The food was delicious. The chef's choice of sauces and apps were all very tasty -- eggplant salad, pickled carrots, plus a few others. The lentil soup was amazing. The bread didn't come out with the apps or the lentil, so we had to ask for it after 10 minutes. Would've been nice to get all of the apps at the same time. They ran out of Chicken Shawarma, which sucked. But we ended up getting mixed tikka skewers (lamb and chicken), a chicken tikka sandwich, and side of fries. The skewers were tasty, but very thick and well done -- I prefer tender meat. Would've been nice to have garlic fries or greek fries on the menu instead of regular fries, but tasty nonetheless. Disappointed with the sandwich. The garlic sauce wasn't great. Felt like I was eating a big skewer that was bathed in gravy inside of a wrap. They seemed to be understaffed. The waitress didn't check on us after the food arrived. I kept a menu at the table in case I wanted to order seconds, but she never asked if I wanted more food. Huge opportunity missed to upsell me. Also not fond of waitresses playing the cashier at the table and watching the screen as I answer how much tip I want to give. It's almost 2025, let's do away with this payment process. 4/5 for me. Having lived in Sac for so long and being foodies, we cannot believe we missed this gem of a place! The restaurant has a big beautiful indoor seating area- we loved their hot Iraqi tea perfect for a chilly evening. My husband tried the falafel plate and I tried their chicken shawarma plate- which mentions authentic Iraqi flavours. They offer a lot of food portions in each plate so it's worth the price. We had leftovers until next day! The lentil soup and sides that come along with each entree were incredibly delicious! Very clean restaurant. We were greeted and seated immediately. Menu selection was robust. Best beloved had Mix Kebab plate with beef and lamb, and chicken, and rice. I had lamb ribs with grilled tomato and onion. We had Baba Ghanuge, Lentil Soup, two different appetizer plates that had Hummus, Jajeek, Tabouleh, Eggplant Salad, Shwandaria, and other things I can't remember. There was also Greek Salad and Naan. The food was flavorful and well presented. There was a mild disruption. A homeless person wandered in and tried to cause a scene, but the owner very quickly handled it. Inside has nice ambient music, the restaurant is nice and open with high ceilings and lots of light. Service is excellent. We came in my service dog and our waitress was really sweet to her and offered water which I feel is a huge plus for wait staff at any restaurant. At first glance the plates look a bit pricey, but with all the side dishes and soup you get with the meal it turns out to be a TON of food. We thought we were under ordering, turns out it was way over what we could eat, had to bring back almost half of our order. It's also great they have a reasonable price on side dishes like kebabs, if you feel you need a bit more food just flush your meal out with a few extra things. Everything we got was more delicious than the last, my personal favorite was the lamb kebab, it had a nice crunchy char on the outside and a juicy burst of flavor inside. The Lamb quzi plate is huge - got darn near a whole leg of lamb and some ribs, and the rice is outstanding. If you've never had middle eastern food, then I guess you wouldn't tell as much but if you're middle eaten then the quality is just mid. I ordered the chicken tikka, it was super dry and not really flavorful. Guess I'm used to rich flavored middle eastern food. My friend got the falafel and that was extremely dry as well, we were dipping it in every sauce we had nearby. The only good thing that I actually enjoyed was the lentil soup lol. That was pretty good but nothing outstanding either. I also liked their rice with the nuts and raisin which is surprising because I don't usually like that combo! The service was BAD. There were two ladies working, one of them was really sweet and the other just had a really off putting/rude demeanor (maybe it's just her personality tho). The nice one took our order but she took it without writing anything down which okay cool... but we didn't get our drinks or the apps/sides we ordered. We got our main dishes and were almost done eating before anyone checked on us, we hadn't gotten any water refills and had to remind them about our drinks by the end of our meal which I really didn't want anymore.... And I asked them to cancel the sides/apps cuz our meal was almost over lol. They didn't even put it in. The only good thing was that they don't charge tip?? Idk when I paid she didn't ask for tip or anything and I honestly wasn't going to leave a big tip, just standard one with how bad the service was. Then Shams (our server) brought out a beautiful assortment of starters like hummus, tabbouleh, roasted eggplant and more along with some warm fresh bread. I don't know what happened to this place but it's not the same... I go to the gym behind there and decided I wanted something healthy for dinner. I came over the service was absolutely horrible, took forever to get drinks, they didn't bring half of the appetizer (bread) out and I had to ask for it twice. At no point did anybody come to check on us to see if we needed refills which we did, and I would love to blame it on being busy but there was literally five waitresses just standing around chitchatting. My meal was unbelievably dry and after being ignored for 20 minutes I decided it was time to leave, I tried to get the attention of the waitresses that were just standing around, they looked me right in the eyes and then all of them went into the back. I got up to ask for a box and the check and I could see them all sitting on the counters in the back literally just hanging out. I came here a couple weeks ago with a friend for lunch. I ordered the beef shawarma plate. The food was absolutely delicious! I really appreciate how they brought small appetizers before our food arrived. My only feedback is that the server did not pay attention to our table. We sat for quite awhile with empty water glasses waiting for them to be refilled. We saw our server sitting at the opposite side of the bar with someone else not paying attention to his tables. My son has been wanting shawarmas lately so we were able to pull this place up. I'm confused about all the hype. When we got there there was two other families in there, but a handful of men in the back patio area smoking heavily. Inside is nice, we were seated immediately and our server came out quick. She brought out lentil soup as a complimentary starter. Soup was decent, not too bad (hence the two stars). We ordered the chicken shawarma as soon as I took the first bite I did not like it. The taste was different and weird. I honestly could not take another bite. No one in our party liked it. What a waste of money really. We didn't say anything either we got our check, paid and left, then we went to raising cane's because it was down the street and we didn't enjoy our meal at this restaurant. We asked what kind region of food this was the girl said Iranian, this was the first time for us trying this Iranian type of food. I've had shawarmas before and really do like it but this wasn't a typical shawarma wrap. We won't be back because this isn't my preference in taste. I enjoy bold flavors and some nice different kinds of spices, and most importantly seasoning is everything! But if you like Iranian food then maybe you'll like it. I came around 5pm on Monday night on typically 100 degree Sacramento summer evening to order take-out. Decor was a bit funky but I mostly only saw the reception area. Koran verses- not atypical for an Arabic restaurant. However the tree trunks, license place and fishing nets- seemed more expected at a local dive bar or Long John Silvers. A pomegranate juice sounded delightful- but they didn't have it. The pink lemonade was quite refreshing. The fattoush salad was well dressed- but was missing fattoush (bread). I've spent time in Egypt, Lebanon and Jordan- I know my fattoush salads. The best part of the meal was the felaful sandwich. It wasn't on the menu. The pita was fresh. Probably the best felaful I've had in Sacramento. Not too spicy perfectly fried. The misspelling of "summer" is a tough one to get over. But for excellent felaful- it is my issue. I sent a picture of the sign inside, and my friend in Egypt said it translates to Dallaa' Kershak or "Spoil your belly" or "Give your belly a treat."
