This place has been a real roller coaster of emotions. I was gonna take my nine-year-old son here for his birthday. They came by an off day was closed and we swore to come back... Then I found out it's really only open business hours Monday through Friday thing that is a downtown food cart and that is it's our of operations. Sometimes we forget a convenience is a gift and not a mandate I will say that it was worth the return visit structured on a day. The kids don't have school and I don't have work. This place is pounding out massive fresh tasty sushi rolls is big as four hand rolls put together Not only that but the owner is super cool and friendly and even through in a slice of cake for my son's belated birthday Absolutely amazing place amazing owner. Location: Looks like this place was a former Shari's based in the building shape. Interior is pretty well laid out for its intent - buffet with table service Service: five stars for staff attitude and friendliness. Parking: lots! Food: This was hard. The buffet was really not that good, in fact, some items were terrible, especially desserts - mochi, sesame balls, coconut pudding. Some were decent - crawfish with corn and potatoes, drinks, crab salad. The system is you can order 15 items every 15 minutes in addition to the buffet line. That's a lot of food. But, not everything is worth ordering. The nigiri were good and I highly recommend ordering that, the sushi rolls were iffy. Meaning some were good and some were not so good. The hand roll, specifically the salmon skin, was really greasy. Next time, we'll order the hotpot and other items. But overall, today's choices were just "okay". read more

This sushi place is conveniently downtown near PSU and I think that's what makes it so attractive, but I've had their rolls twice now and both were just disappointing. They try so hard to pack their fish and ingredients into their rolls and everytime I've had them they end up falling apart. As you remove the wrap it just tears apart the seaweed and shows how little rice was used. As a lover of all things raw fish, I knew I wanted to give this place a try! I got the Sumo's Roll sushi burrito (~$13) and got soy sauce, wasabi and ginger on the side! The fish itself was very fresh and they made it on the spot for me, and for the price, I think it was well worth it with the portion size being quite large! Also, there are a few benches in front of the truck to sit at and enjoy the food and ambiance wise, seems pretty safe and chill! But I'm taking a star off because the flavor was definitely a little lacking. I don't believe the burrito itself has any sauce in it, so having soy sauce on the side definitely helped with the flavor! Without the sauce, it would have been too plain! Also, this is my second time trying to come here, as the first time they were closed even though Google said they were open.. I've always been more impressed by the concept of the sushi burrito than I have been the execution, but I must admit that Sumo Sushi does it well! Everything tastes fresh and is packed with flavor, and it maintains it structural integrity, which is always my gripe about burritos in general. I go for the #9, the Lucky Dragon. It has salmon and tuna, and includes a japanese omelette. Add in the lettuce and cucumber then wrap it in rice and seaweed and it's a filling meal that tastes fresh and has a great texture. It's certainly one of the better sushi burritos that I've had. I like that it's tucked away in a corner of campus that has a number of other trucks thus also some picnic tables. It's convenient for when you need a place to sit, and for when you're eating with other people who might want a different kind of food for lunch. I just moved close by and while I'm not a PSU student, I'm quickly learning its a destination for nearby food cart options. I'll be at this one pretty regularly. read more

I love spicy tuna and onions, so decided it can't go wrong.... as it used to be expensive, but now I can't seem to find anything under $8. I think there's 3 customers ahead of me, and it takes me 15 minutes to get here. Doesn't leave lotta time for work lunch to grab and go. Closer location has been vacant (last 2 times) so had to come up this way. So commute is -1 Star. Customer service was friendly and one manages making the food whole another takes the order. I enjoy highly artisan dainty sushi, but sometimes it's nice to gobble it up like a burrito. I like putting on generous amount of wasabi and let tears drop as I stuff myself with the sushi. It's very fulfilling and I can only eat half the portion - remainder tends to get hard and nowhere near as good after it's in a fridge. They've got a sushi burrito for every palette (vegan, fried chicken, traditional, etc) and a 'build-your-own' option. There's no seating, but the food comes in cute pink boxes with all the fixings (wasabi and pickled ginger) so I find it extremely portable. The 'burrito' itself is hefty and structurally sound. The dang thing hasn't fallen apart on me yet, but the vegetable heavy options my friends get tend to leave a tiny leaf-litter pile of shredded carrots and cabbage. I couldn't care less about the mess though. It's too dang delicious! The cart's convenient location across from the PSU bookstore / TriMet stop means that there can be quite the line at lunch. I really love this food truck! The menu is so customizable with the build your own option. The boxes are cute and pink they remind me voodoo doughnut boxes. This is probably one of my favorite food carts on the PSU campus. From the moment you walk up, you are greeted with a smile as your order is taken. From then, it's not too long of a wait as your roll is prepared. They don't pre-make the sushi rolls, but make then as you order, and your roll is always fresh. I had high hopes as I'm a huge fan of sushi burritos after first being introduced to them in Vegas. Sadly, this one did not live up to expectations. Overall, the flavor was bland and the rice to sushi ingredients ratio was way too high on the rice end of the scale. Although they didn't have one of the ingredients I requested, they offerred to substitute it which was nice. However, what is truly absurd is that they charge the same amount to add masago as they do for any other protein. This is ridiculous as Masago is not a primary ingredient, cheaper than fish and is typically used as a topping or addition in sushi rolls. I highly recommend spending the extra 10 minutes to walk down to cartlab as the quality of the fish, presentation and the sushi ingredient to rice ratio is much better! read more
