We ordered a variety of dishes including chicken kebab, ground chicken kebab, chicken shish kebab, and beef shish kebab with sides of fries, hummus, and baba ghanoush, but unfortunately the entire experience was very disappointing. The service was awful from start to finish as no one checked on our table and our food arrived very late. They even forgot our fries at first, and when they finally came they were undercooked. The food itself lacked flavor across the board, and even the baba ghanoush tasted bland. Overall, nothing stood out in a good way and we did not enjoy our meal at all. We will not be coming back.

My friend suggested this restaurant after our spa day and it was delicious and vibey! It felt authentic (though I have no way of knowing if it was) and our waitress was really nice and patient about explaining the menu. She was also super knowledgeable about the ingredients of dishes, which is super important to me as someone with dietary restrictions. The music was very cultural and super catchy. The food tasted fresh and I enjoyed my whole meal. I would definitely come back here if someone suggested it. The parking sucks though so prepare for that.

Beef pancake. Awesome! Full of flavor . Unique .

My thoughts on Open Sesame (re: Long Beach now Hollywood ) hasn't changed much one iota. Their beef based products are succulent, seasoned and tasty. Their chicken kabob or any of its variations are stiff, lack flavor and super overpriced. You can by the cut (smaller squares ) and the dimmer saturation on the exterior. So, stick to their beef products and you'll be fine. 3/5

Overall yummy! Chicken was a little dry and the hummus was just okay. Service was very friendly and quick! Sat outside on the patio and it was cute but can get a little loud

Had an amazing time. The food was just next level, every single dish was packed with flavor. The space felt cozy and real, and loved the little bar setup, it just added to the whole vibe. Skyler took care of us and she was awesome. Super attentive, full of energy, and you could tell she genuinely cared. Service overall was top notch. Definitely one of those spots I'll keep coming back to.

For years, I worked in Long Beach. For years, I would frequent the Long Beach location. Lots of memories and unforgettable meals. Now it's time to start over, this time closer to home (and work). I've never had a problem finding parking on Beverly. Yes, you deal with meters, however, enforcement isn't 24/7. Read the signs though. I believe it ends at 8PM. And feeding the meter is cheaper than a ticket. It's life in LA. Just deal with it. My friend and I walked in without reservations. On a Friday night too. However, we got there early enough that we got to sit at the bar, then had the choice of sitting inside or out and any open table. Had we gotten there later, it's likely we would have had to wait or go elsewhere. It got busy and I didn't see an empty table or seat at the bar when we finished up. Service was great. Not remembering his name but he was our guy in addition to tending the bar. I know he was busy but somehow he would just appear right we we needed or wanted something. Also makes means drinks. As for the food, see pics. We were mainly there for drinks and appetizers and I wish the lighting was better because the pics don't do the dishes any justice. We filled up on too much Pita with the starter Mezza Sampler and ended up just sharing The Sultan and a Baklawa Crumble. Just know, there were no leftovers. Sorry, no pics of the Sultan - we dived right in and I forgot. Anyway, I'm glad I finally made it here and know it won't be my last.

My new go-to Mediterranean spot! Open Sesame is everything I was looking for--well-located, super cute, chill vibe, and amazing ambiance. I'd been missing a solid Mediterranean place on my rotation, and this one filled the gap perfectly. Veggie options are plenty, and every dish I've tried has been a total hit: Spicy hummus - creamy and full of flavor, 5/5 Hot pita pockets - fresh and endless, 5/5 Falafel - crispy on the outside, soft inside, 5/5 Fattoush salad & Zaatar pizza - light, fresh, and flavorful, both 5/5 Our server was pleasant and easygoing so that was a bonus too and the whole place just feels inviting. I've already been three times, and I'm officially a loyalist. Highly recommend!

Ask the Community - Open Sesame

Are you open for regular hours on Halloween?

Hi Shei - Yes we are :) from 3pm to 10pm - look forward to seeing you!

Is this restaurant run by the same people who operate open sesame in Belmont shore, long beach?

Hi Dan - Yes it is the same owner.

Do they take reservations?

Yes for large groups

How noisy is this restaurant?

I would say it's about average inside. You can hear people talking and the chefs making the food. There is also outdoor seating but you can also hear people talking and walking on the street and cars driving by.

The zucchini is firm, just soft enough, but still with the perfect amount of structure. It has been hollowed out and stuffed with ingredients similar to a dolma (stuffed grape leaf). The filling of rice and ground beef is soft. The eggplant is much softer. They are cooked in a tomato sauce and served with a cool creamy yogurt. Babaganouj: This mezze is a roasted eggplant dip. The eggplant is mashed with tahini and lemon juice for a smoky and slightly bitter flavor. It's smooth, creamy, and a bit chunky. Parking: There's a little lot to the side. Service was a little slow, we had to remind them to get our drinks and desserts a few times. But overall we had a good experience, it's a great place to hang out and chill. The pita bread was so good! We also really like the chicken sambousek, I wish they had beef too. The Fattoush salad was refreshing & super tasty, I really liked the pomegranate lemon dressing. For main entrees we enjoyed the Mediterranean Chicken Manoush (pizza). It was a good size, next time we will try the Merguez Sausage pizza. We also really like the Braised Short Ribs and the Mediterranean Halibut. Both dishes were tender & flavorful, just wish they were bigger. We really liked their fresh squeezed hibiscus lemonade and the fresh mint lemonade. Unfortunately the desserts were only ok, they were a little dry. We tried the bread pudding, pistachio rose cake, Nutella jam cookie and carrot cake. We will definitely return to try more items on the menu.

We let the waiter know it was our first time trying Lebanese food and he went through the whole menu with us, which was extremely helpful. The grape leaves and babaganoush were a must for us, since we wanted to try dishes that were different from what we have tried before. The grape leaves were herby and hearty, and the babaganoush was flavorful without the tang of a hummus, which I enjoyed. The fried cauliflower was crispy and hot with a creamy sauce that paired well. Their arayes are a must -- it's basically like a lahmajun with two pieces pressed together, and it's insanely good. I usually go all in and order the tabbouleh, babaganoush, a pound of lula kebab, and shish kebab. Honestly, if you're with 2+ people (or even just really hungry), ordering by the pound with sides is way better value than getting individual plates. You get more variety and it just feels like the right way to eat here. Every now and then I'll switch it up and get the liver plate -- it comes with tons of greens and onions, and when you wrap everything in their fresh pita, it's incredible. Not an everyday order, but when you're in the mood for it, it hits. If you dine in, the indoor decor is super nice and really gives that authentic Mediterranean vibe. They also play a lot of 90s music, which somehow fits perfectly and adds to the whole experience. I've dined in plenty of times and the service is always solid -- staff is friendly and attentive. Just a heads up, food can take a little longer sometimes, but that's because they're always busy and everything is made fresh, so it's worth the wait. I've also done takeout here more times than I can count -- probably over 100 orders at this point -- which says everything. This is easily one of my go-to spots and I keep coming back for a reason.

From the moment we arrived, the vibe felt off. The host who seated us (who later turned out to also be a server) left us at the table, and no one approached us for about 10 minutes. When a server finally came over, the first thing she said was "Ready? Ready?", no greeting, no welcome, nothing. We were never brought water. I had to ask a busser for it because the server walked past our table multiple times, clearly saw us, and chose to ignore us. The food runner was also rude, he dropped the plates on the table without saying a single word. Throughout the entire meal, no one checked on us. No "How is everything?" No "Do you need anything?" Nothing at all. Meanwhile, we noticed that nearby tables were being greeted, checked on, and treated kindly. When we asked for the check, the server literally threw it on the table without saying a word. The experience was so bad that we decided not to leave a tip; Something we never do, especially since we truly value good service and I personally work in the restaurant industry. I don't know if the treatment had anything to do with how we looked or how we were dressed, but I've never felt so ignored and uncomfortable in a restaurant before. The food may be fine, but the service completely ruins the experience. I would not return or recommend this place.
