This place is great for vegetarian/vegan options…read more A bit disappointed that my lavender latte did not have the lavender flower, instead had buds. The biscuits were good - not heavy but not necessarily too airy and dry which was perfect. The jam that goes with this was perfect - not overly sweet. The butter was your usual butter - I felt this could've been saltier or richer in flavor, having exploring Hokkaido butter in Japan. I recommend the mushroom calamari - not too salty like a chip or those veggie snacks you buy in store. This was paired well the creamy side sauce and was not too crispy. Located by Venice beach, this brunch place can get crowded on weekends and restrooms can have lines. Regardless, considering the optimal location by other walkable shops, it's a great date or hang out spot.

I ordered the huevos rancheros and they asked me if sunny side up eggs were ok and I requested over easy if possible. They served sunny side up eggs to me (not a big problem, but why even ask?) I also don't like that they serve hot lattes in those plastic water cups (first of all, that looks cheap like did you run out of mugs? Second of all that means these cups are too hot to hold for a couple minutes!) When I visited the WeHo location, I remember liking my latte (that was served in a mug), so I was pretty disappointed. Also just anything hot in a plastic container makes me feel weird consuming. Also justice for those sitting on those tiny stools, because not only are they tiny, but you're in the busy aisle so people are always bumping in to you! Wish I had a chair with a back. One good thing was that this place doesn't rush you when you're seated and finished eating, which I really appreciate! They let us sit and yap for awhile when lots of other places try to get more tables open. Overall, it's a cute place, but I'm never excited to go when this restaurant is chosen lol.

The vibe is casual and beach chic. All of the food is delicious and this is one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. The restaurant has very few parking spaces on site. The only downside is that the paid parking is ridiculously expensive. Anywhere from $10 to 15 minutes to an hour, $20 for two hours and the price goes up and up. There is one hour metered parking nearby which isn't very convenient if you have to keep going back to refill the meter. If you're lucky you might find distant street parking that is unpaid. This is nothing against the restaurant, but as Venice as a city in general. High prices like these without any special validation, are sure to keep people from coming to these places at all if you can't afford it. Perhaps that's how Venice would like to keep it. Only people who can afford the parking are allowed to enjoy these businesses.

The ambiance was very chill California energy (I'm from New York lol), which I loved. The decor also was giving spa vibes in a good way. Byredo hand soap in the restroom, okayyyy! My server Joshua was super friendly and attentive, appreciated his good energy. Breakfast menu had a lot of delicious sounding options but I went for the breakfast burrito with hot sauce and it was fantastic. Breakfast burritos are very hit or miss IMO and this was a hit. I also had two cappuccinos bc I am a caffeine fiend and also jet lagged and they were both very good. Highly recommend to anyone in the neighborhood. I just realized they have other locations throughout LA too which I'm sure are also good but this one did not disappoint at all.

I wasn't sure I would like it or not, but I can tell you I ended up eating it all. It was awesome, every single dish! I'm going here again...even without her haha! We started with the focaccia which was delicious, although it tastes different than what gluten made focaccia tastes like. It was very light and crisp, not as rustic as regular gluten made, and even more enjoyable with the spiced olive oil that accompanied it. As an appetizer we tried the fried stuffed squash blossom with minted ricotta. OMG!! That was SO incredibly tasty! We definitely want that again... and we will later Today! I had the pasta Bolognese and my friend had the fish and chips which we shared and we both loved each of them. The fish was so crispy and delicious and it came with gluten-free fries which were also awesome. We had two glasses of wine which we loved, and we were very impressed with our server, Cameron, who is obviously an expert on their impressively large wine collection. He is a legitimate wine connoisseur. I asked a couple of ridiculous questions, yet he answered them so politely with his highly knowledgable answer. He was such a wonderful SOMM as well as a very friendly and personable server... with a wonderful sense of humor. So. I want people who are not gluten-free to know it's good to try to try this place. Everything is not only tasty but beautifully presented and the room is so cozy. If you're worried about trying gluten-free don't be. I asked Cameron's opinions on the food and I'll tell you he did not steer us wrong. Highly recommended by both of us; My friend with Celiac disease and myself who professors to be 'normal' (not gluten free). Oh.. we could not fit in dessert, but are very sad not to have been able to. There was a a beautiful display of luscious looking desserts that we will also have to go back for tonight, we must try to make room for one this evening or at least take a couple to go. Enjoy it!

I believe it was Daria (not sure if I spelt that correct) was my server who took the time to explain some of the amazing features. She suggested I sit at the bar as I was alone in business and introduced me to the bartenders. Being Canadian she made it a point to one of the bartenders that liked hockey and introduced me. I was impressed with her knowledge of the various entree's so I asked her to pick my main and whatever drink she thought would go great with it. I couldn't have had a better meal as I don't normally order fish but the pan seared sea bass. Pescado Zarandeado was amazing. Cooked perfectly and paired with a hibiscus margarita that was on par with the meal. Thank you to the kitchen and owners along with the 2 servers behind the bar and Daria for such a great experience. I liked it so much I came back a few days later for tacos which were also amazing. The service was great again even though it was a very busy evening. They're bigger, so you break them apart to eat. We also ordered the tacos, since it was taco Tuesday and cinco. I ordered the barbacoa and tinga tacos. They were messy. Why not sample the menu in all of its glory, as well as order a little something, each of us like?! After all, it was my first time dining here! The interaction with staff to either just receive a smile or ability to ask questions about the food/processes goes a long way- especially in this digital dominance era. Though, the staff of the space (not Talo) were friendly. There is one female (didn't catch her name but she's a petit brunette ) that was great! So The Colony did well at hiring job at hiring her. 2. Second critique- lack of flavor. This is the reason for the minus one star. Please don't offer tacos if the food isn't going to have the delicious flavor and spices that Mexican cuisine has. The meat was under-seasoned and lacking the complex mix of ingredients not only in the meat but also the salsa. The salsa also had a off texture. If you take on a culture's food, and you are not of that heritage, please please please master the flavor. Or create dishes of your own heritage that better represents the flavor of the plate so consumers aren't misled on what to expect - flavorwise. Other than that, love & appreciate everything else about this business. Especially after googling them and seeing more of their business operations and values. From the quality of the ingredients - organic, grassfed, seed oil free- to the minimal plastic exposure. Really appreciate it. The price point, considering the quality of ingredients, is fair. I hope as they grow, they can also offer counter orders as opposed to just relying on tablets as well as fine-tune the seasoning of their food.
