Food isn't bad, but not $18 good. Service is exceptionally rude for pickup; I waited at the counter for 10 minutes without so much as eye contact. We're talking only 1-2 other people at the counter. The guy with a French accent would just randomly pick people to check in with regardless how long you were waiting. Even the most basic acknowledgment like you get at a fast food restaurant would have fixed this. Many if not most of the reviews for all the restaurants in this location are fake and likely written by AI. You had this soup (at a restaurant opened in 2022) *as a child* and it "healed you"? Sumac and Soupchu are part of the Gastro bot, a collection of three restaurants one block east of LaBrea on Wilshire Boulevard. Sumac and Soupchu are both Mediterranean and Turkish restaurants, which really other than a couple tables is for takeout. The friendly server took my order from three different restaurants to choose from. From Sumac I ordered the Babaganoush which was extremely fresh and tasty. I had not had such flavorful Babaganoush since I spent a month driving around Turkey. Merhaba! I also order the Gluten Free Red Lentil Soup. This soup was amazingly tasty and lasted for 3 cups. I hope this place does well because I want to return to try more items from the menu. Parking is tough with the Metro construction but there is a lot out front that is monitored for use only by the patrons. read more

Doa and the crew were all incredibly welcoming and kind to my friend and I upon arrival. Between kind conversation, great recommendations, and even upselling us on some additional sides, our experience at Sumac was incredible. Open until 1am, we came in for a late night bite, and the chicken and falafel didn't disappoint. I have just discovered the most wonderful Mediterranean restaurant serving excellent and authentic Lebanese food. As an Australian of Lebanese heritage I am always looking for a restaurant that can replicate the outstanding cooking of my mother, who along with my father ran a café for 20 years in Australia. From the wonderful appetizers to the delicious main courses I believe I have found that restaurant. The space itself is very cozy and inviting, with its exposed brick walls, lighting and open ceiling. The owners are a husband and wife team, and the wife was there (with her adorable new infant) throughout our visit, and made it all the more enjoyable, along with her sister-in-law. SUMAC is a must visit for its wonderful food and atmosphere. So enjoyable!! I will be returning with my partner often. read more

I got the chicken salad and added the meatballs and herb labneh. Quality of food was amazing and everything was a flavor bomb. Both labnes are AMAZING. Not a single item lacks flavor. I don't even like beets but I ate all the beets cause they were so good! I wish I could try their eggplants dolmas but they might have taken that off the menu. Would love to try everything from here cause clearly the chef knows exactly what they're doing! Will be going back at least once a week! I got the Sultan's Delight, and it was beyond my expectations. Everything melted in my mouth with a punch full of flavors. It's one of the best hummus I had out of my other experiences. If you haven't tried this place, you're missing out! The owner was so generous and provided me with free double pistachio baklava! I wanted yummy Mediterranean food and while scrolling I happen to stumble across Sumac. They were open later than others and their pictures looked good and reviews were good so we thought we'd try it. OMG I was not expecting a delivery to taste this amazing. We got the falafel bowl, chicken bowl, hummus, and the spicy ezme. Delicious. It came with a few sauces and I'm not sure what they were but I'd order them again. Portions were big & now I need an 8hr nap. Thanks to the staff that made my delivery tasty & thoughtful. Highly recommend this place. read more

There should be a line down the block for food this good. Some of the best Mediterranean I've had in L.A. (including the valley). Perfectly cooked seasoned chicken with rice and superb vegetables. Accompanied by delicious flavorful sauces on the side. Plus we ordered the full range of pita dips, hummus, etc. Great flavor. Excellent recyclable packaging.
