Food was good, service was good, environment was good. Just didn't feel it was a 5 star experience. I think the Sushi was good but def not my favorite sushi I've had.

We stopped by on a Thursday during lunch and it was empty and quiet. The host/server was really nice and made it a point to check on us throughout our visit. For lunch, I had the beef fried rice with no veggies. It was flavorful, fresh, and very filling. My only complaint is that it was a little oily/greasy. My husband had the combination yakisoba noodles which has chicken, beef, shrimp and veggies and neither he nor my three year old have any complaints. Since it was lunch time and we had our daughter with us, we stuck with sodas, but they have many alcoholic options, like Sake. I'm glad we checked this little place out and that it's close to home. We will be back!

DO NOT EAT HERE. The fish is BAD. Ordered over $100 worth of take out and this is the product we were given for the nigiri. Not only did they tell us we were lying when we said the fish was bad, denied fixing it, and said "I don't know what to tell you," but the attitude of their manager John was RUDE and immensely unprofessional.

We weren't overly impressed but it's decent weeknight sushi. We came in on a Wednesday night around 530 and it was pretty quiet but the service was decently attentive. The udon noodles were super thick and gooey but that's what our toddler likes so it was a win in his book. The crazy roll was pretty good, I usually avoid deep fried rolls but the fish inside still was good and raw so it was a good balance. There were mostly families inside so it def seemed kid friendly.

We just started coming here a couple of months ago, and mainly it was because of all the great reviews we were hearing from our friends and co-workers! They told us that was the best sushi in the whole Dallas-Fort Worth area, and we tend to agree! We also really love their spicy Ramen. Occasionally we get it as take out, and eat it at home, but we do enjoy eating at the restaurant. Great food, and great service! read more

My family went in for dinner tonight and Ryan was our waitress. She was absolutely amazing and was friendly and fun! We ordered the Monkey Brains, Sumo Mussels, Ahi Tuna Tower, and Haslet Roll. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented! We also had the Ruby Ocean Roll, which is a scrumptious hidden gem not in the menu and it just melted in our mouths. The experience at Sumo Sushi was not only yummy but so welcoming . We will definitely be back and are so excited to have some of the best sushi in DFW so close to us!!!! read more

I went for lunch and ordered a Louisiana Roll and 911 Roll...They were absolutely delicious! There are so many more Rolls I have to go back and try! The service was great! My waitress was a sweetheart. The sushi chef was also very nice and polite. When I got my ticket at the end of my meal...I was stunned $10.00 for 2 Classic sushi rolls!!! Winning! read more

Went in tonight for the first time and placed a Togo order. $48 worth of food! The only thing good out of my whole order was my sushi roll and egg rolls. The teriyaki chicken tasted like it came out of a freezer bag!! And the fried rice was nothing special either. And I also got the vegetable undo noodles!! Literally the worst noodles I've ever had! They tasted like liquid smoke! Not worth $50 read more

Fish was extremely fresh, and soooo delicious! Highly suggest the yellowtail heaven roll, yum yum roll and the haslet roll! We also ordered the bulgogi tower and the short ribs. They were hot meals but my god the meat was so tender and seasoned great (especially for a sushi restaurant). Sushi chefs were very friendly and attentive and gave us great choices in rolls. 5 stars will definitely be making this my new sushi restaurant! read more

This is the best sushi around bar none. Lunch special 2 for 10.00 rolls, and bento boxes are cheap. The rolls are fantastic and although the place is small is has a nice atmosphere. The chef makes his rolls a work of art, they look almost too pretty to eat, Almost ! If you love sushi then you have to give this place a try. I will be returning again, and again, and again, and well you get the point. read more

Great spot! Small place but nice decor and friendly staff. Rolls were excellent! My wife and I had four!!! The only thing I would critique is the size of the rolls. This place in my opinion is hit or miss. I like my sushi meat cold because fish can go bad really quick and develop a texture coating if you know what I mean. I've had both here. Fresh tasting sushi and sushi I was concerned about. If you want to know if I will be back? It depends if I feel like driving to another sushi restaurant I really really like. I've never gotten sick from eating here so cross my fingers I never do. read more

I will say that the fish is good, but not worth the crappy attitude of the new waitstaff. Stopped in yesterday. Had a couple of rolls. Had to flag down our server for refills - he rolled his eyes (!!) and grabbed our glasses. He did not bring ginger or wasabi after we asked twice. We would have asked for a different server but it seemed like he was the only one, though it was busy and no manager in sight. Heard him loudly complaining about a customer to someone in the back. What happened to Raymond??? He could teach this guy a thing or two. Until the staff shapes up, we will drive to Fort Worth for sushi. read more

I went to this restaurant on a recommendation of a co-worker. It was delicious! I had the Lobster roll and a friend of mine had the Geisha roll. We both thought it was fantastic! Excellent! Great atmosphere, so it down service but relaxed, great prices. Lunch special of any two classic rolls for $10 can't be beat. And, they weren't able to do a substitution I requested, which was no problem, but they sent the most beautiful animal carved out of an orange on the house as an apology which our 18 month old loved! read more

Ok, so I just left Sumo Sushi and it is awesome!!! I ordered the philadelphia roll, crunch roll and a small rice. Everything is so good. It used to be Queen Sushi Buffet, but now it is under new management and of course the name has changed. If anyone is near Haslet and wants some good Sushi please go and try them out. you will not be sorry. Also everyone is so friendly :-) read more

That said the hostess has influence and today's 1 star review is for her an her alone. We also ran into Lencho. Lencho is the absolute best waiter. Sundays though he works on the hibachi grill side. Bummer. His smile would have turned the experience around. He's that good and we love him. This is the second time where We've not experience the best customer service. I can't believe I'm just now writing a review for this place! I've been coming here for a few years now...definitely one of my FAV sushi places (and I've had sushi all over the world). I remember being reluctant to go there because it was in Haslet Tx...how good could sushi be in TX?? lol But it was! They've been super consistent over the years. Never had a bad experience. All their rolls are good and my fav appetizer (and meal sometimes) is monkey brains!! You gotta try it! read more

I eat sushi everywhere I go and I have to say that Sumo is in the top 3. Get the Ahi Tower and the Haslet roll. They also take special requests. The price is reasonable for the size of the rolls that you get and competitive with most other sushi restaurants. For non-sushi eaters the teriyaki chicken bowl is one of the best I've had as well. read more
