Smoked meat sandwich is so good. Sumilicious is a deli place that opened down the street from my house at Middlefield and Steeles. From what I read the owner is from Schwartz Montreal. I tried Katz's in New York and this place is just as good. They have smoked meat, chicken, turkey and salami. Ordered the smoke meat sandwich combo which comes with fries, coleslaw and a pickle. If you like more fatty meat you can ask when you order. I got the regular it had a bit of fatty, with mustard on the bread and the smokey taste of the meat makes the combination amazing. This is a nice place to indulge your craving for smoked meat. We arrived late afternoon, so there was plenty of seating inside. Since it was our first time, we ordered a smoked meat sandwich ($9.99) and smoked meat poutine ($8.50) to share. By the time I finished taking pictures my order was ready! The meat was tender, juicy, perfectly smoked, not too lean or fatty. I didn't find the smoked meat too salty either, which was one of my first concerns. The poutine had a generous amount of gravy, but I think I would prefer the regular fries next time. I agree with others that a combo with a drink would be a great addition. I could have easily eaten both items by myself, so I guess my IG name speaks for itself! read more

Expensive AF. Last time I was here was 1.5 yrs ago. Prices for smoked meat sandwich has risen $3 since then as has everything else. Not worth it imo. Mentioned how the prices have increased since then and the counter person/owner's wife became a complete jackass, rude and said if you dont like dont come here. Wow, wtf! The bread is plain as anything. No different than No Frills plain bread. In fact everything there is plain, nothing impressive or great at all. I compare it to a typical dive joint but in a cleaner location. Owner's attitude didn't help the review. Deserves the 1 star. I'd give it zero but yelp doesn't give that option, lol. SAD! read more

An absolute treasure to beef lovers. Unfortunately they close early and i cannot make it on time most of the time.

We had two smoked meat combos. The sandwiches were huge and delicious. The smoked meat was moist and full of flavour, the bread was fresh, and the mustard was a lovely addition. The combo came with fries. The home fries were great and came with vinegar - which made me nostalgic for Montreal. The coleslaw was good and added freshness to the dish, and the combo came with a deli pickle. The staff is helpful and friendly, the location is on transit and has lots of parking. read more

The restaurant was clean and the service was great. The employees there were friendly and were willing to walk us through the food items they offered. The smoked meat poutine was definitely a large portion, so the value was there. It's been a long time since I've had smoked meat, so it was interesting to try. The meat is tender and seemed to blend well with the underlying poutine. The gravy is mild and doesn't overpower the taste of the meat. I wonder how it would alter the taste of the entire dish if the gravy was more like what NYfries offers. read more

It isn't cheap but you get what you pay for My brother came to visit from Hong Kong and I got smoked meats and poutine for him to try and he loved it. A new smoked meat joint? In Scarborough?? It sounds crazy but Sumilicious is worth the trip. We arrived around lunchtime on a weekday and the place was quite busy. I decided to keep it simple by ordering a smoked meat sandwich with a side of coleslaw. The 'wich was ready to eat just a few minutes later and my god, it's an enormous concoction. It comes wrapped in paper - greasy, greasy paper - and when you unfurl it, the whole thing kind of just falls apart. It's a veritable (and intimidating) mountain of meat. But how's it taste, you're wondering. It's good. It's very good, in fact. The meat is super tender and moist, as they've smartly mixed the lean pieces in with the really fatty pieces. It was actually a perfect blend. I wouldn't say it was the most flavorful smoked meat I've ever eaten - the spices were subtle to the point of non-existence - but combined with the tasty deli mustard and fresh rye bread, the sandwich is pretty damn great. (The coleslaw is a cut above, as well. It's not the creamy style but rather the vinegar-based type, and I loved it.) read more

Ever since I had Schwartz's years ago I've been craving that awesome combo of mustard, smokiness, and fattiness. Came to Sumilicious and ordered a smoked meat sandwich, asked for extra fatty and the guy obliged. Combo comes with really nice housemade fries, a thicc pickle, and coleslaw. The coleslaw is not the creamy kind, but the vinegary sweetness is more light and refreshing, good match with the fries and the rich meat sandwich. The meat itself was succulent and the generous fattiness made the sandwich nice and juicy (though my friends who all ordered the normal sandwich thought it was nice as well). As a bonus, we all thought this kind of meal would leave us feeling bloated or whatever like how you feel when you eat a couple big macs at McDonald's. But I felt great after! I guess that's what happens when you use good ingredients and treat them well. A definite recommend from me! read more

The meat here is delicious. We ordered the pound meat and the meat poutine. The pound meat was very tender and it came with sliced bread. I enjoyed it but I think that they should have more toppings available for the bread. The poutine was amazing! They were very liberal with the gravy and cheese. It comes with a lot! Dry, dry, dry. Nothing like Schwartz's in Mtl. Instead of steamed slices, it was air dryer like beef jerky. Price point is also disappointing! Anyone who thinks this is as good as Schwartz's should have their head and taste buds examined. Everything has gone downhill except their prices have gone up and up! For a place that boasts it is opened by a former Schwartz veteran, I came with high expectations. It was not Schwartz for sure, but a very close experience and very very legit food nonetheless. You walk in and everything smells amazing. Staff at the counter was helpful and service was prompt. Got 2 smoked meat sandwiches and a poutine to share. Portions are huge and fair for the price, definitely on the hefty side for ladies. Smoked meat was beautiful. Tender and falls apart to the touch with a really nice balance of flavour. Not overly salty, with specks of peppercorns and just the right amount of mustard giving it some extra flavour every other bite. There were also parts that are pure fat, which give you a nice guilty surprise as you go through the sandwich. I did feel the bread and how the sandwich was put together didn't do the smoked meat justice. The meat was piled on a lot thicker in the middle, so it was messy to hold and eat. The bread was also too soft for the thickness of the meat, it worked in terms of soaking up the goodness, but overall sandwich lacked structure and took away from the 5 star smoked meat. The poutine for me was a huge miss. Fries were completely soggy even though it was made fresh to order. Gravy was on the too salty end as well. I think if they don't serve it in the black plastic boxes but change to paper takeout boxes where the fries can "breathe" a lil, it would make it a lot better. Overall, I loved the food and would see myself coming every so often. My bf says that this place would make him not need to drive up to Montreal every so often when he craves that perfect smoked meat sandwich. read more

Heard about this place while In Montreal on a food experience holiday. I ate at Schwartz's earlier this week so naturally, I was excited that a like experience existed at home. Yesterday, I had the smoked meet poutine and while it was very good, the poutine I had at La Banquise in Montreal is the benchmark. The smoked meat sandwich on the other hand was undeniably delicious! Bigger portion than Schwartz's and as tasty if not more so. Highly recommend this place! Wow. How long has this place been open and I was unaware!‽ Montreal-style smoked meat that is the best I've ever had outside of Montreal, and better than some of the places I've been to in Montreal. Like in Montreal, the sandwiches are very simple. Small slices of bread, a bit of regular mustard, and just a huge amount of smoked meat. Cut correctly with just the right amount of fat, and that amazing Montreal smoked meat texture and taste. The combo came with an enormous dill pickle, some fries and some coleslaw. The fries were soggy and I was going to deduct a point, but the sandwich exceeded hopes handily, and since that was the main event, I'll stick with 5 stars. If you are missing Montreal smoked meat because you live in the GTA, make your way here and get your fix. You will think you drove the six hours to Montreal! read more

I was so excited about this place when they opened! No more 4-5 hour drives to Montreal to get it. The meats here are a little different than Montreal, you can't choose the fatness or leanness of the meats, the owner cuts it for you. I suggest you go earlier in the day. I came here several times but the most recent experience has made me drop a star. I ordered takeout meat poutine and the classic meat sandwich. This is the second time I've ordered the meat poutine and this time around wasn't as good as my first experience. The fries were soggy and they used the "leftover" meat crumbs on the poutine. I should have just taken Costco fries with gravy and ordered some meat by the pound here. Probably would have been cheaper and would taste much better. ** the attached meat poutine picture was from my first visit (when they first opened) Now it's just meat crumbs. The sandwich was good as always but go early! I went around 8 pm and the meat served wasn't hot or warm. It made the sandwich taste bland. I'm conflicted. On one hand - great sandwich, comparable to Schwartz. On the other hand - I asked for the fatty and received a lot of pieces that are pure fat. Is it really expected that someone would actually eat such fat pieces? I would understand if it was only a few pieces that had this issue but I think 1/5 of my sandwich was pure fat. Second problem - they are not very organized. It was slightly busy but fries took at least 10 minutes. Ive heard of complaints that they may run out of meat and require another 30-40 minutes of waiting time. Maybe they need to invest in a steamer? I saw them take the smoked meat out of a cooler instead. It's a bit slow considering they are just slicing some meat that is already cooked. In terms of the sandwich - it was good, though I think Schwartz is more Smokey. I wish it was hotter, that wouldn't have been a problem if they sort out some kinks with their organization. But honestly I will still come again... Just hoping it will be better next time! read more

The sandwich was hefty, and the poutine was great and couldnt finish (big portions!). Owner guy told me Caplansky walked in twice too! It's been a while since I've had a good juicy smoked meat sandwich. I ordered mine to be a bit fattier. I hate dry meat. It was delicious! The bread was soft and the crust wasn't too hard. I'm particular about food not cutting my mouth. I also tried the poutine with smoked meat and I think this is my favourite poutine. It can do without the smoked meat especially if you are having the sandwich. The gravy covers the flavour of the meat anyway. So just the poutine is perfect. The shop reminds me a bit of Schwartz but cleaner and less chaotic, without the 6+ hour drive. I think I'll try the pickles next. read more

The chicken sandwich,season with montreal spice, is also very nice and you must have a serving Of coleslaw. Try the poutine with well done fries and extra cheese churds. Good portions. If you need more, just ask. If you're taking home a whole brisket or a pound hurry. Sells out fast by evening. The smoked meat here is comparable to the best smoked meat available in Montreal. The meat is tenderized so that it melts in your mouth. Went on a Wednesday afternoon and it was quiet. They have about 30 seats in the restaurant with very simple and clean interior decor with no table service. The smoke meat was tasty - I still think Swartz's tastes better but it could be because I ate Sumilicious' a few hours after I got it instead of eating it fresh fresh. I read some reviews saying that it is too dry - it depends on what kind of cuts you order/they give you. Out of the 3 sandwiches I ordered, one was perfect, and the other two were on the dryer side. $10 per smoke meat sandwich, portion was fair. They also have other kind of sandwiches but I only had my eyes on the smoke meat. $14.50 for a smoke meat combo which includes the sandwich, pickles, coleslaw and fries - drink is NOT included in the combo. Pop is $1.75 except for cherry coke, which is $1.99. I will definitely go back and try their smoke meat poutine next time. read more

Stopped in to sample some smoked meat while in the area for work. Sumilicious is a bit hidden in a newer outlet type mall on the corner of Steeles and Middlefield Rd., it's on the Middlefield Rd. Side. There currently isn't any indoor seating due to COVID but I wasn't going to eat in anyway. Sumiliciois is quite a popular place and there was a fair line up around the lunch time. Tried the Smoke meat sandwich combo, comes with fries, coleslaw, and a pickle, the drink is extra. The sandwich was delicious piled high with smoked meat. The fries looked great with a nice golden colour but weren't actually very good as they were limp and soggy. The coleslaw wasn't to my liking either and was basically shredded cabbage in vinegar. So good marks for the sandwich but the sides IMHO were somewhat lacking. If I were coming again I'd just get the sandwich and skip the sides. Oh and FYI the prices have gone up, I believe the Smoked Meat Combo is now $17.50. read more
