No one apologized or offered to help reschedule. In fact, it felt like they were more pleased to turn us away than disappointed to miss the chance to care for our pet. The interaction was cold, unhelpful, and frankly uncomfortable. If this is how they treat people, it's hard not to wonder how they treat the animals in their care.

What was especially frustrating was that there was no follow-up phone call or email from the veterinarian afterward to discuss my pet's care, answer questions, or check on recovery. The lack of communication felt dismissive and gave the impression that there was little interest in addressing my concerns or discussing the care that had been provided. Despite multiple requests for follow-up, days passed without meaningful communication or updates. I also had concerns regarding billing. I received multiple invoices with different amounts and charges that did not consistently match, creating confusion about the final cost of services. Despite repeatedly raising concerns about both the billing discrepancies and the medical care provided, those concerns have still not been adequately addressed. I continue to have unanswered questions regarding the charges, as well as questions about the procedure itself and what was done, and I feel my concerns have largely been ignored rather than resolved. What was most disappointing was the lack of compassion, accountability, and transparency when concerns were raised. There was no meaningful effort to address the ongoing billing questions, explain the procedure in detail, or ensure that my questions were answered by the veterinarian. This is my second experience where first they wanted to put down my 1 year old kitty who was having urinary problems. I kept asking why they weren't starting him on antibiotics? It was almost like they were setting him up for failure (death). They didn't care or listen when I told them I was a Pharmacist and had better recommendations on medication choices. I kept taking him every other day as his condition was worsening and they only kept adding stronger pain meds without identifying and treating the root of the problem. It made my parents sick to hear their suggestion of putting my cat down on the third visit. They didn't have the heart to even tell me that. So, my mom called all of her friends and found a "hero vet" who saved my cat's life. He actually DID start antibiotics and other meds to help with urinary flow and some pain meds to keep him comfortable. He also recommended a wet urinary diet and Calm Probiotics to be mixed in his wet food. We kept him on the meds for a month and he continues to eat his urinary diet. My baby is a healthy 4 year old now. I can't stand the horrific practices at VEG San Ramon. And now just the other day, they put down my friend's cat who was only 6 years old. Again, they couldn't diagnose or identify the problem so they suggested euthanasia. I feel there's a huge conflict of interest in their treatment of our sick pets and their push to get mildly sick pets euthanized and then cremated. This is sadly a scam business. I was so happy when they first opened because I felt a sense of relief having a 24/7 emergency vet nearby. Little did I know their ruthless practices would bring so much pain to pets and their parents. Please don't trust them with the health and wellbeing of your fur babies.

We opted for a plan that included annual teeth cleaning, twice a year vet visits, included vaccines and more. While we haven't been thrilled with a couple of past experiences of making appointments to either have to change them or wait because schedules had changed, we have and continue to be very happy with the Technicians and the Veterinarian, Dr. Haxby. Time will tell whether or not the Wellness Plan is a good value. Based on fees for individual services, it should be.
