I really enjoy stopping at this bakery when I'm passing through the pass on highway 2. The food is typically delicious (breakfast, lunch, dinner) and at a normal drive in type price. They also have a large selection of actual baked goods, donuts, cakes etc. Pictured is the lemon cheesecake which is sooo good. I had a bacon cheeseburger with avocado this time around and that was also good, but veggies were lacking. It comes with potato chips or you can pay more for fries. The couple downsides to this place: 1. It's always busy... however I came in today and no one was in line but my food came out 35 mins after I paid... and after other people who came after me. This is probably the 3rd time in a row I've had to wait a lonnnng time. 2. It doesn't seem like the cleanest place ever. The cups they give you for water are stained, I don't often see anyone washing their hands and the bathrooms are not somewhere you'd want to be. The good food and friendly (most of the time) service does allow one to look past this stuff sometimes. I always look forward to Sultan Bakery on my way to Stevens Pass....even if I don't have a good snowboarding day, I know the bakery will be worthwhile the trip! You have to get to the bakery early (at least before noon) to make sure the bakery goods are not sold out. They have all sort of breakfast dishes but I mostly come for their pastries, donuts and cakes. My favorites are apple fritter, carrot cake, donuts twist, oatmeal raisin cookie and fruit oat bar. Wow! My wife brought me to Sultan for a geodome camping trip, and we stumbled upon this bakery. We unashamedly ate here 3 times and also brought back baked goods to the place we were staying. The staff were so kind every time and made the experience even better. The massive burrito is good for a bakery and while it's not the best I have had I will get it again and again. The menu changes daily as well. When they run out of an item they pull the hand written sign. Such a nice method and clearly works. No need for fancy sinage or digital signs. Keep it up! read more

Very nice and fun visit to the bakery. This past autumn we arrived for lunch in the early afternoon on a Saturday and the staff gave us a very friendly and amicable greeting. As we dawdled a bit over the menu the staff encouraged us to take our time. We found out that the restaurant was out of a few items which really would have sold a couple dishes (cole slaw for the pulled-pork sandwich, stuffing for the turkey dinner). We found good options. My first choice of chili burger was mostly smooth sailing. The burger could have been served warmer; it lacked enough heat to melt the shredded cheese I opted for as an addition. Still very tasty. Decent diner coffee and lots of it! Of course we had to take with us a few wonderful treats from the pastry cases (like the cinnamon cup: an upside down cinnamon roll with a sort of well in the "bottom" which held a big dollop of frosting). read more

I am a fan! I came here two weekends in a row. The first time I stopped I only got dessert, the 2nd time though, we all ordered a meal, and it was delicious! Great spot when you are coming back from Stevens Pass to swing into for some good diner-ish food and great desserts! I tried: - orange cream cheesecake - oreo bar - avocado burger with crinkle cut fries - stuffing I ordered the avocado burger the 2nd time. OMG I did not realize it was going to come with two burger patties! It was delicious, but so much food! We also came weekend after Thanksgiving, so they had stuffing on the menu! UNFORTUNATELY THE BREAKFAST WAS AN UTTER DISAPPOINTMENT: we have asked for the German sausage plate which was including 2 links of sausage split in the middle,3 eggs (asked for the sunny side up), hash brown and couple of toast. The eggs was not fully "cooked" means that the egg whites were partially runny. The hash brown was white (almost uncooked) and not brown and the sausages were only roasted on one side. The toasts were ok but I should have asked for WHEAT ones but nobody was asking us about choices. Also there was no MUSTARD available FOR THE SAUSAGES. My husband and I stopped to grab some pastries before a hike. The parking lot was full but we found ample street parking out back. When we walked up there was a line out the door, which we should have guessed since it was Saturday morning. The woman at the register kept the line moving quickly though. We ordered from the case on the right-- which is the correct choice if you want their housemade goods. (Someone told us that the desserts in the left case aren't made in house?) We only planned to get a few things but ended up walking out with a maple bismarck, a chocolate bismarck, a buttermilk donut, an apple 'cup' (kind of like monkey bread in a muffin shape), and a chocolate chip cookie. We ate the bismarks right away-- they were good, nothing spectacular. But I'm glad we ordered more than we planned bc the dense buttermilk donut and the apple cup were delicious. Nothing was warm from the deli case, but we took them home and warmed them in the oven for breakfast the next day. So good! ....It wasn't the cleanest place, and my husband said the bathroom situation was strange, but the prices were fair, the service was fast and friendly, and I'm still thinking about that apple cup! I'm updating my review after going to sultan bakery for breakfast as I had hoped to do. I had the avocado omelette with feta instead of cheddar and hubby had the pork chop breakfast. He said the pork was cooked really well but his sunny side up eggs were way too raw on the whites. Mine was absolutely delicious except the hash browns were too thick so none of it was really crispy, it was mostly mush. So that did honestly disappoint me. Finally, we shared a cinnamon bun top thing (pictured) which was delicious, except the outside was hard and super dry. Maybe a little old? So though I am adding a star, I think a couple things could be changed and then this place would get a well deserved 5 star rating. read more

Stopped here for breakfast with my husband and our pup. Tip: they do have an outdoor seating area which is covered in case it's raining, and it's dog-friendly! The breakfast was just what we needed, plus we shared one of their cinnamon rolls which was pretty great. They are hiring. Donut selection variety is not what I remember it to be. They had buttermilk bars, apple fritters, maple and chocolate bars available. The donuts we did purchase were very tasty. For a large apple fritter the dough was fried all the way through which I do appreciate. A raw donut is not very tasty. I'm glad we made it early enough that there were some available because they do go very fast. If you are craving a donut and they are open. It's worth a stop inside. this place, once a Hidden gem is absolutely delicious and a step back into old Americana. The biggest problem this place has is all the weirdo pedal bike people that stop in droves of 30 and clog up the line ordering one donut apiece without tipping. meanwhile, families that would like to stop to get a big breakfast and donuts to go just keep driving up the pass because we don't wanna stand in line behind you sweaty people for 30 minutes. I've been to the Sultan Bakery many times but never a review. My last visit was yesterday. I got in just after opening and was greeted with a full case of baked goods of every variety. They do not half step. There is no table service per se. you order at the counter and they bring your food and glasses of water if you want it. The food is great and the portions are large. Prices have gone up over time but what hasn't? Last visit was a Belgian waffle plain. They do not have sugar free syrup do those of us watching sugar intake use the syrup sparingly. It gets crowded on the weekends but they have an outdoor seating area in fair weather. It's the most popular place to eat in Sultan and it's right on US 2 so those traveling to and from the Pass can stop in. read more

We stopped in here when starvation set in during a car trip. It doesn't look like much from the outside, and our expectations were not high as a result. How nice to be proved wrong! You order at the counter from menus on Wall-mounted whiteboards, which is kind of a crackup when you see them. The selection is kind of interesting- standard breakfast fare, but also pulled pork tacos and some other unexpected items. We just ordered tea and some doughnuts. The tea was fine, actually surprisingly good quality (Stash) versus what we expected (Lipton). The doughnuts were really fresh and delicious. The tables are clean and the place is packed. There was a huge line for service when we left, so I guess we timed it right. The decor isn't special, and the whole place has a certain truck stop vibe to it, but whatever. It's good. This place is a great food stop after hiking in the Cascades. My friends and I came here around 3:30pm yesterday after a long hike, and were rewarded with delicious sandwiches on homemade bread and some treats from the dessert case. I got the veggie melt, which was delicious and full of melty cheese. The bread was delicious, and it was exactly what I needed after the hike. I also got a slice of lemon cheesecake ($4.95) which was on the pricey side for one slice, but it was quite delicious. The ladies at the counter were very nice. They also had a nice outdoor seating area, although it was too hot for us to want to sit outside. Its a smaller diner with a decent selection of baked goods, but also a great selection of deli type foods - sandwiches, burritos, steaks, quesadillas, pork chops, burgers, etc... I've come back multiple times and the service is wonderful - a homey welcoming hospital small town feel. On top of that, the prices are fantastic while the portions are huge! The food might not be the best top notch quality, but its definitely acceptable for the price & portions.
