My review is that is the best place to get a full synthetic oil change. It's good that they do a full inspection of your vehicle with no charge. Shenanigans! I took my 2014 Hyundai Tucson in for an oil change and tire rotation. After waiting an hour for this, the front desk guy told me I need to change my serpentine belt, get a brake oil flush, and change my engine filter. The next day I drove from LAS TO CA. As soon as I got to LA, I took the car to a reputable mechanic. He informed me that all of Sun Auto's findings were bogus. Took my mom's car into Sun Auto because one of her headlights had been jerry-rigged by a previous owner with missing hardware -- the bulb was basically just floating in space. I explained everything clearly and asked them to replace both headlights and find a way to secure the loose one so it wouldn't wobble around like a bobblehead. They said, "No problem." I was told it'd take about an hour, so I grabbed coffee nearby. Sure enough, they called right on time and told me the car was ready. I paid around $100, everything looked good from the outside, and I was on my way. But when I got back to my mom's house and flipped the lights on -- surprise! The bulb was still dangling inside the housing like it was hanging out at a rave. They replaced the bulb, sure... but didn't secure it in any way. I ended up duct taping it into place myself. Classy, I know. To be fair, a few days later they did email to ask if I was satisfied (I wasn't), and they followed up with a voicemail offering to fix it. I appreciate the gesture. But maybe -- just maybe -- if someone had done a proper check before handing the car back, or even walked through what they did with me, we wouldn't be here. Moral of the story: I paid a shop to solve a problem I could've halfway solved myself for free. Next time I'll just charge myself and get coffee anyway. read more

I got an alignment done on my 2013 Hyundai sonata in March 2025 after replacing various front end components. Replace the rims and tires with brand new ones at the end of April 2025. Had been hearing some strange noises from the front end like something was loose? Then noticed my brand new tires in the front were starting to wear on the outside edges rather noticeably! I finally got a chance to take it to Big O tires to get it looked at ( they do free inspections ) after maybe 30 mins they called me back and told me that my tie rod bolts were loose and that my alignment was off and that was what was the cause of the noise I'd been hearing! I told them I had just had the alignment done not that long ago?! They said they must not have tightened the bolts!! They said I should take it back and also tell them they need to replace your 2 new front tires because the outside edges were so worn the belts were close to coming through!! I went back to Sun Auto on Stephanie on Friday about 20 mins before 5pm and explained to the Manager Eric what was going on with my car. He said no problem that they would realign my car and he would look into the tires. Asked if I could bring it back tomorrow ( Saturday ) morning @6, to which I said I'll just leave it here and that was fine. Well Saturday comes and around noon I try calling to see what's going on with my car. Well after several times of me calling and asking and being told I'd be called right back ( which didn't happen! ) I finally was called back and giving the excuse that he ( the manager ) had been swamped and kept getting tied up or what not when he was "going" to check my car status... Really walk maybe 20' into the shop to find out and call someone back that had called multiple times?! Anyway I was told my alignment was done but he had to order tires and they should get there tomorrow ( Sunday ) mid morning and I should be done by noon. Well "I" again called at 12:20 and was told "let me check and I'll call you right back"!! "I" had to call again an hour later for him to say they got the tires and it should be ready by 4:00?! Almost 3hrs to put 2 tires on??? I understand there's other vehicles they are working on, but I dropped my car off on Friday so 1st thing Saturday to do an alignment and figure out the tires! An alignment can be done in about an hour and a half and look at the tires see it needs 2 new ones and order them if you don't have them maybe another 30 mins so even if they didn't start it till 7 it should have been just waiting on tires which might have even gotten there the same day if ( Saturday! ) if the manager new how to run a shop competently! Long story short I didn't get my car back till Sunday about 10 mins before 4 as I was walking in the door he was calling me... He realigned my car and put 2 new tires on ( which is what a shop should do when they mess up ) but I asked about a road hazard warranty for the 2 tires he put on seeing that I had that on my new ones that he replaced. He kept telling me if I get a flat come back and he'll take care of me... Well I can say without a doubt I will "NOT COME BACK" I will "NEVER" go to Sun Auto on Stephanie street again! Wish I would have read some reviews before I took my car there in the first place! A lesson learned at the cost of 2days without my car and I now have mismatched tires. I took a 2012 Rav 4 for simple battery terminal replacement priced at $120. We approved the repair and Jesse stated that the terminals have been replaced as contracted to do so. Received a call from Sun Auto stating the Battery Terminals where replaced it did not correct the starting issue. They stated that the vehicle had a bad Starter. When I picked up the car the BATTERY TERMINALS WHERE NOT REPLACED but a $700 started job was completed. Their analyses was invalid, they up sold us unneeded starter. The owner of this car is 86 years old and she feels she was a victim of a senior crime. She is on fixed income and can't believe somebody would ever do something like this.. Worst service I've experienced. Decided to take my car to a new place for an oil change because I didn't have time to make an appointment with my regular mechanic. Next day, I turn on my car and a maintenance warning light turns on. I get it scanned and a couple of codes pop up, nothing too concerning. The person at auto zone said that it might be my brake pads, which I noted. I go to take it back to Sun and Auto my next day off. I was told that I needed an entirely new transmission and they quoted me $6,000. For reference I have a 2019 Nissan Sentra. Im a full time college student with a full time job. This is very much out of my budget. They offered me a lone to apply for, of $2,400. Even with that, I still couldn't pay it. I decided to hold off on fixing my car, and as I picked it up they asked me to apply for another lone. I got approved for $5,600. A lot better, but again I am in no position to take on that amount of debt as I am still paying for said car and other bills. When I told them it would still be a no for today, Bobby(the worker who had been helping me the whole time) turned a cold shoulder and was blatantly ignoring me. The other worker whose name I can't remember, tried saving the conversation but I felt embarrassed and left as I planned to anyways. This review doesn't sound terrible until you hear that I took it to get a second opinion the moment my original mechanic could get me in. Come to find out, there was nothing wrong with my transmission. I just got new brake pads and a standard adjustments. I was relived when I found out that my total was nowhere near $6,000. I waited to leave this review just to make sure there was nothing my mechanic missed. It's been a month now and my car is moving smoother than ever. If anyone needs a mechanic recommendation go to Aloha Automotive Service and Repairs on W Sunset Rd. Family owned in Henderson, NV. Craig at Sun auto is one of the most unprofessional people I've ever dealt with. He made a huge mistake and did not provide a written estimate before working on my wife's car. Per Nevada NRS 487.6875 "YOU have the right to receive a WRITTEN ESTIMATE of charges for repairs made to your vehicle which exceed $50. (NRS 487.6875) By not following the statute posted on their walls, which they must follow because they are a registered shop in the state of Nevada. They had no rite to detain my wife's vehicle. See Nevada statute NV Rev Stat § 487.6887. Which states if these rules are not followed, the shop has no right to detain the vehicle. NV Rev Stat § 487.6887. "In every instance where charges are made for the repair of a motor vehicle by a garage operator, the garage operator making the repairs shall comply with the provisions of NRS 487.6875 to 487.6893, inclusive. A garage operator is not entitled to detain a motor vehicle by virtue of any common law or statutory lien, or otherwise enforce such a lien, or to sue on any contract for repairs made by the garage operator unless he or she has complied with the requirements of NRS 487.6875 to 487.6893, inclusive." Today, after I asked Craig to please provide me with any written esimates my wife had signed and approved so I could pay them. He replied, "There is no written esitmate." This is illegal. They quoted my wife $1391 for an oil change, front shocks and struts, and an inspection. Well, after their inspection. My wife's bill is now $7391. This shop has no shred of proof that my wife approved these repairs beyond Craig the managers word saying he has her on a recored line approving it. Which she did not. No signature anywhere to be found but almost $7,400 in work done. But hey! They have financing! Craig led my wife to a 178% interest loan, with a $19,900 finance fee due after 90 days! Only $1200 a month for 24 months. This just so happened to be approved for $7,500 with a bill just under. Seems fishy to me. After being presented with the facts that he messed up by not providing my wife with a written, signed quote like the state requires. Craig went to the back, put the car up on the lift, closed the garage, and parked a car in front of it. Acting like im some thief, I've spent thousands at this establishment. They have messed up 3 of my vehicles now! Craig threatened to "put the car in storage" and place a lien on it if I didn't pay his inflated bill. I was told I am no longer welcome at Sun auto. I was told if we wanted my wife's car back, SHE could bring the $7,400 back in CASH by HERSELF. After paying, come to find out they didn't even do the job the right way. Their reply was to "drop it off in the morning." No, sir. You have wasted a week of my time, took advantage of a woman who knows nothing about car parts. And acted as if the law does not apply to you. On top of everything, we asked to have the turbo that was removed returned to us. Which is also our right under nevada statute NRS 487.6883. We paid yesterday at 1:30pm today at 7:45 am they already shipped the turbo to be rebuilt so they could claim a credit for themselves. Do not deal with shady business practices, I have every intention of pursuing this until they do the rite thing. Do not deal with Craig, he has a reputation of threatening people and their vehicles. If I could give a business negative stars, it would be this Sun Auto on 106 S Stephanie St. I have my buddy bring in my car on a Monday since I'm at work and I send him with all the information they need to start looking at my car. I normally do all the work on my own car however I was busy and needed a second opinion. The car would stall and die at low rpm's (stop lights, parking lots, low speeds etc.) my MPG also dropped and I was also getting multiple voltage circuit codes. This was told to the technicians by my friend when he dropped it off. I gave this info so it would be easier to narrow down the problem to the PCM/TCM or could possibly be grounding issues. A few hours goes by and I get a call at work from Sun Auto. The person on the phone says they're looking at my fuel pump but haven't quite identified the problem yet. I asked why are they looking at my fuel pump, it's an electrical issue. Apparently whoever took my car failed to tell other technicians about the issues I was experiencing. No problem, I told him again what was going on and he said okay we might have an answer on Tuesday or Wednesday with this new information. The symptoms I gave were documented and I hung up. Fast forward the next day to Tuesday, they call me back saying hey found the issue and that 2 of my fuel pumps are out and need to be replaced as well as a pcm flash. I was quoted around 1800 for parts and labor. It still didn't make sense that it would be a fuel pump issue. I decided I didn't want to work done at this time and came and picked up my car Tuesday evening. When picking up the car I asked how they concluded it was the fuel pump and he just said they ran Their live data test and the test showed the pressure was low or that the pumps weren't working properly, I forget how they worded it. I then asked about the electrical codes I was getting, specifically the crankshaft position sensor code and the cylinder injector circuit codes. When i asked he just said "that's covered in the pcm flash." I was still confused but I said okay and took my keys. When getting in my car, it reeked of gasoline. I didn't think a lot of it because they said they were looking at my fuel pump, so it I thought it was just the lingering smell of gas. I take it home and spend the entire weekend doing my own repairs which is changing a crankshaft sensor and replacing the pcm. After I complete my repairs, the car is back to running normal and my gas mileage returns to normal. I did absolutely nothing to any fuel pumps or my fuel system at all. I didn't even look at it. I go to get gas on Sunday and while I'm filling up, gas starts DUMPING out from under my car. And when I say dumping, it's not an exaggeration. It's as if the gas pump if just dumping out the bottom of my car. (The footage included is the aftermath, the main flow of gas lasted a good 20 seconds and then slowed down to what you see in the vSo obviously I'm upset since the last people to touch anything related to my fuel system are the people at sun auto and my car never has ever had any fuel related issues since I've had it. So I end up driving back to sun auto to tell them they need to fix it, however when I get there I realize they are closed on Sunday. So I take the car home and take a look at the job they did on my fuel pump. Come to find out, they didn't even put my fuel pump back in correctly. The metal lock ring that seals the tank was put on incorrectly and then locked into place, meaning gas was just pouring out of my tank from under my back seat. So I spend another hour fixing their mess up and putting it back on correctly I then call sun auto on Monday to tell them what had happened and speak to a manager. I speak with Jesse. I explain that they incorrectly put my fuel pump in and gas was leaking everywhere. He then denies that they took my fuel pump out and that it wasn't them. Which is astonishing considering I have dashcam footage of the sound of the lock ring being beaten out/ in the back of my car. The ring that they put on incorrectly cannot just be undone or get messed up on its own. So they blatantly lied and didn't want to take responsibility for their poor technicians. I asked how they knew they needed to change my fuel pumps and they just said they Ran a diagnostic scan on my car. It now makes sense why my car reeked of gas when I picked it up because they take was actually open airing into my cab. Also my car runs perfectly fine now without changing my fuel pumps, and when I ran my own scan, CD I saw nothing wrong with my pressure. So not only did they want to charge me almost 2 grand for something completely unrelated to my issue. They put my car back together wrong and denied it was them even though it's physically impossible for it to have been anyone else. Did not include dash cam footage in this post, however I will send it to any Representative of Sun Auto upon request Do not take your car here for any type of work. They are dishonest and untrained. read more

WARNING!!! The question is what went right not what went wrong! Let's start the list: 1. Made an appt and was told 45min-1hour for an oil change. Was sitting there for 3 hours, and they couldn't complete the work due to the incompetence and or they tried to scam me out of $2700. 2. After waiting 3 hours was told I needed a new oil filter housing as part of the filter was stuck in the housing. I was told it would take a day and cost $2700. It was their incompetence that got it stuck. I ended up getting my car back without a filter in the housing. Drove it home and had to Uber to and from my appointment I was late for since I spent 3 hours waiting on a 1 hour job. After watching YouTube videos, saw it was a simple fix. Removed the oil housing filter cover took a dental pick and had the piece out in 15 mins. Following what was told on YouTube. Went and bought an oil filter since they failed to even give me that after I had paid for them the "service". 4. The owner of the Prius that your key went missing, they left it in my car. I found it the next day in my car. 5. I went back to return the key show them the filter base that only took me 15 mins to remove and ask them for a refund. I wasted 2 hours of my day, had my 7 year old daughter sitting at their hot store wasting our time. Had to pay Uber to and from the meet the teacher event at my daughter's school, which cost me $60. I had to buy a filter since they didn't give me the one they were supposed to install. And when I asked why they couldn't get the piece out in 2 hours and it only took me 15 mins. They had no response. I asked why they said it would cost $2700 for a new oil filter housing, they had no response. They agreed to refund the money and gave me a receipt saying it was refunded, but 10 days later still no refund. They also said they were going to give me a filter. When I was waiting I asked how long it took to grab the filter, I was told they had to order one it would be 5-10 mins. When I asked what happened to the one they had that was supposed to be installed in my car, they said they didn't have it anymore. I left without the filter and very unhappy. I have the whole thing recorded on video and once I'm done editing will post on YouTube. My suggestion stay away from this place they will rip you off!!! read more

I brought my Kona to Sun Auto for repair, they were friendly and efficient. The car was repaired in a timely manner. I had a warranty on the car and gave them that info. So in order to ensure payment Sun Auto sent an invoice to the warranty company claiming the car was repaired and received payment BEFORE commencing the work!! So because the car was reported repaired my rental coverage stopped so I only got one day's car rental and had to pay $130 out of pocket!! Make sure you read everything Sun Auto gives you before you sign it!! You might think you're signing a work authorization when you're really signing something else!! read more

I went here to get an estimate on my Chevy volt. The check engine light was on and it prevented me from getting car smogged. Took it here after looking at the reviews. They charged me the initial diagnostic fee and said it they I needed to fix a couple issues and it would cost around 2k. Then they switched it on me said they had to order another part that it would then cost me $4500! Upset I took it to another place my friend recommended and this place got it done for only $750. I made an appointment to have my oil changed and when I showed up, I remembered that my wife had asked about checking the brakes and rotating the tires, and even though they were short-handed they explained that they definitely could do a brake check and also asked if there was anything else that I thought might need to be done. I checked the recommended service schedule and mentioned the fuel-water filter and brake fluid change and they added that to the list and I was still out of there quickly. TLDR: Honest team, great service, but can get busy. I recently took my friend's car in to get serviced because of headlights issues. They were persistent in getting in contact with me which I appreciated. They replaced my headlights for me and gave me tips on servicing other parts of my friend's car including tires. My friend has been meaning to get them replaced but at a later date. I got a call from them in the afternoon and was informed that my friend's car was fixed and ready to be picked up. They gave me a great deal for getting my headlight bulbs replaced and I really appreciated it. When I checked my friend's car, I came to realize that not all the headlight bulbs were fixed. The mechanic had an oversight with a pair of headlights that persistently did not shine. Despite this problem, they admitted to it and recommended that I get it serviced at Toyota directly as they were unable to troubleshoot the issue. They admitted that they had a rush of business that caused them to be busier than usual. They had to expand their hours that day to get other cars done as well. Overall, I appreciate the honesty and had a positive experience overall. I will still have to get the car serviced from Toyota directly, but the problem seems complex beyond their capabilities at this time. read more

Get a quote, get a quote, get a quote!!! Did I mention get a quote?? Sure, they quoted me the hours it would take for the repair over the phone, but when I went to pay the bill, they tacked on additional work because they had to disconnect some coolant lines and move them around to get the alternator in. They said that was the only way to get the alternator in. I may not be the smartest amateur mechanic out there, but if the book says it will take 3.6 hours to do the job, that should account for moving any hoses around that need to be moved to get the job done--but maybe I'm wrong. The store manager seemed to think I was. By the way, it only took them an hour to do the work (with two mechanics working on it). So it took them half the time the book estimated, but they still needed to charge extra for all the additional labor that was required. Seems fishy. Total bill: $1,400 for an alternator (and I picked the mid-grade part). Quick search online says that service should cost $500 - $1,300. So they exceed the standard rate for this service. You are probably better off going to the dealer--which I would never normally recommend. read more

I feel bad writing a negative review as the front desk staff have always been polite and cordial but unfortunately I have had quite a few negative experiences. I used to bring 3 of our cars there and on each car there were numerous times I had to return to have the work redone. 3 x with our VW Jetta and an oil pan, 2x with our Mazda and struts and now most recent with my Ford F-150 and engine mounts. I had them replaced almost 2 years ago and then I brought it in for a continuos noise and they told me it was my engine mounts, thats funny you just replaced them a year ago, so they redid them again and I had my car at another epair place for another issue and they told me part of the problem was my engine mounts. So I brought it back to Sun and one of their finding was loose engine mounts. When I told them they literally replaced them almost one year ago to the day, they then came back with well they are loose but dont need to be replaced, keep an eye on them? WTH? You supposedly have replaced them 2x now and only a year after the last time I need to keep an eye on them? Does not sound like they were done correctly once again. Suppose we will watch them for another year until the warranty is over. Just my experience. read more

When Sun Auto Service makes a mistake that does harm to your car, they don't take responsibility for it. I went in for a routine oil change, came home with car leaking oil. Went back. They said they crushed the drain plug. Okay, mistakes happen. They ordered a new one, installed it. Went home, oil leaked on my garage floor again. I took the car back, they said they'd put their best mechanic on it. Took car home, it still leaked oil. After this, their 3rd try and many hours wasted, gave up and went to my Audi service center. They fixed the problem, for a fee. I asked Sun if they would cover my expense to return my car to proper working order. They said that their regional manager would not cover it. The claim was that they did the same thing Audi did to fix the problem, ignoring the fact that Audi fixed the oil leak and they did not. I've had good experience with Sun, up until now. Their front line people are great. They are friendly, courteous and patient. It's management that very much dropped the ball on this. read more

I've been to Sun Auto half a dozen times over the last few years and frankly I'm surprised that I'm just getting around to writing a review. I normally take my car in minor maintenance like brakes or an oil change. My son bought a car last year and they were able to identify the issues and repair costs so we could make an accurate used car purchase. Today I took my car in for an oil change and got an accurate estimate for both time and cost. I really appreciate having a mechanic I can trust that is so convenient and close to home. Their staff clearly enjoys being there. Lighthearted joking and very clear expectations make Sun Auto an enjoyable experience for an oil change. Bait and switch shop that's all I have to say about this place. My son and I have Carmax care and this is an authorized shop and we had to go to Senato corporate because this location wanted to charge me for work that is 100% covered by Carmax care. Corporate fix the problem not this location. read more

I am giving 3 stars only because Nathan was amazing and helped me out so much. Dean and the manager Craig made my experience the worst. They stressed me out, lied to me, Craig has a really bad attitude and talks to customers rudely. Only reason I would ever come back is because of Nathan and all his help. read more
