A nice little breakfast and lunch café attached to the AMLI apartment complex. I live walking distance away, so can't speak to parking however when we arrived at around 10 AM on Saturday morning, it was pretty crowded. They have a few tall counter seats inside, however most of the seats are outside, but during our visit, every table was taken so we had to get our items to go. The service is really fast and and the server behind the counter was polite. However, I'm giving four stars due to the lack of options on the menu and the high pricing. I had breakfast at a restaurant about half a mile away the day after and it was actually less expensive than this little café. We got a breakfast burrito, avocado toast, and two lattes, and it was almost $60. This place is more designed as a quick to go option and should not be seen as somewhere with a full service sit down type of experience. You place your order at the counter and they call your name and then you are on your own. It is in a very pretty location and very close to the beach so that will factor into the pricing. For our visit, we chose the Braised Beef Breakfast Burrito, which I thought was pretty nice although it was more watery than I like, and I think it would've been better if there would have been Carne Asada, and perhaps the eggs were added too quickly because it was just more liquid in there than I expected. The Avocado Toast was honestly great and the Beekeeper Lattes that we got were fantastic, one of the better oat milk lattes I've ever had. Overall, I would recommend if you are in the area and I plan to be back in the future to try more items. read more

Really great spot! Popped in here for a quick bite between meetings in the area and ordered the OG Breakfast Burrito. It was super tasty, loved the quality and freshness, and the side sauce they give you for it. Also it was a beautiful day to sit outside and the area was clean and well maintained. DO NOT BUY THE DONUTS UNLESS IT IS TUESDAY They will let the donuts sit for days and still sell them to you. Donuts don't taste the same even after one day. I was sold old stale donuts on a Monday and found out from a friend that eats there regularly that they are delivered fresh on Tuesdays. This is exactly why my donut was so old. The hive just opened up in my area (used to be a starbucks) and Im so glad. I wanted a place near me that sold acai bowls and cheap healthy eats. To have some self control ive limited myself to coming twice this month lol The first time I had a regular iced almond milk latte and their avocado toast on their gluten bread. For the price it came out to $20 with the added poached eggs, which is a little high, but the flavor profile was well worth it and the eggs were cooked to perfection. Go I ordered eggs Benedict and their Matcha latte with almond milk. I was a little disappointed to see that the eggs Benedict were overcooked given that my first meal with them had perfectly poached eggs, the flavor profile for the eggs bunny also wasn't as great as the flavor profile for the avocado toast. The Matcha latte was good. It was not sweetened and had a very earthy flavor to it. I'm looking forward to trying an açai bowl or smoothie at this place to give a full review but so far what I've had has been tasty and decent read more

Grabbed the Green Hornet Smoothie as a quick snack to take on my walk around the marina and it was pretty darn tasty for a green smoothie. It consisted of kale, ginger, spirulina, apple, avocado, green protein alchemy, bee pollen, and banana. The Hive's staff was also friendly and fairly quick to whip up my order. There's a few single window seats in the cafe along with multitudes of self-help books for the choosing. There's also several shaded outdoor tables for those who want to dine in the fresh marina air yet forgot to lather on enough sunscreen to confidently risk a summer sunburn. Or if you're in need of a healthy tan, take your food closer to the marina boardwalk to soak up some rays and watch the sea lions bark at one another. My friends ordered the Buddha Bowl and Breakfast Burrito, and were underwhelmed. The lemon tahini dressing needed to be a bit tangier in the bowl, and the burrito was nothing special. Someone let queen bee know that the Hive is #1. Had the Shroom bowl and it was delicious. Mushrooms have a very deep umami flavor, fresh crunchy cabbage, fresh avocado, fresh spinach, the carrot slaw is to die for, I will say you don't really need the ginger sauce because the bowl is good enough without it. The one pitfall, is the bowl is filled with about 3-4 servings of wild rice, which is way beyond reasonable. I give credit to anyone that could actually eat that much rice. I also have a hot cacao reishi steamer with the almond milk, quite satisfying. I'm really looking forward to going back. Note: you will miss the Hive if you are trying to find in the dock side of the walking path, the storefront is up one level and facing via marina road. I got here right at opening time and there was already a line! I understand why after having the hot cacao and the bowl. I love that they have all kinds of books in the store, you can browse them while you wait for your order. read more

Although friendly, its totally a reasonably priced fast food concept. Coffee was decent, did not have an opportunity to see if refills were possible. Water, like pretty much everything, was self service. So why five stars? I had the avocado toast...pickled onions, watermelon radish, excellent toast were among the very well presented ingredients. A mess to eat (pick up a bunch of napkins), but very enjoyable, filling meal. Multiple good vegetarian options. There was limited indoor seating, and nicely shaded outdoor tables where we ate. Limited car parking was not an issue for us and we found room for our bicycles (no bike racks we could find). Definitely would return. read more

The menu was diverse, and playfully vibrant to look at. - [ ] Went with the sun god and aloha dragon smoothies. Additionally, ordered the chicken Athena wrap which was filling but light. The individual helping us at the counter was very friendly, and accommodated our order to substitute the nut options for nut free alternatives. Overall, this is a nifty little spot for açaí bowls and or fresh fruit smoothies if you can manage the awkward parking situation. i was exited to come check the new location at Marina but i got service by Nataly and i have to say she was very rude and seemed like she was irritated did wanted to be ask questions about the menu , my bowl was mess up AND on top it was missing toppings ... i love the hive and been going to the Santa Monica location so i know how their Menu/dishes looks and how they serve. i am paying for what i'm getting so i addressed to her asking nicely it was missing some toppings that the bowl already comes with and some adds i wanted at the beginning that never got to charged so order was incomplete , her answer was going to give it on the side taking a while just for my mango so i told her i wanted to get a new one because it was melting she completely denied and giving attitude when the fault and problem from the beginning was her . since she saw i didn't wanted that way she offered to give me refund instead letting the business / store to lose sales and money . it was that or speaking to the manager which i agreed to speak to maybe someone reasonable and she have the audacity to tell me i have to go look for the manager to the next door that is not the hive . i believe cashier or who is front in the first impression of anywhere you go its the first costumer filter so its very important who you choose to be in charge of this position if she will be giving this attention and attention this is not the job she should be doing. Avocado toast: Amazingly good, quality crusty bread toasted perfectly, generous toppings, tons of texture and flavor. Chicken Bowl: Wish I could have this all of the time, so full of yummy, healthy things. The flavor was outstanding, but I don't recall a ton of details. Acai bowl: A little heavy on the banana, but pretty good. Pickup was a little challenging due to the odd position it occupies in some sort of residential/business park, but there are a few parking spots. Perhaps delivery is easier. I was looking for a breakfast place nearby in Marina Del Rey. I found The Hive to be walking distance so I stopped by for breakfast. A lot of people were there ordering coffee. There's a few seats outside. I ordered the almond berry toast on gluten free brioche. When I see brioche, I picture the bread to be thicker or fluffier than the toast I received. The brioche was like a thin piece of toast. This was $9.95. If I had known this, I would have just picked up some berries at the farmers market nearby since I did have gluten free bread and peanut butter that I brought with me on this trip. Well, I had high hopes for The Hive during our LA visit. We ordered two Smoked Salmon toasts, one on ciabatta bread and the other on gluten-free brioche. The smoked salmon was delicious, and service was quick. However I asked for my gluten free bread to be served untoasted & unfortunately not only was my bread served toasted, one piece of bread was burnt.
