Our freezer started to not be completely frozen, so I reached out to Summer Fridge and one other company based on the positive Yelp reviews here. Summer Fridge responded within a half hour, and offered a time for the following day; the other company, since I was in Walnut Creek, couldn't offer a time until the following week so I went with Summer Fridge. Omar had excellent communication, gave us a window of time but then in the morning made the time within that window definitive, and arrived exactly on time. He also had booties at the ready for coming inside, which we appreciated since we do not wear shoes in our house. He repaired our freezer and explained the problem (plus replaced a drain that had been backing up for free), and hopefully, since our freezer is 13 years old, it lasts a few more years. Okay, so our ice maker stopped working years ago. We had people come out several times and they could not figure out how to fix it. After having every part replaced it still didn't work. Fast forward to two weeks ago, our fridge stopped cooling and our water dispenser stopped working. So we called summer fridge and they came out (sorry I don't know the guy's name because my husband was the one handling it) and within minutes he figured out our problem, not only did he fix the cooling and water dispenser he fixed our ICE MAKER!!!! Woo hoo!!! I would definitely use these guys again! Super quick at solving the problem, he was in and out within 45 minutes and it was very fairly priced. The freezer of my Liebherr fridge wasn't cooling and I needed to get it diagnosed since I didn't know if this would also affect the refrigerator part as well. I researched and received quotes for appliance repair service nearby but the majority of them didn't service Liebherr or the ratings for others who did made me hesitate. I found Summer Fridge on Google as well as yelp as a good option. Although he services the east bay, Omar was able to travel into the City for a small fee and diagnose the issue (the evaporator fan was dead). He was able to come in within the week with the part and now it's working properly and I haven't had any issues since. Update: So there was a communication issue and Omar showed up to diagnose the issue with my refrigerator. Omar explained the issue with my fridge and what the repair would encompass. Omar even gave me tips on properly clearing space for the fridge to operate properly and getting a back cover to ensure the compressor doesn't overheat again. Contractor sent me a message via Yelp at 8:34 am to confirm the appointment, despite having my phone number to contact me picked Yelp. Mind you this inquiry was out of normal business hours. 2. I picked the appointment time that I needed which was from 12 pm to 2 pm. At 8:00 am I was on a Zoom training so I wasn't checking my phone for a confirmation of an appointment I set up. 3. This worker is not trying to work. I have managed people in several different industries. Check their cancellation rate I bet you will see this person has a higher rate of cancellations. read more

Omar quickly diagnosed a bad circuit board and replaced it on the spot. He also recognized that the reason for the board burning out was poor airflow in the compressor compartment. He cleaned the coil unit ands showed me before and after photos of the difference. Night and day! I had the same problem several years ago and the tech never mentioned airflow, just replaced the board with an after-market product. Got hold of Omar very quickly. He came out the next day and pretty much knew what was wrong already (in a phone call I let him know the freezer was working, but the refrigerator was too hot). He identified the issue as an ice dam blocking air flow from the freezer to the refrigerator (side by side unit). Cleaned it up and it's been fine for a week+. If the issue returns, it's most likely a circuit board - much more expensive a fix. I found Omar to be pleasant, competent and honest. Highly recommended. read more

I'm giving Omar 5 stars for being nice. I certainly don't want to hurt his business. BUT I want to stress to folks calling for repairs---if you have an old refrigerator. Ie. 17 years old DON'T waste your money or much more than the initial inspection fee. I suspected that the "fix" would not work and I suspect that Omar did too. Just go get a new refrigerator and stop believing that the old one is so much better than anything new. True, but hardly worth fixing. The hassle of believing and then delaying the purchase was as bad as the broken frig. If the frig is leaking Freon, it's doubtful that a squirt of the stuff will fix all. Use common sense, homeowner. read more
