PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT LIVE HERE. This place is incredibly disorganized and make the application process very inconvenient. I applied to a one bedroom here over a month ago and I had to cancel the application after paying a $50 application fee along with a $100 security deposit. They informed me that the reimbursement process for the security deposit had to be via check in the mail. A process that usually takes up to two weeks. That was over one month ago and I still haven't received my money back from my security deposit. If you are smart you will stay away from this place. Terrible service. read more

I lived in this community for 4 years, and for the price, I think you can't beat the location and the apartment in the surroundings. I worked in DC, near union station and used to commute by car. The highways is right across the street. The best part starts in the summer when they open the swimming pool, and the hot tub. I miss that even when I am typing that. Parking is garaged, if you get something in the leasing building but not sure how will that work in the free standing ones. I think they have street parking for those apartments. I loved the gym at this complex and I think I haven't seen a gym like this at any other complex yet. Tommy the property manager is the coolest property manager and really friendly. Saib, and above all Keenan(concierge). All these people are there to take care of the sullivan family. I miss those guys. The only part that I missed was the patio but some units have the open door thingy but doesn't satisfy the feel of the patio. The apartments are very spacious, and the appliances are top notch. The maintenance folks are really friend too. If you are looking for a place to stay, you should definitely stay in Sullivan Place. I promise you will not get disappointed. At first, I would get lost because it felt like a maze, but then this was my home. Where I would come back to. I also miss the sat night driving to DC in the HOV lane. man if i ever move back, I am coming back to this community. read more

PROS: Very nice amenities, convenient to DC, free shuttle, occasional resident social gathering, the pool and hot tub, movie theatre, Parking Garage, Panera Bread and Shell Gas station literally in the front of the building. Concierge is open until 12am giving residents access to obtaining packages or parking passes for guests. Some apartment homes come with televisions, nice walk-in closets and bathrooms, MOST of the staff seems friendly, Overall, the appearance is very appealing. CONS: The walls and floors are paper thin, about 6am every morning there's an obnoxious sounding garbage truck that comes to empty the garbage with the garbage truck and it's so loud, it LITERALY sounds like he's trying to wake up everyone in the community since he has to be up so early (Maybe it's just me) but it scares my babies EVERYTIME. Most of the staff seems to be caring individuals, however there's one arrogant leasing consultant who's mannerism displays that he has little to no time for residents. The whole winter, I was excited about the opportunity to get in the hot tub, and a couple of weeks after memorial day (up until today) it's still unavailable, DO NOT park outside during the winter because you WILL slip and fall coming into the building. Occasionally we would park outside in the front due to easy access to the building with children at night, however, it wasn't that easy because there was no one to put salt down nor clear out the snow (not the easiest task when you're bringing in a 1 and 2 yr. old). The movie theatre is a very appealing area but the projector always displays a "replace lamp" sign in the middle of the screen making it hard to see the whole screen, and 9 times out of 10, someone has already reserved the theatre up until 11pm and then it's closed until the next day (the cycle repeats). This place is NOT conducive for children, I've spotted children playing in the front parking lot, throwing and kicking balls which is unsafe for two reasons, a child could run out onto the highway, and a ball could easily hit a parked car, The floors have lots of weak spots inside and outside the apartment, some of the hallways have the smell of pet urine, the garbage chutes are not convenient to some residents, the maintenance comes into apartment homes without shoe covers (gross!) I was so excited to move in and now I can't wait until the day I move out. This is not a place for a family. read more

The people of this place are very rude. Very unprofessional. They do not know how to talk to the residents. I can not wait for my lease to be up and get out of this place. I will say the guy that sits in the front, named Brian, who tries to come off as a smart person is the most rudest of them all. I don't understand how you can work in a place like this and treat the residents with such disrespect. Overall, I would not recommend this place to anyone. If you want to be disrespected with every single contact with these people, then go ahead and sign that lease, because that is all you will get. I am currently living here. The fire fighters broke my entrance door on 9/12/2014 for possible gas leak and it turned out mistake. The leasing office told me that it will take 2 weeks to fix it and it did not happen. After 2 weeks later, I came to the office and asked when it will fix because it has been more than 2 weeks. Finally they told me they just ordered my door. I got promise that it will fix soon, but it did not happen again. It is more than 5 weeks and going to 6 weeks now. I still did not hear anything from them. I think I did wait enough. I am very disappointed this apartment management team. I could not open my door well and sometimes it takes 20 minutes to open it and I already told them but they could not do anything at this time. It is not secure and dangerous. The wind and light come through the door and it looks terrible for almost 2 months. I could not even sleep this palce and almost live in my friend's place. I do not recommend this place at all. read more

I had a list of places to look. I came to Sullivan's Place second. I was so pleased with the floor plan, and amenities, and the leasing agent Aron King was so friendly and helpful, and the location was perfect, I just ended up signing a lease the same day. I was a little concerned, because I had read some bad reviews on Yelp. I've had no issues. Moving in and everything Aron was still incredibly helpful. I love the apartment. Everything is clean and new(place is only 8 years old.) Neighbors are quite and friendly. There are 700 residents, so I wouldn't be alarmed by a few whiny people who had bad days. read more

I lived here for 12 months and recently moved out The property manger who is unfriendly and very inexperienced when handling customer complaints and issues. Very misleading place. The apartment Very misleading and overpriced for a small tiny place. The parking lot Parking is always an issue. The past 12 months I have experienced few incidents including car vandalizing and stealing items from parked car in the parking lot.( very unsafe) The amenities The gym is Ok. Be aware that the response of the maintenance team is pretty weak. You have to call some 800 # call center and sometimes it can take DAYS until someone shows up. Sometimes you have to call more than once. Very annoying. For the money what I am paying for this place I should be getting a good customer service. Elevator: Ongoing an issue with elevator and the maintenance team do no perform a true maintenance work to fix this long going issue. Band-aid fix and a few days later email notification "Elevator is out of service "sent out by the management team. Honestly, I use the stairway cause I don't feel safe using the elevator. A month ago i noticed The elevator inspection date passed the due date... HellllooooooooooThere i Air condition /Heater issue: Another big issue with Air condition. Either the maintenance team does not know how to fix the mechanical issue or there is a major problem with the system. I was told by the maintenance team after turning the air condition on, the system takes approximately 2- 3 hours for the system to start cooling. This explanation is unheard and lame. I have to buy a portable air condition and also a portable heater to support the heat and air condition issues. I notified my issues to management team but they did nothing to resolve to help the situation. In July there was a thunderstorm caused the power outage on the entire property. I came home around 1pm from work and I could not get into the garage or to my apartment due to the power outage. I decided to get a nearby hotel which cost me ~ $125. The next day I went to the management office to discuss this matter and also if they can do anything for me with my hotel expense. I received a call from the property manager " Tom" and he explained to me that Sullivan will not compensate such expenses . When I asked Tom if there is a backup generator for the building in case of emergency he simply did not know and yet he is the property manager. Ouch! THE BAD: - Way Above average, premium rent for the area, - Dog poop everywhere from the parking lot and sometimes on the hallway. Many dog owners don't pick up after their pets, so be prepared to see multiple steaming piles of poop every morning. THE UGLY: The electric bill is ok but my water bill was over $70 per month for one bedroom. Once again the inexperienced manager formed me that there must be a leak in the system causing this high bill. Once again, a long investigation the maintenance team informed me that there was no leak found in the system. Wow! so what caused this mysterious high water usage bill? God only knows THE VERY UGLY: - Move-out inspection doesn't exist: I cleaned the entire apartment before my moving date and a few weeks later I received a phone call from the corporate office that I have to pay $250 for cleaning . I asked what is this cleaning fee for? but the person from the office told me it is standard cleaning during move out Frankly, it seems like the move out cleaning fee is Scam fee because regardless how clean your property is they still charge you. I would look around before coming. Walls are PAPER-THIN. I get to listen to the sounds of the neighbor above me who LITERALLY STOMPS and slams things on his floor (my ceiling) non-stop. It's hard to relax, sleep, do anything in my place because of it. It's VERY AGGRAVATING and makes me twitch with frustration having to put up with this crap. Then you get kids who run up and down the hallways (esp. late at night). If you tell the front office, they'll say they'll talk and deal with the other neighbor, yet NOTHING EVER HAPPENS. This was a place I was so excited to move into in the first place...now I want to spend more time at work and outside of the room because NOTHING IS EVER DONE to prevent the upstairs neighbor. I've been here for almost a year now and have enjoyed living here. The staff is wonderful and always very helpful. They are quick to respond, very friendly and extremely accommodating to the needs of the community members. They've made several upgrades to the already very nice amenities and for what you pay, you get a great amount of space. I have lived here for a year and I really like it. The leasing staff are very nice and accommodating. There are some issues but nothing out of the ordinary for apartment living. A few examples include pet mess that pet owners refuse to clean up (smh), trash/litter in the garage because people refuse to clean up after themselves (smh), trash compactor breaks occasionally and elevator issues occasionally. These issues are usually resolved fairly quickly and I think its more of a reflection on the residents rather than the apartment personnel. My maintenance requests were handled quickly and correctly. So no complaints there. The amenities are awesome - great gym, pool and movie room. The rental fee for the pub is quite expensive but that seems to be typical for the area. Parking can be a little troublesome but I have never not found a space so not much of a complaint there. They are planning to charge a $5 fee for all guest parking. I think that is absurd and I'm not pleased with that. Hopefully that won't last long. I will admit that the outside noise can be a problem. I live above the leasing office so facing the retail spaces and 395. The trash pickup is incredibly loud early in the morning, people cleaning out their cars at the gas station while playing their music loud at all hours of the day and night, and people hanging out by the fountain at night - - the noise can be a real inconvenience especially for light sleepers. But again, these are factors that personnel can't really resolve. I guess the windows and doors can be sound proofed. That would be great if possible. The last issue is the water and sewer costs. They seem much higher than I have ever paid and I really don't understand why. I asked them to look into and they did but found no issues. I'm still astonished at how high our monthly bills are. I do appreciate them looking into it though. Other than that, this is a great place to live. Great location, great amenities, great staff, great for families, couples and singles . I would highly recommend it to others. Oh one last thing - I do agree with some of the reviews concerning security. There were some car break-ins and vandalism so I think having more security would be a good idea. I will mention though that the break-ins are infrequent and mainly on high-end luxury vehicles. We did have a security guard for a while. I'm not sure if he's still around. But I think it's safe to say that management is on top of it. Hope this helps! read more

I am not a current resident at Sullivan place but i did go there yesterday to inquire about a two bedroom apartment and i was in shock with the treatment i received. I was on the Fairfax County website and saw that Sullivan Place offered Affordable Dwelling Units. I currently reside at The Ridgeleigh at Van Dorn where I rent an ADU and was looking for a bigger place for my growing family. When I arrived at Sullivan Place the leasing staff was very pleasant at first, offering refreshments and made my husband and myself feel very comfortable as we waited for the next available leasing consultant. Once one became available and we sat down with her and asked about the ADU's her whole demeanor changed. It was like all of the sudden she was not interested in helping because we weren't "good enough" for her time. She ended up getting someone else to help us and this person notified us there weren't any ADU's available,showed very little interest in showing us a unit, did not want to give us details or explain anything to us. When i finally requested to see a unit because I did not have my id on me, my husband was the only one allowed to go inside and see a unit. The "tour" that was given took all of maybe 5 minutes. While my husband was on the tour i walked up to the 1st leasing consultant to ask how much a regular unit's monthly rent is and she did not want to tell me. I had to ASK her to please look up so i can have an idea of the price. I have NEVER been so offended. I have NEVER been treated like i am "less" than someone else because i rent an ADU or that my money was not "good enough". It was to the point that the leasing consultant asked me why i was looking to move and tried to CONVINCE me to stay at the property i currently reside in. Whatever happened to equal housing opportunity?! I really hope the manager reads this and that some sort of action is taken. read more

First, I must say that the front office members here are really the best I have encountered in my years of renting apartments. I had some things I was taking into consideration while trying to find a spot that would work for me, and they were very helpful in this process. I met with a good few of the staff members over the last couple of days while arranging my move. They have all been exceedingly professional, respectful, and incredibly helpful. I think you can't go wrong renting here because the office is great, and the apartments are very nice and new. The entire complex is very quiet, and you do not get any noise from the hallway or from the neighbors above and below you. I mean, it is really, really quiet! The one bedroom has a nice floor plan. The bathroom is a good size, and the washer and dryer are in the bathroom in a sort of hallway. I can even fit my drying rack for sweaters etc. in the bathroom hallway with room to spare, which is nice, so it is not sitting in the living room. Overall, I highly recommend this complex, especially considering that it is easy to get where you need to be on the highway. I am not really hitting a lot of traffic. read more

I do not recommend living here. I have been here for almost 2 years and have continuously asked that the door to our building be fixed because it does not lock properly. I have never seen anyone even come out and look at the door. They promised to powerwash our deck and steam clean our carpets after we renewed our first least and nothing has happened. No one even followed up with us. You can hear everything through the walls from neighbors above and next to us. The reason we wanted to powerwash our deck was the neighbor's dog above our apartment was peeing on the deck and it just flowed down onto our deck. There is dog poop all over the grass of the property. The adjacent buildings do not get the same attention as the main building and therefore the leasing office doesn't pay much attention to those buildings either. They just want to sell you the apartment and then forget about you once they do. Definitely misleading and not a place I would recommend unless they step up their overall appearance and actually follow through on things they say will do. I have even contacted the main UDR property and asked someone to contact me. That was over 2 weeks ago and no contact has been made. I would not recommend any UDR property if this is the way they handle business. Very unprofessional. read more
