Cheese Sticks
Lunden D.

I ordered to go. I ordered the cheese sticks, double meat burger with bacon and fries. The bun of the burger was slightly stale & the fries were as well. I usually would have informed the cook. However, I was coming during closing and I just looked at my order to make sure everything was right, so I was already at my destination when I started tasting the food. However the burger meat & cheese sticks were decent, nothing that produced a wow factor, just pretty standard in terms of being bland. I was slightly disappointed & oh I forgot they did not include my sprite. I will probably give them another try though.

Gave this burger joint a shot and stopped by this place for its high reviews. The Place was small with outdated furniture. Ordered the old fashion 1/2 pound burger basket. Staff was nice and friendly. The buns was soft and fresh. The burger Patty itself is mediocre and tasted like an oversized high school cafeteria burger. Overall I give it a 6 out of 10. Worth trying but probably won't be back.

Hole in the wall that gets good reviews so I had to try it. I was slightly disappointed. The burger is not that great in my opinion. The fries are not that great in my opinion. It really is a hole in the wall and you could miss it as the doors are covered with newspaper. A bunch of people visit it so maybe I'm missing something but I honestly did not understand the appeal.

Was in the mood for some cheap greasy food and this hit the spot. The Philly cheesesteak sandwich was my favorite and I also like the chili cheese hot dog. The food is not anything special but super enjoyable. They've got burgers and other snack foods too. The owner was very nice. It's just a small little restaurant. Wish I knew about it sooner.

Burger and Onion Rings
Tudon M.

The burger was solid. The 2.5 onion rings were tasty but 2.5 onion rings. They have to do better. Also worth noting, the cashier taking the order was very slow. Don't stop here if you're in a hurry.

Had to come try a cheeseburger at sukos and they did not disappoint at all . What a juicy and flavorful burger. The fries were delicious too. The place was clean and the staff was very friendly. Can't wait to go again.

Shrimp fried rice

Suko's is a no-frills burger joint in the Second Ward / East End, and while I don't eat burgers or hot dogs anymore, their fried rice is what I'm there for. Aside from burgers, hot dogs, and fried rice, you'll find fried fish and shrimp baskets, chicken tenders, egg rolls, corn dogs, chili dogs, tater tots, onion rings --- imagine, all of your fried favorites, but from a local biz and not a fast food chain.

This hole in the wall hamburger place is pretty good. The hamburgers are fresh and savory and the meat patty was average sized. The fresh fries are on the bland side and could use some seasoning. As soon as I placed my order, they started cooking and preparing my order. However, the employee did not provide us with napkins on our to go order. I missed the previous owners, but this place is doing just fine. They also can do more improvements on the building and cleanliness.

Unpretentious local hole in the wall serving one of the best burgers I've had in Houston. Easy to drive by, the signage barely noticeable and I may have missed it but for GPS. Prices are fantastic, I am honestly shocked they were not busier. Took my two youngest and both loved their food. The decor and ambience are minimal but you're not here for that, you are here for the food.

Saturday its also burger day!

No frills, and old school place to eat a classia burger or chinese fried rice. The burger joint has bees a staple for the neighborhood as long as I can remember. Traditional and classic as burgers can get. I always chose this place over chain placea to support our local neighborhood.

Burgers, fried rice, egg rolls, wings are good here. Price is right and the food is delicious. Owned but a Korean couple super cute and awesome

The lines are diagonal, but you actually have to park your car straight Um, the exterior does not have a sign so you may get a little confused, because it's on the corner of Scott and McGregor but there's no sign indicating what the restaurant's called, but anywho. The interior of the place is surprising it's really cute, cozy esthetic, and has a large patio, that I didn't try because it's too hot. You order your food at the bar, my friend, and I both got a moscato. And no, thanks, it is box wine, and it was flat, and it wasn't good. My other friend ordered An old-fashioned and she said, it tasted pretty good. I ordered the catfish and grits, 10 out of 10. The catfish was fried perfectly. The grits were nice and creamy I. Also got a side of red beans and rice and they were fire. Really, really good. My friend additionally got the grits with shrimp. She said it was good. Now. Would I return back to this place? Probably not. Would I order pickup? Absolutely because the the one big issue, as someone else stated, the food is good, if you can get it, it took an hour for our food to come out. We had finished our drinks and were parched. They don't offer you water because again, you have to order at the counter and the food took an hour to come out and to the point some people that ordered after us got their food before us. I think there is literally only one person working in the kitchen. My recommendation is, if you want to check this place out, come partially full and with patience or call in your order for pickup. So yes, the food is good but I will not be dining in again

When we arrived, the host let us choose where we wanted to sit. I originally spotted a cozy booth by the window, but since we were asked if we'd like to sit where we could watch the TV during the Cup match, we opted for one of the high-top tables instead. Unfortunately, that turned out to be a mistake because there isn't any lighting at the high tables. We could barely see our food. Adding pendant or drop-down lighting above those tables would make a huge difference. If you plan to visit, I'd recommend requesting a regular table or booth for better lighting. The menu is definitely unique, though I found it somewhat limited compared to other seafood restaurants. To start, I ordered the roasted oysters while my friend had a dozen raw oysters with all the traditional fixings. The roasted oysters were delicious, but there was so much topping that it almost took the shine away from the oysters themselves. Next time, I'd ask for lighter toppings and no scallions. For my entrée, I had the Halfshell Grilled Redfish. The fish itself was cooked beautifully--moist, flaky, and perfectly prepared. The only downside was the chermoula, which leaned far too heavily on the citrus. The lemon flavor completely overpowered the fish. As my side, I ordered the Chicken and Andouille Sausage Gumbo. Unfortunately, it had a distinct burnt taste, which made it seem like the roux had been overcooked. A good gumbo should have a deep, rich flavor, but this one was overshadowed by that burnt note. My friend ordered the Jerk Fish Collars, and we both agreed they would have been much better if the fish had been marinated to allow the jerk seasoning to really penetrate. I also ordered a Lemon Drop Martini, and I have to admit I was surprised when it arrived in such a tiny martini glass, especially considering the price. Overall, the quality of the seafood is evident, and the restaurant has a great atmosphere. I think a few adjustments to the lighting, better balance in some of the flavors, and more attention to details like the gumbo and cocktail portions would elevate the experience even further. I'd definitely return to try more of the menu and hope for a more polished experience next time.

When I got home, however, discovered that it was over egg noodles this time. No worries though. We come for the cream sauce and the large potion sizes, not the carb that's included, right?! Also, they offer a new tea made in house with Pineapple and Peach. To die for. It is sweet but not aggressively so. The inside has about 3 booths and counter seating now. The location is on the end cap of a strip where Level One Fitness is, across the street from Young Women's College Preparatory Academy. The service is always stellar and personable. The owner is a couple. The wife usually takes the orders but on this day, there was a vendor assisting with the new cashless payment and menu system. There isn't a lot of parking so you'll have to park around the corner, on the street, in front of the church across the street. If you're lucky, you might be able to snag one of the few spots right in front of the door but that'll depend on if there is a group fitness class going on at the gym. So extremely happy that they now have a store front and have expanded beyond the back counter in the gas station. Will return soon for some more Pineapple/Peach tea!!!!

Something simple that should be an easy win. Unfortunately, everything leaned the same direction: either it was heavy, over-sauced, or overly garlicky. It tasted more like dressed-up frozen food than something thoughtfully prepared. And listen...I don't mind indulgent. But there still has to be balance and fresh food. Fresh like it was raw and delivered today, not fresh like fried in the last 15 mins. When everything is coated, covered, and competing, nothing actually stands out. The drinks didn't help either. They leaned hard on alcohol without much flavor behind them--more "this will get you there" than "this tastes good." Nothing was terrible. But nothing made me want another bite, either. And with seafood, that's kind of the whole point. The atmosphere is friendly, great music, and the service was very attentive. Even the presentation wasn't bad. It just wasn't enough. But at some point, you stop asking what's missing and just accept that it's not landing. I was still hungry so I went next door hoping for a better experience. I want to be clear: It's not bad. Cochinita & Co caught my attention because of owner and chef Victoria Elizondo who was a James Beard semifinalist, Culture Map chef of the year and her restaurant was ranked as one of the top 100 in Houston. The restaurant is located near EaDo and is easy to find. It's in a small strip of businesses so parking can be tight when it's busy. We came with about 30 minutes left for breakfast before they rolled out their lunch menu. There was a few tables of people enjoying their breakfast, but the place got really busy about an hour into lunch. Customer service was great. I needed help making some ordering decisions and the staff steered me in the right direction. I specifically came for breakfast. I started off with an iced Horchata Latte. This drink was excellent. You got all the flavors of a traditional horchata with the cinnamon while still having the coffee flavor present. It was a very well balanced drink. For my entree I went with their popular chilaquiles. They said this is their number one seller for breakfast and I could totally see why. I went with the red chile salsa for the spicy version, but you can also get it with a salsa verde. It comes with black beans, fried egg (you can request a different cook if you desire), crema, queso fresco and green onions. You can add a protein for an additional charge. I added chorizo to mine. Chilaquiles is not something I ever order but I had to try it here. I am so glad I went out of my comfort zone because this dish was amazing. Now I've had bites here and there of chilaquiles but was never blown away, hence me not ordering it. The chips were coated throughout and kept it's crunch through the whole meal. All the components of the dish worked in perfect harmony. I liked mine with the chorizo addition. The egg was nice and runny and I would consider adding another egg next time. It was a generous portion and a heavy meal, but I powered through the whole thing because it was so good. They had a nice display of baked goods and I could not pass up the pretty cinnamon roll. I got the last one and it looked very promising. It ended up being just ok. They served it room temp so it ate very dry. It would have been good if it was heated up and gooey. We ended up wasting most of it. Overall, this visit was long overdue but worth the wait. I'm still thinking about the chilaquiles a week later. I will most definitely be back to check out more of their menu.
