I have been going to this bike shop since I got my first mountain bike. The guys here are very helpful and provide great service at competitive prices. They're also very friendly and you'll get to know them on a name-to-name basis. The service is very prompt and depending on your bike's issue, the turnaround can be anywhere from 20 minutes to a couple of days. If you're looking for a place to buy a bike, look no further. The guys here all ride themselves and are very experienced in sizing you for the correct fit. You can rest assured these guys won't exploit your lack of knowledge regarding the sport to sell you more expensive things as other shops may. Last Friday we arrived at the store a few minutes before the store opened at 11 am. When they opened the doors we went in and there was 5 employees in the store taking bikes out to the front, milling around the store, etc. Not one person asked us if my boyfriend or I needed help. They just looked at us and kept doing what they were doing. They didn't even greet us when we walked in. My boyfriend wanted to buy a certain bike, we knew which one it was but it was up on the top rack so we needed someone to get it down for us. We stood around for almost 10 minutes waiting for someone to help us when we finally got Charles attention behind the counter. He was friendly and knowledgeable. Turns out, the size bike my boyfriend wanted wasn't built and Charles wasn't sure if they had it in stock. As he was going to check, a customer comes up who wants to pay for his bike repair. Charles tells us to wait while he rings this guy up. Rude? A little. So we tell him we have to be somewhere, can he call us and let us know if it's in stock. Charles said he will call in an hour. He never called. My boyfriend called Charles back in the late afternoon, about 3 hours later. Charles said they have it in stock but it needs to be built, but he can have it done by the end of the day and he will call when it's ready to be picked up. Again, Charles never called. It's been 5 days and never heard back from him. I guess if you're only buying a $400 bike you're not worth their time. Disappointing first experience. I doubt I'll go back there. I'll probably end up getting him the same bike at Hyland Family Bikes where it was the same price but much better customer service. read more

I had mixed experience here. I have bought clipless shoes, socks, and gloves. The customer service was good. I got my bike seat changed to something comfortable. Mike, the manager, did a fair job. But they were all on weekdays when shop was not busy. My nightmare started when I reached on busy weekend (Sunday). New tires/tubes buying and getting fitted took 2+ hours. The worker did a poor job of fitting. The back tire was fitted in opposite direction (based on label). Then, the tube went flat almost after bringing it home. I went back following weekend, and manager was VERY unfriendly. They charged me for new tube and labor despite my protest (after spending nearly $400 in parts and labor in the past 1 month). As it is I was not happy with their service previous weekend. I noticed the manager would ask repair staff to hurry up on the work, not spend too much time with the customers, which is very strange to do openly in front of customers. I will not visit this store any more. I have lot of choices I don't have to be put up with this. read more

I have been to this bike shop about two times. Both times, the service has been great. However, most, if not all of the items and services there are way overpriced. Whenever I call different stores to price check services or products, Trek Bicycle Store consistently ranks as the most expensive. Since I live in Almaden Valley, I will be going elsewhere for my bike needs. I've purchased at least 3 bikes over the years from (new and old location) here. They let you try a bike out and make sure it fits. Great service when I needed repairs and regular maintenance on my bikes. Knowledgable shop techs helped with setting up my bike and with recommending upgrades when asked. I would really want to give them my business because they are conveniently located, but twice recently the people they have working there have closed down more than one half of an hour before the sign on the door says they are open until. Took my bike in because the front gear shifter would not shift gears. I found out later that just tightening the cable nuts would correct the problem. Instead I was sold a replacement gear shifter. Either the repair person didn't realize the simple adjustment would fix the problem, or he just wanted to make a sale. Either way, I won't be going back again. Same problem occurred rear shifter The repair person at Performance Bicycle Shop tightening the cable nuts and sent me on my merry way. read more

after my horrible experience at palo alto bicycles, and the "BMW" (bitching, moaning, and whining) messages that followed from them, i pretty much put off going into a bike shop for the next few decades... but after passing this place at least once a week, i finally convinced myself, if my experience sucks today, having a bike just wasn't meant to be... i came in today to be greeted by robert =] who stuck by me through the entire thing. he gave me a lot of background on all the bikes, and really made sure i found the right one for me. i thought after a while, he'd just squeeze himself back into the background, and try to help someone who wasn't such a pain in the behind... but no! after every test ride, he was always there to welcome me back, and make sure that i knew the risks / benefits of each bike. what really impressed me, is that he treated me like i was a customer. most people now a days will try to sell you the most expensive bike, just so you can get the hell out, and they would've made their company some extra bucks... not this guy... not this store. i started off w/ a $1400 bike for my love's birthday just because i thought it was "pretty" LOL... only to walk away with a $500 one, which i really feel, in the end, was the perfect fit. robert literally put up with my crap for an hour and a half, and it really is genuinely appreciated. i will definitely be back for years to come, because it's rare to find places like this now a days, and i sincerely thank you guys for helping me find my sexy piece of metal =) read more

This was one of the stores I shopped at before buying my first road bike. The store is easy to find, inside a large shopping plaza with plenty of parking. It's a Trek factory store and is clean and rather industrial/modern looking (minimally furnished, sealed concrete floors). I was greeted immediately. I explained to the employee (Craig) that I was looking for a beginner level road bike. He didn't talk down to me and was really helpful in explaining the factors that affect price: frame materials, components, etc. He didn't upsell - in fact he said for my needs I should probably stick to the entry level bikes in the range of $1000. Then he sent me on a great test ride - it started out on easy wide streets, took in some cobblestones, and then a great big climb. It gave me a good feel for the bike. I didn't end up getting the bike there, there but I have no complaints about the shop. The prices are what you would expect. I thought this was a good factory store, but I prefer smaller family owned businesses. read more

I bought a Groupon for this store and after procrastinating all summer, I brought our 3 bikes in to get their tires checked and air filled. They did not try to oversell me on services, but let me tell them what I wanted to have checked. Two of the bikes needed rear tires that needed truing. So they did it for $20 each bike. I also needed a refresher on how to use the preston to shraeder valve converter to pump up our road bike tires. Charles patiently showed me. After that, he help load all the bikes on my bike rack. The service guy Kenny who worked on my bike was very nice as well. This store had a huge selection of bikes, but Trek only. Our family has three Trek bikes that were made in the 1990s and they still run great. I felt their customer service was very good. read more

I took my bike into Trek Bicycle Store for a tune up and ended up having them upgrade my cranks to match the rest of my components. They did a great job, and their tune up special was an incredible deal. They were competent, friendly and helpful. My bike worked almost perfectly when I got on for my first ride. While everything worked well, the shifting wasn't as tightly dialed in as I've had it from other shops. Otherwise, very competent and overall a satisfactory job. I could not beat the price on the service special, and I would definitely take my bike back there given they offer a similar deal in the future. They certainly know their Treks! read more

My husband and I looked at other bike shops for months, we kept coming back to the Trek store on Capitol Ave. Mike helped us and explained all the ins and outs of the bikes we were interested in. We would pop in regularly to test ride and ask a lot of questions and we were always treated wonderfully. After we bought our bikes we were told to bring them back in a month to have them serviced for free. Other stores were asking ninety dollars for the service. I came back to the store to have my seat adjusted Mike stopped everything once again to help us without an appointment. I mentioned that when the wind blows my bike isn't very stable parked, he took my bike in the back and cut down my kick stand to make my bike more stable. I appreciate Mike's customer service and knowledge, everyone who works there seems to like their job. I would recommend shopping at Trek if you are serious about buying a good bike. I came here after going to three other local bike shops looking for THE BIKE for my ten yr. old boy. I was helped by Taylor who was stellar to say the least. I bought my Trek there a year ago and never found the time to take it in for my 30 day "tweak" and tune up. Took it in a year later and had it serviced within 15 minutes and ready to take home. The staff there is really helpful, especially, this guy robert who i guess is almost a pro? i am not sure. anyways went in to try and get my dad a mtn bike and we talked with him for over an hour on the bike. it was awesome cuz i just love talkin bikes. i got a killer deal for a tune up on my fuel ex 8. I got a full brake bleed, and full suspension tune up, as well as two new tires that are tubeless all for 150. try and find that at another store. plus they carry awesome bikes and if they dont have the part or bike they get it in asap. I recently called in for a new BB and the guy robert again had the BB waitin for me right at the counter and i was in and out of there in no time giving me plenty of time to fix my bike and get back to the important things, RIDING!!!! read more

My transaction with this store was over the phone as I am 3 thousand miles away. I needed a rare bike to be shipped to me here on the other coast and found Ian, the general manager, to be a very trustworthy, positive person with a cheery 'can do' attitude. They carefully wrapped the bike, which is a make that is hard to do, and a minimal amount of work was done here (by Trek dealer) to put the bike back into riding form. I'm so happy with my purchase and the service I've received at the Trek store. I worked with Robert on my road bike purchase. Having NOT ridden a bike since I was 12 years olds and completely clueless, I have to commend Robert on his patiences and the way he communicated the basics about road bikes. I found what I wanted online, read reviews, and then went to the bike store. The staff was very friendly in helping me find the right bike and geting the correct size. We picked this place because it was the closest bike shop near our home. We had a bike that needed a new chain and another bike with a couple of issues. unfortunately we didnt get the name of the guy that helped us, but he was a bike mechanic and he was AWESOME. he fixed the chain while we waited, he went to our truck to take a look at our other bike, and he helped entertain our two year old twins while we were there! Several months ago, I took my bike in because my chain was slipping on the rear cassette. The mechanic could see that both my chain and cassette were worn and suggested I replace them both. I wasn't convinced, so he agreed to replace the chain only and let me take it for a test ride up the hill behind the store. When I did and it still slipped, he replaced the cassette. Then he adjusted all the cables and brakes. He seemed very efficient and knowledgeable to me as he worked. Plus the price was very reasonable. I selected Trek in San Jose mostly for its convenient location close to my home and its promise of lifetime tune-ups. I wanted to ungrade my mountain bike, and I do not have any technical knowledge. The Sales Rep., Robert, spent a great deal of time teaching me about the elaborate equipment on the bike; he had to repeat this info. for my husband a week later. He was always polite and patient. Most importantly, he understood our specific needs and preferences. Once we placed the order, it only took three days before they had them primed and ready. We came into the bike shop very excited and eager to ride. The next employee to help us, Mike, gave us further technical instructions on their management and care. His attention to detail and efforts to ensure a great ride were deeply appreciated. I know we were impatient with him. I might even owe him an apology, but somehow he understood. They are so much fun and so incredibly easy to manuver. Upgrading from a $500.00 bike to a Trek 7 is an exhilerating experience. Riding against the wind has never felt so good. I still have a great deal to learn about as I break myself into the bike. (It does not require breaking in.) It feels so secure to know I have a whole team of knowledgeable people at my community bike shop to help me along the way. read more
