We like Summit Grill, but find the quality of the food to be hit or miss. For example, on a recent visit, my salmon was so dry it was inedible and my husband's salad had barely any dressing. They did bring me a new meal, but it took 20 minutes and then rice was dry and cold. My husband had to ask three times for the dressing. No explanations were given and there was no offer to reduce our bill. I don't think we will be back. I don't mind paying a premium price for premium food, but don't want to pay their prices for a disappointing meal. read more

We decided to eat out at the Summit, (On a Friday night, no less). I had previously read about their happy hour. The menu is quite good for Happy Hour. We went into the restaurant, took a seat in the bar area.It was so freaking loud, we asked to be seated in the restaurant, bypassing the noise and menu of Happy Hour. The restaurant side is dark (a little too dark). I had my mom with me and she needed to use my iphone flashlight. The service was spot on. I ordered the cheeseburger, then spied the creme brullee. So after finishing the cheeseburger, which was delicious, I ordered the creme brullee. A cheeseburger is just a cheeseburger. It was huge and I have no idea how I ate the entire thing, maybe I didn't. It was delicious, and I totally suggest it. The creme brullee was near perfect. I'd go back in order to get it again. It is served with fresh blueberries and whipped cream. It is presented beautifully. Literally the only flaw I found with Summit was the darkness of the dining room and the noise of the bar. read more

Two of us Ordered the Happy Hour ahi tuna which consisted of too much slaw and tasteless tuna. We did not eat it. Always enjoy Summit, but as mentioned in previous years, the outside seating area is filthy. The fountain is dirty and smells like a sewer & landscaping needs attention. Love summit grill for brunch, lunch or dinner. One of the better local restaurants in the north land. Cocktails are on point and the wine list is fairly impressive. They do a great job operating during COVID. Tables are 6ft apart and proper sanitation is used. Paper menus are thrown out after use or they have a bar code to scan and pull up the menu. As always the food is delicious! Great service every time! read more

Incredible dining experience today. Service was polite, down to earth but, still professional. Our waiter's wine recommendation was on point as well. The Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc was heavenly. Atmosphere: happy hour gets a little crazy. Packed and loud. The other side of the restaurant for diners, is quiet and dimly lit. It's like the restaurant has two completely opposite sides. I prefer the quieter side. Leather booths, mood lighting - it's just nicer. Service: I give them an average rating simply because they seem to be understaffed. We had two other servers helping our server because there were so many customers. Our server seemed a little stressed and rushed. Steak knives were also not given with our steaks. My husband had to get up and ask for them. Not okay. Food: I had the filet and my husband had the KC strip. Honestly, my steak was phenomenal. I like my steaks medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. Melt in your mouth good. Just like any top steakhouse. Simply delicious. No complaints! The food makes everything worth it. read more

Great brunch experience with the family for Memorial Weekend here in Lee's Summit. We had a reservation for 10:30am on Saturday morning, and we were immediately ushered to our table once we stepped through the doors. Our server was excellent - catering to each and every request our large party shot his way. The food was good, and above-standard for what you'd expect at a local American Bar/Grill. I had one of the more (relatively) adventurous offerings on the menu - a mason jar full of jalapeno cheese grits, breakfast sausage, and bacon, topped with a fresh poached egg. I was surprisingly impressed by how well the distinctive flavors of spicy, salty, and creamy worked together. The only downside to our experience - and it was substantial - was an overwhelmingly unpleasant scent that hung about the air in the patio/bar area where we were seated. It smelled heavily of sewage, and it was certainly off-putting to our party to say the least. Ultimately, the service & food at Summit Grill was more than enough to make up for the stinky atmosphere. My wife and I recently had dinner at Summit Grill. Positives: Nice decor Good service Excellent hummus appetizer that had a little spice to it and included bread and veggies. They have the best Mothers Day brunch in town. Lunch is a good value. I have always been happy with lunch. Negatives: The bar is extremely loud and ruins the ambiance of the restaurant side. The rib eye that I ordered was cooked correctly but was a gristle filled low quality cut. Definitely not worth the $30+ price tag. Basically a joint for hanging out and drinking. The food is really hit and miss. They had a shrimp and grits that was the worse thing I've ever had at any restaurant, period. The "steak" street tacos where made with friggin' roast beef. Waitress said she had asked the kitchen several times about the "steak" and was told "Yep, it's steak". It is ROAST BEEF, which they have on the menu in two other forms. The fish tacos were okay, but the slaw was over abundant and an odd mixture to me, including bell peppers. Okay drink selection, but sort of surprised no Riegers and no Martin City (I know it's lee's Summit, but really). Sundy brunch for a Birthday was a flop! Food came out with cold eggs and a poached egg that was embarrassing! Asked them to take care of it and of course they didn't. Not sure they were interested in providing a quality meal for the value. It was just a restaurant that has lost it's way for providing great value and service. As for the meal, we ate the Calamari, cooked very well, Husband loved his Prime Rib, my Ribeye was perfect, daughter ate all her chicken strips, our meal includes deep fried breaded mash potatoes, and lovely asparagus! I have been here thousands of times. Tonight I went to the restroom and a male and female came into the stall next to me and engaged in sexual encounters, right next to me. A child and mom came in to wash thier hands. I let the staff know what was happening. Multiple females entered and escorted the perverts out in front of the entire bar. (A male and female) I was very upset. Renee was terrible from the beginning slamming beers down and having an overall bad attitude. No one acknowledged me about the situation. Just ignored the fact that I experienced this. Then I asked management to come out and was way worse. "I didn't know" "it wasn't my fault" "I didn't know you were still here"I sat in the same seat for hours after I reported it. poor excuse for management and inclusiveness. We frequent the Summit Grill about twice/month for a nice evening after work with some drinks and nice appetizers. Never again. Normally, everything is fine. But we discovered tonight that if you're black, you can get free food and free drinks. We sat down, ordered our stuff (one of which was a Reuben Sandwich). At some point, a nice-looking, middle-aged black couple sat beside us at the bar. Nothing out of the ordinary. This was AFTER the happy-hour time after we came in and certainly after the black couple came in, but the bartender mistakenly gave them a Happy Hour menu with discounted drink prices, so the bartender felt "obliged" to give them the discounted drink prices. Following that, my +1 was served her Reuben sandwich and we overheard the black "gentleman" say that he "didn't know it was going to be so large." This was a good bit after they had ordered their food. The bartender told them it was already ordered and the kitchen was making it so it's ok, and they'd take it off the bill and they could go ahead and receive and eat the food. In addition, another server had an order that wasn't claimed so they gave that to the black couple also. Of course, I'm only vaguely paying attention to all this and at some point become slightly annoyed and ask the bartender, who had just brought our bill, what I have to do to get on the "free food" list also. He responded with a muffled, "wouldn't that be nice." I didn't really expect he, as only a bartender, would have much to say about it, but I definitely wanted it known that I witnessed exactly what was going on. So, here we go. Another Hereford House situation where, some people of the right color, know how to get free food and drinks, and nobody from the restaurant can say "no" to them. I guarantee if I had asked for the Happy Hour menu after sitting down, I would have been told that it was too late. But, if you're the right color, it seems, Happy Hour can be whenever you want it to be. Regardless, this is more of the same old crap. These places are so afraid to say no to a POC. Meanwhile, other patrons are ordering their items, paying full price without the benefit of black privilege. No thanks. Never going there again. If you are black - go in there and get everything you can for free. Order everything you want, and then within 10 minutes or so, just claim there was a "mistake" or a "problem" and the ol' Summit Grill will take it off your bill and bring you the food/drinks anyway. Times are tough. Take full advantage. read more
