So this was my family's go to dim sum place in Mississauga until we discovered the fancy restaurants in Markham. It's one of the few places in Mississauga and maybe even the GTA that still does the carts. A fun tradition, for people who don't know, is being able to flag down a cart with your favourite dish as it rolls by. Sometimes a quick way to eat but also may take a while for you to get what you want If it's on in the carts. I recently went with some friends and the experience was decent. We surprisingly got sat down pretty quickly (it's very busy on the weekend, no online reservation, can call in for reservations for big groups) and there were lots of carts going around with food. Some things came out hot and others were a bit cold by the time it got to us. You can always order if you don't want to wait for the carts. The food itself was a bit of a hit or miss. Somethings were very tasty like the scallop dumplings and curried squid but others were a bit soggy like the har gow or cold like the fried taro. Service is like your typical Chinese restaurant, very busy, fast pace. Tea is always filled but can be a bit hard to flag down a waiter. It's a very big space and lots of family like to come on weekends for dim sum (I believe the carts are only offered on Saturday and Sunday) . We were a small group so we got seated immediately but some bigger groups (10+) had to wait 30+ minutes. So plan accordingly or try making a reservation in advance. A place we've been coming to off and on for a couple of decades. They've had great, amazing food and not so great. Lately, it's been the latter. The last few times we've been here they've been claiming cocktails are sold out and hard liquor doesn't exist, saying their whole drinks menu isn't valid (even though they hand it to us each time). The quality of food has gone downhill, the scallops nest tasted rancid (probably the oil), but the prices have gone up. The chow fun was great, but so expensive compared to other restaurants without elevating the dish further. The building continued to leak on me through the meal. Traditional, Authentic Chinese Food. Summit Garden has been serving the Mississauga community for many decades now, There was a period of time in the past when we did not visit due to declining food quality and service. However, over the past two years, we've been coming back more regularly to have dim sum, dine-in and take-out dinner options, and to dine with friends for special menu selections. Since then, service has improved greatly and the majority of service staff are pleasant and accommodating (with one exception). The dim sum ladies and head floor server provide excellent service. Summit offers traditional dim sum items in push-carts. The dim sum portions are of reasonable size and good quality. However, I would prefer a made-to-order dim sum option where you could mark your choices (perhaps an optional limited push cart could remain for more popular items on busy days). I find the push-cart selections are more limited than in past years. After the first couple of rounds, the same dim sum choices go round and round. The past couple of visits, there was no congee, stuffed eggplant and tofu, or other standard items you normally see. One of the server staff said that the congee would be pushed out - it never was on three occasions that we were there and she did not offer to check with other staff; one time we were fortunate that they made stuffed eggplant and tofu after we asked for it. It would also be good if they offered special fusion or non-traditional dim sum choices - that would be a differentiator to make them stand out against competitors. The dine-in menu has been excellent - regular favourites are Peking Duck - 2 course with Pan Cakes, Diced Duck/vegetables and lettuce wrap, Ginger Onion Lobster, Singapore Spicy Vermicelli, Beef Ho Fun (Beef with Rice Noodle in Soy Sauce), Snow Pea Pod Leaves with garlic, Sizzling Black Been Chicken, Special Pre-Order Suckling Pig, and Special Order Rice with Soft Shell Crab The special take-out menu package did not meet expectations. For some reason, the taste was not the same as dine-in. Perhaps it was a different chef looking after take-out that day. Overall, ambiance is good and the restaurant is large. Some of the prices are slightly higher than other restaurants, especially for fried noodles and rice dishes. Not all the prices on their Website are up to date. Portion sizes are fair. But Summit Garden still prevails and actually still pushes out dim sum carts for weekday and weekends! Good selection of classics here, so don't expect the modern fusion dim sum. We ordered the peking duck and had it served 2 different ways, and they were very delectable. All the other orders we had were also equally good. What does not sit well with me was the customer service I experienced. Right at the beginning as I was coming into the restaurant, I did not appreciate how rude the receptionist was. There was some sort of communication issue as I was explaining the fact that I am coming in with a group and that the people I am with already arrived earlier. The receptionist was quick to lose patience and then just asked for my proof of vaccination. It was unruly how the front desk person reacted. Top notch traditional Chinese Restaurant in Mississauga! My partner and I treated our family to a banquet-style dinner to celebrate our wedding. We met with Ming Lo months earlier to go over the menu. We were able to tweak it to our liking (adding extra dishes and changing dishes with/without extra cost) and go over fine details like drinks, deposits and what the final payment looks like. Ming Lo was very very upfront about all costs. The food was very good. I grew up in Markham and had my fair share of Chinese banquet style food and this was definitely comparable if not, better than some of the restaurants in Markham. The price was also very competitive. Everyone had a great time. Staff was attentive (Victoria was the best!) and the food flowed well throughout the night. read more

First time here. All the traditional dim sum dumplings were very good. The dumpling wrapper to filling ratio was excellent. The exception to this was the seafood dumpling in broth. The steamed dumplings were fresh and some were hot while some warmish. The deep fried dim sum offerings were fried a nice golden brown and fresh. In particular, the sesame seed balls and shrimp rolls were excellent. The rice porridge was thick and lacked the main ingredients but was satisfying. A couple times when I asked for a particular item and it was not available, the staff were very helpful and got it on order with the kitchen and got it to our table. The refill of tea pot was a bit slow and there were only about 3 wait staff for the entire restaurant. So it was a bit of a wait for service at times. There aren't many dim sum places left in the GTA that still have staff push around carts loaded with dim sum treats. Summit Gardens is still one of these Chinese restaurants. Located in a plaza at the northwest corner of Hwy 5 & Winston Churchill Blvd, you'll find a large but very busy parking lot. We were seated immediately. We watched as meal carts rolled by all the while staff announced what they had. Note to self: why were they all wearing latex/plastic gloves "but essentially doing everything (...like pushing carts...) and also handling food items?" Our whole meal consisted of 3 small ($2.80 per), 4 medium ($3.60 per), 7 large ($4.50 per), and 2 extra large ($7.65 per) totalling 16 items for $78.65 tax included. Summit Gardens gives complimentary tea so your saving at least 60 cents per person and I've experienced as high as 1 dollar; we have 7 in our party. The service and food was good. The decor was dated. Restrooms were clean. Now I paid using my credit card and chose to give the option for a 10% tip which the restaurant calculated the amount with the taxes included; that my fellow diners translated to an actual 11.30747% tip. Very sly....Many restaurants and services are doing the same thing but I didn't knowingly agree to tip on the taxes! Oh well, if staff get the tips, NO PROBLEM. If ownership gets this money, very sly and crooked. So overall, my review had several plus and minus of stars but I feel generous today. read more

I've been to Summit many times but found that the service, quality food and cleanliness was sub par and I could find different Chinese restaurants to go to that could provide all three of those qualities above so we stopped going here for years. Randomly, my family and I decided to go with some family friends because we figured that it's been years since we've been there and it must've gotten better.... NOPE. The waiters there are so rude. They tried to push the most expensive items onto us even after we kindly said no thank you. Then they ran out of tilapia and said they would be serving sea bass instead (which has a much higher mark up) and when we asked if they would adjust the price a) it was hard to get a straight answer from them and b) they said they wouldn't. It took over 30 minutes for them to bring one of the dishes so we had to take it to go. The plates and utensils don't seem to be entirely washed very well and the overall decor needs an upgrade. They brought us waters when we asked but didn't bring enough for everybody and we had to constantly ask for refills of tea and water. It took about three times to get them to bring enough water for everyone. It was extremely difficult to flag down a waiter to even get a bowl or anything. I don't find the general taste of this restaurant to be overly amazing but it's not bad either. But I'm not going to come to a restaurant where I feel like I'm not being valued as a customer just to eat mediocre food! To be fair, the only dish that stood out to me was the Peking duck. It was so tender! But the doughy wrap to duck ratio was so off and we had so much duck leftover but no wrap to put it in. When I asked for more wrap they said they would charge us $6. $6??? That's ridiculous. Same with the duck lettuce wraps. The ratio of duck to lettuce ratio was off and there was about 5 pieces of lettuce... there were 10 of us at the table! Staff was incredibly rude from the beginning ( we had to ask about 5 different servers for water and soy sauce.. each time they would respond with 'ya later' 'wait' or they would just completely ignore us.. finally one server brought us the sauce and water 20 minutes into our meal and was rude about it...service was very slow despite the high ratio of waiters to an empty restaurant. I found a hair in my dim-sum...Lastly there is what appears to be blood spatter on the ceiling... It's very rare that I don't tip but I left nothing because the service was so terrible... $60 bill for two people for a lunch with the worst service ever!! Definitely worth the hype. It had been years since I last visited Summit Garden. The last time I was here, it was for a press conference being held by the Miss. Arts Council being held in 2010, and my biggest memory of that event was hanging out afterwards with a couple good friends, then getting into an amusing moment where the communication coordinator's father showed up and she had to tell him that we weren't dating after he assumed I was her boyfriend. Good times... Anyway, it had been a while, but the opportunity arose to visit again, in the form of a ticket to a fundraising dinner being held to support a local non-profit conservancy in the heart of Mississauga. The first thing I noticed when I walked in is that this place was nothing like I remembered. The place I visited in 2010 had drab wallpaper all over the place and was so non-descript it hurt. This time around, the place was warm and inviting, with gumball machines in the lobby, plenty of light and a warm, friendly staff. My experience was unique in that, due to my position, I ended up eating at a separate table with the band that was playing that night, and we had a completely different menu (read: standard dinner options) compared to the guests at the actual dinner, who had a 12-course meal that was made specifically for this event. The upside to that caveat is that we were all able to try six different dishes, including beef short ribs, moo goo gai pan, sauteed beef with peppers and vegetables, fried noodles and beef, and more. This gave me a much better spread to judge, and the service was stellar, bringing more food without us even having to ask. What I also learned quickly about this place is that it's very solid venue for performances. The acoustics for the band that played sounded fantastic, and it was easy to hear the speakers even if you were on the other side of the restaurant. A minor detail that is much appreciated. If I have a downside about this place, it's that I'm not big on massive amounts of fried food, and I found myself having to refrain from pigging out due to a combination of my trying to eat healthier and the fact that a couple of the dishes (including the fried beef) almost tasted like they were smothered in grease. I understand that the specific fundraiser I attended has been running for 19 years, and that the owner goes to great expense (apparently even operating at a loss on this night, if what some of the guests said to me is true) to host and support the community. That is an admirable goal, and it puts this restaurant a cut above the other nearby places in my mind. In the end, Summit Garden is a very solid, inviting place that has a lot of food items to choose from, and it was definitely a solid venue for this event. Had to feed a craving for Beef with flat Rice noodle in Black bean sauce! So hubby gladly met me here for dinner midweek after work. Not too busy at 6:30 but tables quickly filled up! Ordered snow pea leaves in garlic sauce. Looked really fresh and that nice shade of green you expect when it's sautéed just right with a perfect sprinkling of Sesame seeds and some little dried flakes of garlic? Normally I find the service kind of nonchalant and lacking here but today the waitress was quite attentive coming back frequently to check if we needed anything else. Upon finding out I'm Korean, she seemed to endear herself to me --who knows, maybe she likes Korean dramas! That seems to happen a lot these days with the current obsession of all things Korean... I was a little disappointed with the Beef rice noodle dish as it didn't have enough sauce to cover the rice noodles. At least the green peppers weren't overlooked and still held a slight crunch. At the end of the meal, we were surprised by the sweet soup of papaya (looked like carrots to me) and a jelly like vegetable (maybe mushrooms?). I prefer the red bean soup most Chinese restaurants serve at the end but dear hubby says he prefers this type of dessert soup. I can pass... Honestly, the only reason we came here tonight was because Perfect Kitchen was closed (usually closed on Wednesdays) as we find their prices slightly higher than other Chinese restaurants and dishes slightly bland. Summit Garden Chinese Cuisine is an authentic Chinese restaurant on Winston Churchill Blvd and Dundas St in Mississauga. They have been in business for about 18 years, and have a reputation for being consistent with their food and service. I can definitely see the reason why they have been a successful for so long, as many of their diners are returnees with their family members. Summit Garden Chinese Cuisine's interior was spacious and rather stunning with its ornately decorated Chinese decor. Like several mid-upscale restaurants, Summit Garden has an open dining area that is also available for large parties, weddings, and private parties. The space allows diners to have an enjoyable and comfortable experience without being seated in a cramped space. Upon entering, we were welcomed by the hostess and seated at our reserved table. Due to the extensiveness of the menu, we decided to get recommendations from the owner, Kenneth Choi, who chose all of the following items for us to try. The extensive menu consisted of several traditional Chinese dishes, but they do have set meals as well. I would say that the set meals offer more of a value, and is highly recommended if you want to try more items. We started off with the Peking Duck; one of the most popular menu items at Summit Garden Chinese Cuisine. The Peking Duck was sliced table-side, and served with pancakes, sauce, and scallions as toppings. The pancakes came in a steamer basket with several ingredients as garnishes. The pancakes were rather big, and soft, which went well with the crispy and well-seasoned duck skins. Don't forget to pack the pancake with a piece of scallion and cucumber each to enhance the flavor. This was a great first course, and I was looking forward to the next few courses. As seen above, the Peking Duck was served in a traditional two course meal. First out was the duck skins with pancakes, and the second course was duck meat sautéed with vegetables to be eaten as a salad wrap. The portion was more than enough for two people, and arrived beautifully plated. One of the highlights of the night was the lobster, which was served Hong Kong style, where the lobster was fried and seasoned. I love seafood, so the Wok-Fried Jumbo Lobster (2 pounds) was quite an impressive feast. The lobsters at Summit Garden Chinese Cuisine was served Hong Kong style, but they modified it slightly. It wasn't the traditional fried lobster from Hong Kong. Rather, I was told that their version was more of a modified version, as they use deep fried fish as well to create a balance in flavor. The lobster here was not super salty, which I enjoyed! Additionally, the lobster meat was tender and succulent. There are some Japanese-inspired dishes on the menu including this Fried Japanese Style Tofu ($11.95). Japanese tofu is a popular Japanese appetizer that is often found in many restaurants and izakayas. Summit Garden Chinese Cuisine's interpretation of the tofu dish was not the traditional style. The environment is stale dated and the customer service is absolutely terrible. We arrive to an empty restaurant other than 2 other families, we were sat right in the middle. If you've been to summit you'll agree it's a large restaurant. I asked the manager if we can relocate, my mother is 65 years old and needs her space. The manager refused to move us. His reasoning was we only have a family of 3 and we're small, him being aggravated he picks up the tables and moves it closer to another family. I found this ridiculous. Being Mother's Day, my mom was dead set on their lobster dinner here. We ordered the Mother's Day special, this included Veal & Carrot Soup, BBQ Beef, BBQ Chicken, BBQ Pork, crispy half chicken, 2 pound lobsters and a fish dish which I can't remember the name. Overall for food portions, quality and price... It was okay, the lobster was over cooked, the BBQ dishes were over salted. My mom enjoyed which made me smile, that's what mattered to me. In the middle of our dinner, it started to get busier. We noticed the manager and an employee were arguing near the bar. If I understood Mandarin I'm pretty sure it was a lot of cursing. At one point, we thought the manager was going to hit his employee. The family beside us stepped in to tell the manager to calm down. Another family was recording this incident. And as I bit into a sio mai, I found this huge rubber label that found its way into the meat stuffing. I nearly checked on it. When I told the server, she gave me this annoyed look, and when I asked to speak with the manager, she barked across the room at some guy in the suit. He walked over and asked what is wrong. I nicely showed him what was found in the room. He responded saying..."so what do you want? " I was stunned. And he then said, do you want me to take it away? I'll cancel the order. Good, consistent and authentic dim sum that's close to Oakville. I've been here (only for dim sum) a couple times and I've been impressed. It's rolled around on cart here and you just stop the waiter if you want an item. I can't think of anything they are missing on their dim sum menu. If you come on a weekend it's best to arrive before 11 because otherwise you might have to wait to get a table. The service can be a little slow (we waited a while to get a tea refill) but other than that I have no complaints! read more

Lots of variety, such as (please forgive any spelling errors) har gao, sho mai, egg tarts, almond jello, crab claw, etc. On weekends, they also have a really good coconut roll thing. They also have a menu to order from if you're not interested in dim sum. It gets really busy sometimes (especially weekends), so good to go early, especially if you have a large group. Or they also do reservations. Service isn't very friendly or attentive. Sometimes takes a long time to get anyone's attention - even just for a simple glass of water. Summit Garden has been around as long as I can remember. As a kid, I would look forward to having this special Chinese food that was different than what was cooked at home. It is a full service restaurant that is big enough to fit hundreds of people and it is very popular for special events such as weddings, Chinese new year, mother's day, etc. Perhaps it is best known for dim sum on the weekends, as it is one of the few places around here where the ladies still push the carts. Arrive early or be prepared to wait! Quality of food is very good but consistency does wane every now and then. We noticed they skimped a bit on the vegetables last night so I guess they are feeling the effects of the dollar too. The menu is extensive and easy to get lost in, so if you're trying it out, the set dinners are a safe bet. Service is usually efficient and the friendliness will go up and down depending who you get. There is one particular jovial waiter who is all smiles and jokes around every time. Most staff have a Cantonese base with some Mandarin and/or English. Many Chinese and non Chinese eat here, so don't be intimidated. They are experienced in providing whatever you need if you are dining with children. Bathrooms are somehow always wet everywhere and in line with usual Chinese restaurant bathroom expectations. One of the sinks in the men's room has only boiling water so be careful. I'll start off with the good because there is only 1 bad thing about this place so I gave it a 4/5. The food is always fresh and the quality is amazing especially for Mississauga. It's authentic and just delicious. Price is fair and understandable which makes it worth it. Location is convenient and the interior is like any Chinese restaurant. The bad: we always go during dim sum and the people who push the carts especially the young men that work there are SO nice and patient and always provide really good service. Especially for a Chinese restaurant where service is shotty these young men really were good at costumer service. HOWEVER the women who take the orders for the table like drinks and stuff from the menu are actually terrible. There was this one with red lipstick she had the worst attitude I've ever had and threw around our food on the plates like they weren't even flat on the table because she would throw it and when we asked for water and hot sauce politely she was like can you be patient? She said that word for word. I can't even imagine why she would want to be a server with an attitude like that. We only gave a 7% tip because of this and she complained loudly to the cashier lady in front of us. Honestly disgusting.
