Not too sweet, not week, but not too strong. I ordered the Baja Fish Tacos, I must say, best decision of the weekend!!! Very filling and the grilled tilapia was cooked perfectly. My husband ordered the teriyaki salmon bowl. He said it was very good, and looked fabulous! We came up from Tulsa for the weekend and are so happy we tried Coach's Bar & Grill- on135th! It was a warm day - finally! We sat on the rooftop & it was pretty breezy but still good. Burger was really good, house-made chips were fabulous! The Cubano sandwich was also really good! Pot pie tasted great but was a little thicker-crusted than I would prefer. Nice lunch though. Drinks were good, including apple cider mule. Ambiance was good, it was a lovely afternoon for the patio. Never coming back though. Both the blue cheese and cream cheese burgers were unseasoned. I NEVER grab the table salt to season food, but it was the only way for the burgers to have any flavor. The fries also didnt have any salt on them. Who doesnt love soggy unseasoned fries!? Best part was the hair in my food. Our waitress was very kind and attentive, even though it seemed like she was the only one that was handling our table in a couple of others the food was delicious especially coming from somebody who has stomach issues, I went home and didn't have any problems! Oct 4, 4:15 - Not impressed. We hadn't been for a while but were in the area at Husker Football time so we had to stop. At first I thought the bartender was just being efficient but soon realized she just didn't want to be there, or something. She came to take our initial order but we had to call her back every other time. Food was okay (not great), we had nachos and chicken fingers. We didn't get the sauces we asked for and of course had to flag her down again. She never asked about anything or offered any condiments, etc. Glad to see the Huskers on most TVs and there were a couple good ol' guys at the bar so that was good-they also had to ask for service each time. Bar was empty and we sat with empty beers for a while so we just left, we'll find somewhere else to watch the game. Highlight: *Outstanding* rooftop patio! When weather allows, Coach's is one of the preeminent sunset viewing spots in central JoCo. But on any given day, it's also a great place to gather and enjoy. The lower levels inside are expansive and comfortable, with a big bar seating option, and the top level just knocks it out of the park. Given the proximity to the Blue Valley sports complex, there's a fair chance you'll see families with hungry little sluggers dining and spending that precious time together. Who doesn't love a chance to share chicken strips and laughs with those closest? The fare is good but not great, and if there were half-stars to give, then this would be the only knock. Standard bar & grille options are all over the menu with some unique twists, such as The Royals, an appetizer of loaded baked potato bites rolled into balls, breaded with panko, and fried. The salad options (from 'The Rough' section) are varied and the portions are enormous. Check the specials, too, because Coach's generally has something good going on and the friendly service staff is more than eager to share that menu. Pricing is pretty equivalent to the surrounding area and parking shares space somewhat with the strip center neighbors. But if you're waiting out a rain delay or just want to meet friends and family for a drink & more, then Coach's is a great choice in the Leawood/OP area. read more

Very mediocre for me. I ordered take out and she was very nice - service was up to par! Sports bar vibe with football on the TVs around the bar area. I ordered the chiefs wings (didn't get much flavor) and a side of sweet potato fries ($7 for a side...) and it was a huge side so I just accepted the high price but they were SO overly salted I couldn't even enjoy them. I'll start by saying they were able to accommodate our group of nine on a Saturday night very well. The staff was cordial, got us in quickly, and the food came out very fast. All of the orders were accurate so I will give them props for all that. Unfortunately, the food was not as enticing. We got the mozzarella sticks and fried zucchini as an appetizer. Most of the group ordered burgers for dinner. I tried many of them and they were over cooked and under seasoned Those who got sandwiches were equally unimpressed. This is one of my favorite local places to stop! The food is really good, and the service is always great. They have an amazing rooftop (when it's not too cold, windy or hot). Close to the soccer complex next door, so there can be times where there are a bunch of kiddos in there, but they aren't allowed unsupervised on the roof after 730pm, and usually the bar is full of locals. Always meet interesting people there, and John the bartender is the best! :) read more

Came here after a morning filled with adulting, it was a beautiful afternoon so we sat outside. We both felt like having burgers so this was a good spot. The burgers are huge that I can never finish it in one sitting, my husband liked his chicken burger too. The fries and chips were perfect too. Overall great experience with a larger group (~10 people). Reserved the fire pit area a month or so ago, had to move inside day-of due to rain. Hostess called me around 11 am day-of to inform me of new indoor location, table was set upon arrival, servers were quick to start apps and drinks. Service is friendly and prompt. As soon as I came through the door, staff was to the right and readily attentive. Environment is classic American sports bar, TVs are seemingly at every angle, prices upon menu are seemingly quite reasonable, the only difference is this place is well kept. The coaches set-up is really nice! Especially their rooftop patio. They have a few fire pits as well, but unless it's a particularly chilly evening, it might be too much heat! We had them turn it back off after 15 minutes. Phew! I will rave up and down about the drink I got!! I loved the SALTED PRETZEL WHITE RUSSIAN!! With screwball peanut butter whiskey, kahlua and cream, I felt like I was drinking a bit-too-sweet candy bar. Sooo good! The food was all between a C- (bland nachos) and a B+ (Buffalo chicken dip, a big greasy but good). None of it was worth writing home about. But the service was good! Thank you Coaches! I was impressed by the spacious and nice rooftop patio area (with background music - not too loud, TVs, and at least one fire pit), the great variety of delicious foods, the attentive service, and the value priced two for one wells, calls, and house wines during happy hour (3-6 pm M-Th), so each glass of my chardonnay was just $2.50. They also offer daily food and drink specials. My Carolina style pulled pork sandwich with choice of side ($9.50) was served with a smile (along with two other orders at my table) just nine minutes after we ordered. The sandwich was over 2.5" high, with a generous portion of tasty pulled pork and cole slaw on a fresh bun. The server is so rude. We sat upstairs and waited forever for service or even menu. the first thing before introducing herself or asking how we were was are you guys of age and I was like I'm 18. She said we have to be 21 to sit upstairs after certain time. Rudely said "it was posted twice on your way up" like girl it says no children... are we all children until 21? Make the sign clear then. She was tall and blonde and couldn't smile. She was stomping around. IM DISAPPOINTED do better tell your servers to go home if they 1 are having bad day or 2 are just unkind to customers. One of the better rooftop bars in OP! Coach's has a large rotating selection of taps, a huge menu, and a fun sports bar vibe. This place is always busy with youth sporting events in the area, and they do a good job of getting people in and out. They always have daily specials and have nearly every game you could imagine on the TVs. Top tier sports bar in my opinion. read more

We tried Coach's yesterday. I was so hoping it was going to be a new regular spot for us. But every plate was plain. Mushroom Swiss burger tasted like canned mushrooms with no seasoning. The pork tenderloin was ver plain and on a long bun. My son said his Buffalo chicken sandwich was bad and that boy eats almost anything. We wanted to sit on the patio... but it was closed. Fair, it is January and it probably isn't enclosed or the heater is broke. We wanted to sit in a booth. "None are available" said the hostess... okay... then why is it that when you lead us to a bar top table was there an empty one in the corner? Did you mean "there are none available for two people"? Then my pregnant wife said she couldn't sit that high. I went to ask the hostess for something lower for her and the hostess's first response was no... as I looked at a lower table just to her right that could sit 6. Perhaps again she meant, "no, not for two people"... then she must have seen where I was looking or her brain registered "pregnant wife"... and she offered to sit us at the table. I suspect she has guidelines that the restaurant should relax. It was a little busy, but my wife is pregnant... and about due. The burger was okay... but hardly tasted like an $11 burger. Better than average bar food and a full bar with a great upstairs outdoor balcony. This place is likely going to be packed in the evening, so get here early or call ahead. Best sports bar in the area. If you want a good burger, they have it! But if you want a little more than a typical sports bar, they have that too. After spending a couple years at "BrewTop" down the road (don't waste your $$ there) - Coaches is now the only sports bar we visit in the area. Hands down better than any other in EVERY area. Food, atmosphere, service, etc.... They have hired an amazing staff who help each other and treat everyone in the place like their business is important and appreciated. I'm a big fan of coaches! Specifically, I love the outdoor patio upstairs and the beer options. My sister and I frequent the patio on our days off. During the lunch hour on weekdays, there's never a wait for a table and the service is always quick. We usually split on of the salads because they're huge and delicious. We usually go with the chicken pecan or the Santa Fe. They both come with some sort of delicious cinnamon roll thing. So. Good. There are usually lots of craft beer options and several on top! I'd call Coach's a "sports" bar & grill, as they have many TV screens, and all have been tuned to sports whenever I've been there. I'm not much of a sports fan (unless the Royals are in the World Series), but I give Coach's credit for including women's sports...the last time I was there they had the women's collegiate gymnastics tournament on at least one TV. It is a pretty noisy place, what with cheering or groans from the sports fans added to normal bar & grill noise. I like that you're greeted as soon as you come in the door. Ask to be seated in one of the rooms away from the bar area if you want a (relatively) less noisy spot. There is nothing fancy about the decor, but the booths are quite comfortable, and there is also a great rooftop deck with a fire pit, and a large room that could be booked for a group. Their friendly wait staff is very good at answering questions about the food. And the food is the real reason I'm a "fan" (4 stars) of this restaurant. Their menu is extensive and varied enough that anyone could find something they'd like. From my first visit, I've been hooked on their sweet potato fries. Upon seeing someone else's order, and short of asking a complete stranger for a fry (which I was sorely tempted to do, since an order costs $7), I had no choice but to order my own! To lessen the sticker shock, let me add that an "order" is plenty large enough to share with several friends! I asked for "extra crispy" fries, and they arrived perfectly cooked, and dusted lightly with cinnamon and sugar (don't knock it till you've tried it...seriously), but I'm sure they can be ordered without. I HIGHLY recommend the Pulled Pork Tacos. The pork is smoked, which gives them an amazing flavor. Most people love Coach's Baja Fish Tacos, which are good, but comparatively, the pork ones are are outstanding...one of those tastes you can't stop thinking about. Their salads look fresh and very good too, although I've yet to try one. My fellow diners have always liked whatever they have ordered, but just those two items (sweet potato fries and the pork tacos) are what have made me a repeat customer. BTW, this location is set back off of 135th Street, behind other buildings, and you can easily miss it if you are trying to find it ON 135th. My GPS had me driving in circles to get to it. It is just west of Antioch on 135th, but you have to turn south on to Grandview (on the west side of the restaurant) to get back to it. read more
