I brought my car in to fix a few issues, but all they did was give me a fairly expensive oil change. Over the next three weeks, they continued to string me along by saying that they were developing an estimate for the repairs. The estimate started at $3800, which I agreed to, but then a different person I spoke with said that they had "forgotten" to add a repair to the estimate, and that the real estimate was almost $8000. While it seemed outrageous that the price would essentially double over one thing they "forgot", I was desperate and they came highly reviewed, so I agreed and asked when I could bring my car in. Without any hesitation and without consulting anyone, the person I spoke with said that the almost $8000 estimate wasn't the ACTUAL estimate, and that they wanted to "look at the numbers again". To be honest, it felt like they were just jacking the price up to see how much I'd pay. I was nothing but pleasant and respectful over the phone, and they had given me my car back after the oil change, so this was not a situation where they were finding new things wrong -- they didn't have my car. This place does not seem honest or reliable at all. They didn't even attempt to fix the problems with my car when I brought it in. They gave multiple escalating quotes and didn't stick to any of them. They didn't call when they said they would, or at all.

After nearly a week before it was inspected, my mom--who was in contact with Scott throughout--was told the shifter cable was BROKEN and quoted $600 for the repair, plus about $200 for the new part, taxes, an oil change, and other related expenses, bringing the total estimate to around $800. At no point was debris mentioned. We got a second opinion at a garage on High Street in Danvers. They inspected the car the next day and said they performed a thorough assessment. They found nothing wrong with the shifter cable. Instead, they found a large walnut lodged against the cable, along with other debris, preventing it from shifting. After cleaning it out and completing the oil change, the car worked perfectly. Total cost: $50. AFTER this review was posted, Eric contacted us and said the shifter cable had come out of position and might eventually break--information that was NOT shared during the original diagnosis or almost week of communication my mom had with Scott. Being quoted close to $800 for a repair that ultimately wasn't necessary, and only receiving a fuller explanation AFTER speaking out publicly, raises serious concerns for us about the thoroughness and reliability of the initial assessment

I drove down there and saw an older man with white hair in the open inspection bay. I walked up, said hi and asked if they were doing inspections. He must have seen me drive in with the "R" sticker. He immediately started in on me saying he would not inspect the vehicle and I should go back to where it was initially inspected. I just asked why he wouldn't do the inspection and he just got louder and said "if I didn't repair it, I won't re inspect it." It was an OEM bumper for christ sakes, and it took me all of 2 hours to remove and replace. This was the first time I have had a vehicle rejected so I was not aware of the need to go back to the original inspection station. I would have thought that since these are State Inspections, the process would be uniform across all service stations. It looked to me like he was having a bad Monday and decided to give a bit of that attitude to me. I'll cross this station off my list. Not the way to treat a person or a potential customer.

There needs to be better communication between the wrench benders and the front desk, and parts need to move in a timely manner. If you don't have it, tell me and I'll go elsewhere. I wonder if because we were from out of state, on vacation, and they'd never see us again, we were easy marks. Worst part was the lack of communication. We were told nothing unless we asked, and the staff didn't communicate well with each other.
