This was a real find. It is located slightly off highway, but was way better than the chain highway food so prevalent these days. It is a mom and pop type of place. We found it using Yelp!! The place was clean, prompt courteous service, reasonable prices and the food was perfect. We had buttermilk pancakes with eggs and bacon. Once we sank out teeth into the eggs we knew they were the freshest around. Go here when traveling along 95. You will be tickled. read more

Stopped on our way to NC from Orlando. Is older place but very clean. We ordered the red chicken stew, butter peas and apple salad and beef tips on rice. Both were on their Saturday special list and only $7.50 each! Each entree came with your choice of corn bread or biscuits. Our meal was delicious! Great southern style foods! Only disappointment was the corn bread was baking when we arrived and didn't arrive with my meal. The waitress did send us in our way with three pieces to go! Service was with a smile. read more

Amazing place to stop along the 95 corridor!!! My partner and I each order the Saturday night dinner special for $7.50 which included a meat entree, three sides, a basket of breads, and a dessert. I got the beef tips, fried okra, mac n cheese, greens, cornbread, and peach crisp. He got the red chicken stew, greens, beans, another side that i forget, biscuits, and peach crisp. Everything was really good, especially cornbread, biscuits, greens, mac and cheese, and the peach crisp. It was an AWESOME deal for all of that food! The food was great for the price--and let me emphasize for the price. The beef tips gravy was a little cornstarch-y. The fried okra was OK. The service was excellent--server and host were very sweet. It looks like the place hasn't changed since the 50s, and it's possible that it hasn't according to the history of the diner, which was written on the menu. My partner and I travel via car a lot for both work and fun, and we loathe fast food, so this was a great gem to discover while driving from FL to Maryland. read more

This is one of the Local Jewels in South Carolina... its an establishment that has been apart of the Summerton Landscape since about 1914 or so... the service is always friendly, the Food is always home cooked and has a flavor that is in the generally medium to neutral so it fits most of the general palets from old to young. The only thing that I might say would be on the slightly negative side are some of their desserts, referecing the pies, which seem to be generic... but they have some good cakes... their cheesburgers, for those who enjoy that, are very tasty and taste right off the grill.. Overall I would rate this place highly as does AAA which I believe has it listed as a reccomended stop...all in all this a great place to stop!! read more

I am not going to re-review the food, as there are many good reviews here of that. They have a counter, booths and tables and ample parking. They serve a main dish with sides at a very good price. The service can fast or slow depending on who is supervising at the time, but it is always friendly. "Everybody knows your name." Like many of the smaller food establishments in the area, they do not take cards; bring cash. AND, this is the Bible belt, folks. Just about everything is closed on Sundays, except for the chain stores right at the I-95 exits. read more

We make it a habit to drive through Summerton on the way back from Edisto Beach just to eat here. It is like stepping into the old south/ your grandmother's kitchen. We had stopped at two Denny's restaurants while going north on I-95 and walked out of both because the service was so slow. I'm so glad we found this place! It was worth the extra drive to get to Summerton and just a little ways off the freeway. Despite it being 9 AM on a Saturday morning, we had hot cups of coffee within seconds, quick and friendly service. If you've ever craved a pimento cheese sandwich this is the place to go. It was creamy and delicious on toast just like I remembered from childhood. My husband had never heard of it and loved it. He had the chicken special with mashed potatoes and gravy and yellow squash casserole on the side. Portions were perfect & the casserole was yummy. And our waitress was delightful. I have a few more words for you - Pond-raised fried catfish! You will truly think you've died and gone to Southern down-home cooking nirvana. The lightest, most delicate and delectable breading is applied to the fish which is then quickly fried (as quickly as it is safe to cook a catish) to golden perfection. I don't know if they soak it in milk or use an egg wash or both, but the final product is as good as it gets. If the catfish is not on the specials menu, it will take a little while, cost a bit more, and you will get three big fishes. Try not to gorge on the excellent biscuits and very good corn muffins while you wait. You will be served only two pieces and receive much quicker service if the catfish is on the specials line-up. The specials are the lest expensive good meals I have ever seen. The side dishes can be boring (plain old beans) or can be as exciting as their mouth-watering squash fritters. We've been going there since 1986 as we travel up and down I-95 and we have never had a bad meal in all these years. read more

This place is soooo good! Came across this on a Yelp search for close eats enroute to Savannah. Off the beaten path so to speak but so worth it' not too far off of I95. 2 in our party got hamburgers, handmade patties, great fries too. Myself & another for the veggie plate. What a wonderful hidden gem! The food was absolutely delicious! The service outstanding. If your traveling on I95 near Summerton SC you will want to find this place. I was with a party of 6 and everyone loved their meals. The special was beef tips over rice with 2 sides and peach crisp for dessert. Most of us ordered the special but we all got different sides. The beef was so tender and what a wonderful flavor. The macaroni casserole was excellent. The others loved the sides they order too!
