Ordered a bike for our daughter back in March. Was told it was coming from their Santa Clara store and should arrive within a few days. Since Covid happened it took 2 weeks. No big deal , left a few messages and emails like they suggested nobody ever responded. Again, not that big of deal since we got the bike. Fast forward to May ordered my son a bike online.. says in stock will arrive within a few days.. waited for 5 weeks. Finally comes in the bike is way to small, was told it was a teenager bike.. I went here to fix my bike break housing. I was talking to the tech person to understand pricing and what different options I have. But there was another employee that walk up and crack an awakened joke. It was annoying because it kind of dismissed my question. I had to ask again. I do not know anything about bike and hope to understand. Mainly to gauge what the best option I want to go about fixing my bike. Overall, I did get my bike fixed, and working fine. The service took about 2 days which is reasonable if they have a lot of bikes to fix. The prices are on the pricey side for repair. read more

I recently brought in my carbon road bike because I needed an expert to help me with assembling and tuning my Di2. Mike and Dalton provided excellent customer service and really gave me a good experience as a customer. Both were very knowledgeable and flexible with accommodating my request and made my ride very smooth! The store of this location was very nice and clean. They opened the door and greet you when you come. Everyone seems helpful and had a big smile when I first stepped in. This was my first time visiting and will be my next and future place to come when I need to do something with my bike. Also, their pricing is pretty reasonable compare to some other bike places that I had called to get similar things done. I went into the shop with a bike in mind but they didn't have it. I asked about if he knew of anything about other endurance bikes and he instantly starts talking about Trek benefits like a true salesman instead of answering my question... but I really wanted my Domane SL 6 So he told me I could pay 30% and they'd order, build, and have it ready, then I could test it and pay later. I agreed since the ETA was March 21st, only 2 weeks, cool! Today's the 28th so I called since I haven't gotten a single call or email. Without even so much as a sorry or thank you of any kind, all I got was "The item has been processed." That's all the information they had? That was on my receipt 3 weeks ago when I paid! Where the hell is it and why isn't it built and ready yet? "Well, it's just an ETA so we'll let you know." That literally didn't help at all and so now I'm in the dark, with no bike, and they didn't even charge me a legitimate 30% by the way. Just a random flat number that they didn't even specify with me at the time of transaction. Very "messy" unprofessional services here. I'll call again and update my review. If I have to wait another week and/or get no compensations or discount, I'll demand a refund and buy anywhere else but Summit Bicycles. read more

We came to TREK on a really spontaneous weekend when my husband all of a sudden said.... "Let's get ourselves road bikes, honey".... I'm like... "uhmm. Sure". We went to this store.. The guy who assisted us was Alex (i think)... and he took his time explaining to us what type of bike is best suitable for us.. It was from a Mountain Bike to a Hybrid Bike to a Comfort Bike...and the winner of it all.. Road Bike.... YES!!! we are so happy of our purchase. And we got a really good price and a good discount on the accessories and the bike itself. We were a few days early before their sale but he still gave us the discount. First off this location is not owned by Trek bikes, this is another Summit bikes shop so don't let the name fool you. Went in here looking for a Mountain bike. Sales person was decent but pushy. Their prices are some of the highest in the Bay Area. Found 3 other local shops within a 25 minute drive that were selling an identical bike for between $500 and $1000 less. Do your home work first. You can find way better deals else where. Just got a comment from management/ owner for my review... Sorry this will not change my review. I specifically asked your sales manager when I was at your location to match a local competitor's price and when it came down to making the purchase he waffled at the register and gave me a BS excuse why he couldn't. This is after I called and talked with an associate who said they'd match and honor a price. I'm upset because your customer service and employee's attitudes were terrible that day. I spent an hour and a half in your shop trying to work a deal let alone travel down from Alamo which was almost an hour drive. This place's product and labor is overpriced. $7 for a road tube? No thanks. $15 for Speedplay road cleats covers? Slough's or others charge $10. $70 to change a spoke? No. My experiences: I wanted a driveside spoke replaced and the wheel trued. They wanted to charge me for every step of the process, incl removing and reinstalling the cassette which takes only moments to do and the whole task will take a skilled tech maybe 15 minutes. Their price? $70. I took the wheel to Bici Bike instead. I wanted some Speedplay road cleat covers. The BMX-type kid behind the counter gave me some covers and I assumed they were what I asked for. Nope. I didn't check and didn't realize what I'd bought until I got home. So I go back to do an exchange for what I wanted in the first place only to be informed that the price on the product has been raised so now I'm paying more for the product I should've been handed in the first place, on my first visit. Annoying. Their high prices and lacking customer service might be forgivable if there was any personalization in their customer service but there isn't. Not sure I would buy a bike from these guys. read more

Went in the other day to get a new pair of gloves. I figured I would help support the local bike shop instead of buying online. As I am looking, I overheard the shop guy telling a guy that if he wanted the shop to replace the tube on his bike it would cost $15. I had to stop the guy. I told him I would replace it for him and teach him how to replace the tube himself if he bought the tire levers. No charge from me to teach him. He said that is a way better deal. So outside we went with his new road bike. I showed him how to change it as he did it himself in 10 minutes. Yeah I taught the guy in 10 minutes how to change his tube and your greedy guy said it would be a day for $15. If you are gonna offer that service, get real on costs on charge $3 in labor, you know it is nothing to change a tube or a tire. Don't be greedy. Because you got greedy I bought my new gloves at REI and saved $10 plus I got points for my next purchase. I will not be back and I will never buy a bike from you. Get your prices right. read more

I like the friendly staff here... sometimes they feel over friendly as once the store in-charge recommended to buy some thing online coz as per him the part was not worth that amount and a better option was available online. I would have given this place a lower rating, but I actually had a really good experience today. If you are coming here for a repair... guess you have to suck it up a bit. My experience is that they can be dicks sometimes. There is a guy that works back there that is never smiling and he just seems like he hates being there. I think people who have gotten their bike repaired here knows who I am talking about too. Dude, if you are working in a specialty store like a trek bike shop, you are doing something you love and is passionate about. Only recommended if you know what you want. The guy who helped me was a bit arrogant. I had to pry the information about the bikes out of him. But they had what I wanted at the right price and because I was tired of driving around to other stores, I purchased my bike here. If Hylands had what I wanted, I would probably have gone there since they were much more personable and freely gave out helpful advice. As promised, here's the update. I went to pick the bike up last Friday after I got a call saying it was ready. So far so good. I arrive around 6:15pm on a Friday (they close at 7pm) and soon get handed the bike. I notice the bar ends are missing, which after I pointed this out was rectified within 15 minutes. Then I get handed the bike again and ask where the cleats for the pedals are, they are soon located. Finally, I get handed the bike again and head out the door. So, it lost a star for the following reasons: - forgot the bar ends - almost forgot the pedal cleats - the explanation below The Main Explanation: These Trek guys go out of their way to make sure that any give bike is ready to ride, however, with tonight's bike I was adjusting: - saddle height - saddle angle - brake tension (well, I was trying to, no idea what devastation I might have caused) read more

Great customer service and quality bike service. I used to take my bike to Cupertino Bike Shop because they were a Cervelo dealer. I figure with rising gas prices to give the Trek Store a try since it was about a mile from where I lived. So I took my Cervelo S2 here to get some bar tape installed with specific installation requirements (I tried installing it myself but ends up looking worse than an ancient mummy). Sure anyone can install bar tape but how well can they do it and how cleanly can they finish the ends? I am using Lizard Skins and at almost $40, I definitely wanted it done right the first time. When I brought my bike in I was told that it might not get done until the following day because they're backed up, which is always fine with me as long as I am told upfront about it. To me that's usually a good sign that people are using them for bike service. If they're there twiddling their thumbs then obviously business is lackluster. Not sure who other Yelpers here dealt with but none of the staff I saw exhibited any arrogance or ignorance. I spoke to Kevin who is the mechanic there along with another guy Brian, who actually was the one who worked on my bike I was told, and was greeted by both with enthusiasm and awesome service. Both were very knowledgeable and a joy to talk to. When I got my bike back the next day as promised, the finished work had surpassed my expectations and I was very happy with Kevin's meticulous attention to detail. The logo on both bar plugs were perfectly aligned horizontally, the bar tape spacing perfect, the taped ends were professionally clean looking, and most importantly my specific instructions as to how far to tape the handlebar was followed to the tee. In addition, they gave me back the remaining bar tape and the original end plugs. Per my requirements, they only used half of the bar tape so inevitably there was going to be extra remaining, which was cleanly placed back in the original container. Awesome. Great job, Brian. No complaints whatsoever. Would definitely come back here for service and possibly even to buy a mountain bike. Thanks guys! By the way, I forgot to mention that the labor rate to install the bar tape was very, very good. Again, I am not sure what others mean regarding ripped off labor charges. If a business wanted to rip me off on labor, I would assume they would do it on something as easy as bar tape installation. They're near my house, so I was planning to go there for a tune-up and some other accessories. However, when I called on the phone they couldn't get me in for over a week (understandable but disappointing) and the person on the phone was rather abrupt and unfriendly (not understandable). From reading the other reviews it looks like they don't get customer service - they probably have some good people there but there are enough people who are not warm and don't serve customers that they're ratings are always going to suffer. This is the kind of place that Yelp was built for, so we can warn others and so that the shop can read the reviews and decide if they want to make changes. i ended up going to Hyland bikes and had a much better phone call and in-shop experience. Randall was a great-ish salesman. I felt like my concerns were heard and my questions answered. The day I went in to purchase the bike from him, however, there was a schedule change and Randall was not there. Forget the name of the youngster who sold me my ALR-5, but he did me pretty solid on discounting me where he could. Couple months later I bring her in for a tune. Not only did Joe talk condescendingly to me regarding chain maintenance, he started getting sarcastic with me about the cause of a bent cable housing. I may be a cycling newb, but when I drop 2 grand in a shop, I don't expect staff to be smart mouthed with me. On top of that, when I called him on it, he turned his back and walked away asking the next guy in back to finish up for him and then went somewhere in back... I'm certain to curse at what an A$$ I was... y'know, newb cyclist... the customer. So, no ownership for treating a customer poorly. This is the arrogant cyclist that makes it intimidating for others to wanna try a new sport. Welcome to California Joe, now go home! The gent that tuned the bike ended up saving the day by throwin' in the cable housing I needed, but Joe left me looking to drop my loot elsewhere. A cable housing! I went back a couple weeks later when I was I the area and told Mike about my disappointing experience. He said it was not the first time, that he would talk to Joe, and that he likes to handle problems to keep customers happy. I live in Gilroy and will make the extra drive to give my dough to the Los Gatos store. Sorry Mike, the rest of the shop seems alright, but there are principles involved here. read more

The Sales Manager & Sales people are good. But the Service guy, i hear sales people calling him Joe. He has some attitude problem. I took my bike for service, which they asked me to bring back in a month. He said, he will do nothing because i have no complaints. Then later after 2 weeks, i went for repair because i started hearing noise in the back wheel, the sales people acknowledged and said there is some thing wrong in wheel. But his guy Joe, said nothing its pedal making noise, and made me buy new pedals but didnt fix the noise problem. Then he blamed my weight, then the sales person really told him we got change the wheel on warranty. After 4 days, when i went to pickup, they didnt change the wheel, but tied all spokes with strap and thats it but it fixed the noise. read more

There were nice "fixie" bikes outside, which caught my eye. The service guy took a break from his bigger projects to help me immediately, and took care of me in less than 10 minutes. I came in to buy a single speed bike chain, bike tire, and tube. I ended up buying only a tube, because they don't carry cheaper parts. Normally, a chain may cost 8-12 bucks for a decent one. Their cheapest was $18. A tire normally costs $15-20 for a cheap one. Their cheapest was $30. I'm not saying everything is over priced. They just do not stock cheaper, more affordable parts. I was going to buy the chain too, but I was wondering if they could help me install the chain. I was pretty much their only customer, but they were too busy stocking new inventory to help me out. I just needed a chain tool, but they don't loan out tools. Not even if you were going to do it in the store. The guy offered to cut the chain down to fit the bike for me, but it would still be useless, because i can't put it on my bike with out the tool. Thanks for the offer, but no thanks. Tune Services received: Rusted hardware - NOT replaced Tune - done Accessory parts removed - NOT requested / NOT authorized / NOT communicated Sold new parts - N/A For the record, none of the "major" parts on the bike were damaged / corroded. It was a simple hardware replacement and a normal tune-up; neither of which are difficult to understand or execute. The only reason I didn't do this myself is b/c of lack of personal time (which is why paying your shop is, was, a matter of convenience, not necessity). I appreciate the offer to replace the removed parts and to train your staff on proper procedures and protocols. But I've found a better shop that already operates at this (minimum) standard without the additional iterations, touch points, headache, etc. read more

This review is a little late but long overdue. I went in two years ago to buy a new tube for one of my bike tires. The guys in there were 100% nice from the get go. From the moment I walked in it seemed like a warm atmosphere. They helped me inflate my tire and gave me good tips. I ended up spending more than I wanted but that was only because they sold me the proper equipment i needed for my bike ride that day. I would buy a bike from them anyday. read more

My wife & I both bought our road bikes here (2 for me, after I crashed the first one), and we've always gotten excellent service. When buying, they didn't try to steer us to the ultra-high end bikes, but got that we're semi-serious recreational riders, with fitness the goal more than racing. One thing we LOVE is that the bikes have lifetime tuneups included. Took ours in this week, and they tuned everything up, tightened cables, aligned derailleurs, and lubed all the key points -- no charge, and done essentially same day. Came in only for a minute so that my friend could get a tune up on his bike. It was doing some clicking thing. The guy replaced it and then we were on our way. What we should've done was test out the bike before we left because on the way home, he started hearing and feeling the clicking noise again. A previous time that my friend had a check up on his bike, one of the workers took the bike out into the parking lot and rode it around to make sure it was okay. My god! Have to say I had a great experience buying my wife's Trek 7.3 here. I was looking online for the best deal, when I saw that a third party site (bike exchange) showed it listed at a vey good deal. The bike was neither in stock nor was the price accurate according to Michael, but he honored the price anyway and ordered the bike from Trek. It was delivered a couple of days later. I have been in a couple of times afterwards and have had great conversations with the staff trying to learn more about road biking for myself. Although the prices aren't great in general, the store is well appointed and the staff is knowledgable and friendly. I will definitely be back in to look for accessories and other gear. read more

For one of my first visits to a bicycle shop, I was blown away by the great customer service! Richard helped me in my search for the right mountain bike. I'm not exactly the sporty outdoorsy type so I had no clue what I wanted. Richard was very thorough with listening to and analyzing my needs to find me a good match at a reasonable price. He asked me what I wanted to do with my bike, where I was going to take it, and my price range. He was able to show me some good alternatives. I loved how he was extremely knowledgeable about the types of bikes. He was also realistic and wasn't trying to sell me the most expensive bike (btw, some are in the 5k range .. for a damn bicycle! geez!) He also offered to let me ride it around the parking lot, hassle free. It was an enjoyable experience. After visiting other bike shops, I've decided he goes above and beyond the call of duty of selling bicycles. He really understands this stuff, it's a lifetime hobby for him, and you can tell how much he wants you to enjoy a bike for yourself. I was looking for a beginner mountain bike and they had some within a reasonable price range for a starter bike ($379 - $600). There were only about 2 that fit the bill so I wish they would have more variety for beginners. The store itself carries only Trek bikes (some are pretty pricey in the 5-7 thousand range so no thanks) and a lot of accessories and helmets. read more
