rolls. My bf ordered the tuna and yellowtail/scallion rolls and they were not put together well. The rice tasted funny and it was really sticky. I ordered sweet Hawaiian and pink rolls and they were massive and again rice didn't taste good and they were falling apart they were so big. The only thing on the table that tasted good was the cucumber salad. But that's an easy recipe. Definitely not coming back. I have ordered from here before and it was delicious, I ordered today around 11:30 when they opened and when my food was delivered i noticed the color of the fish was off, then i noticed the fish was hard like it was old, also they sprinkled salt and pepper on my roll which they did not do before. The sushi is very well priced here, in my eyes it's like solid sushi and is really good... paired with these sake bombs. We've learned our lesson over the past few visits, and limit what we order if the dynamite roll is what we're craving.
