I've been getting my 2017 Infiniti serviced at Sun Auto for a while now, and I usually work with Danny he's always been great. However, on my last visit I had to work with Tim, and the experience was very unprofessional. He did not follow up with Me as promised, and he told me he would order a part and call me once it arrived. I never received that call. I eventually contacted Danny and told him how happy I was that he was back. I also explained the situation regarding the part for my car. Danny said he would look into it and call me back and within 10 to 15 minutes, he did, updating me on the status and letting me know when I could bring my car in. I brought my car in on November 10 and spoke with Danny and Anthony, letting them know what was going on. Within an hour or two, my car was finished. I just want to say thank you to Danny and Anthony for their outstanding customer service. Now that Danny is back, I will definitely be returning to Sun Auto. read more

We brought our vehicle in for an a error code issue and they said that our egr valve was carbon up and it needed a cleaning. We only got 2 to 3 miles from their shop after the repair and we got a check engine light again for the same problem and to make insult to injury they picked up a screw in their parking lot so we figured we would get that fixed and our troubles would be over until we got 2 miles away and our check engine light came back on. They had our vehicle for a day and a half, charged $820 for 4 hours labor and $65.00 for shop supplies. $891.00 and we still have a disabled vehicle and then there's my labor for repairing my own tire. We went back and their attitude is ok will look at it again. No way, they didn't even verify that their repairs fixed the system. They just cleared the PCM of its codes and sent us out the door. read more

Techs know what they're doing when diagnosing and fixing problems. But what they lack is follow up. I was handed a receipt stating a bulb was replaced--it didn't work. I called the day of--they said it was a faulty module and would give me a call back. 1 week later I called them after not receiving the promised follow up. Listen, I hate having to bring my car to the shop more than anyone, but if you need to take it in...bring it here. The guys at Sun Auto are reliable and upfront with their estimates as well as the length of time it will take to complete the work. They are pleasant and straightforward. I brought my car in for an oil change and they discovered that I had a massive nail in the sidewall of one of the tires, also that I imminently needed rear brakes. (I knew I was having a bit of a problem, but not that it was THAT bad) They got me in the next day and out 3 hours later so I could leave on my trip that weekend. Also the waiting room is clean and comfortable. I trust them and this make Sun Auto invaluable, regardless of the price. read more

I had the unpleasant experience with this auto shop. They failed to properly diagnose my AC issues less than 6 months ago and my AC stopped working. I took it back in and said they found a new leak when I specifically told them to do a whole repair even on the old AC hoses. They told me no need apparently. I'm back 6 months later with the same issue from the first 2 times and still wanna charge $1.6k+ repair. No accountability. Not happy. Let's see how long I have before I have to fix my AC AGAIN bc they do sloppy jobs if you can help it, don't come here and I wouldn't recommend this place and will definitely be reporting this business. They should've repaired it for free and I shouldn't have to pay $1.1k in labor cost when they didn't do the job right the first time. Extremely disappointed and they took advantage of me. read more

Came in at 9am for some new tires. We were told about an hour and a half. Which turned out to be 2 and a half. Maybe a bit longer. As we were not told, or called to let us know they had to retrieve the tires elsewhere. The shop smelled like someone just smoked a blunt in the waiting area. Whether it was from a person that was in there before us or someone in office I can't say and don't want to make assumptions but that was a little bothersome. We were asked if we can possibly get a seniors discount, as we were told they already gave a nice discount. Which came to $8. If that is nice, I mean I guess. $600 for 4 new tires isn't a bad price. Tires on the vehicle are working fine. So thank you for that. Service was just okay. I would recommend to come for the fair pricing. Other than that...I would say go elsewhere. read more

Went to have my ac fixed changed me 2800 for the compressor and condenser when I got it back my car was over heating they said nothing they did but the cooling fan got disconnected so the replaced it for free. A month later my ac went out they replaced a hose blamed it on me for driving 2000 miles but fixed it and now theres a rattling in the engine absolutely done with this shop. read more

Two months ago, we bought a battery for our car from Sun Auto. It was a bad battery so we had to go back to exchange it. It was under warranty so the battery was free, but they charged us for putting the new battery in. I was surprised they didn't offer to put the new battery for free since it was their battery that died. But, they did try to push a longer warranty on me. read more

When our car died, my husband couldn't stick around to have the car jumped (and we assumed we needed a new battery since the old one was about 3yrs old) so we had it taken to Sun Auto since it was close by. When they finally evaluated our car, they said we had a dead battery but also needed a new alternator. They claimed it was getting less than 12v, and quoted us $1982. I couldn't believe it, and told them that price was absurdly high so we would just have the car towed back to our house. That night, my coworker and I drove by to get the car, and he tested it with his voltmeter and it was PERFECTLY fine. It was consistently getting 14v. I cannot believe they tried to get me to spend $1500 on a new alternator when the one I had was fine. In hindsight, I'm glad the quote was absurdly high, because if it was like $700 I probably would've just paid it and been none the wiser that they were lying to me. After this experience, this place should be investigated by the Attorney General and Consumer Affairs for deceptive practices. Take your business elsewhere!! read more

Called around 5:40pm to see if they do tire repair after getting a chunk of metal stuck in my tire on the way to pick up dinner in the shopping center kiddy corner. Even before it rang I was hoping not to get somebody that would put me on hold until close which was 20 min from then. After two minutes of the phone ringing, a man picked up and first thing asked if I could hold. I was on hold until 5 past closing, at that point I gave up. I arrived at the shop from dinner (still on hold) just before hanging up. The door was locked, all garage doors closed, and through the front door I could see there was nobody at the desk. They forgot about me. I waited just about twenty five minutes to be forgotten about, not even a I'm sorry, try again tomorrow. Still would like to know, do they fix flats? read more

My parents used Sun Auto for years. My mom still uses them for everything. I was taken back with some of the repairs she had been making to her car and thought I would give Sun Auto a shot (for my sake and my mothers). I had a service engine light pop for one of my O2 Sensors. I made an appointment to have them troubleshoot and replace because I had a DMV appointment a couple days later. I expected around $300-$400 for the O2 Sensor and was willing to pay for the convenience and so I could register on time. They told me that they are only allowed to use Bosch Sensors, which if you buy from AutoZone, you can get one around $180 and the other around $350. They were going to charge me double for both (Not counting labor). Then they said my car wouldn't start, asking if I had a problem with it before. I said I had not, but it hasn't been replaced in about 5-6 years. They said it was leaking, so I told them they could replace it. They also told me my front tires were "completely bald". Well, it's been over 2 months since this incident and I can report that I still have 7/32 left (I realize that is debatable, but I don't change my tires will 10,000 miles left on them). So, I picked up my car with the new battery and went to get a SMOG after driving 100 miles. The service engine light still hadn't came back on from the battery replacement and they told me to drive it at least a full tank. I came back after approximately 300 miles of driving and the SMOG check passed. So, I guess I should thank them for fixing my issue with a battery change??? I realize it's possible that it was the battery, but it could have been a loose connector, or a number of other things. So, they wanted to charge me over $1,700 for two tires, a battery, and two O2 Sensors. My car was fixed for the price of the battery ($228). Even if you take the tires off, it was still going to be over $1,400 for two O2 Sensors and a Battery... After all the upselling they've done to my mother over the years it's not surprising, but it is unfortunate. I gave them a chance, but will not again. I am looking for a regular car shop if anyone has any suggestions. If anyone ever moves to San Diego, A&D Autowerks - https://aanddautowerks.com/ is amazing. Took my van down to have it looked at because It wasn't getting cold air blowing thru vents. They diagnosed the problem as a vacuum leak. Also, saying freon was a little low so they flushed and replaced. Also had some electrical issues that they also handled. Had the fan for a few days and noticed still have the same issues with air not blowing thru vents. So after dropping $800 + for repairs, they are telling me I now need another repair to fix the fan. This is absolutely ridiculous that they did not diagnose the problem correctly, charged me $155 for an electrical diagnostic and still didn't diagnose the problem correctly. The incompetence is stupendous and I strongly recommend no one use this place read more

My daughter took her car here to get a new clutch installed. I was not involved but I wish I had seen the estimate to let her know how big of a rip off it is. They were nice and friendly and told me how they worked hard to bring the cost down but that is a lie. Charging 35-40 percent over cost is normal for service centers but 135-140 percent is not. She ended up paying $3000 for a job that should have been $1500. Lesson learned for her just make sure you don't get fooled by the smiles. Update: there is no confusion on my part. I retired last year after being a service advisor for over 6 years. Your "premium"parts numbers are easily searchable on google and are the basic parts needed to do the job. This repair has been completed on this vehicle before so I am aware of its cost. As I stated it is an industry standard to charge 35-45 percent over cost to cover your parts department, nobody works for free. I am more than confident you charged about $1300 for $500 worth of parts and that's being generous. Plain and simple ending is you took advantage of a female that didn't know any better. read more

SEEK A SECOND OPINION!!! So I came here on Monday as I was having some issues with my car. I was greeted by Woody. I explained to him that my car was making a popping sound while turning my steering wheel, someone tried to break into my gas tank+ leaking gas when I tried to fill up tank & that I get a random oil sensor light that goes on&off. I told him I would like a diagnostic to see what is needed on my car. While I was waiting I noticed the floors were dirty, candy scattered everywhere &dust accumulating in areas that had not been swept or moped. So Woody comes back explains that my Fuel Filler Tube is broken&needs to be replaced& Bushings are broken. No check engine light was detected in the computer so there's nothing wrong with the oil sensor. He gave me a quote of $1446.86 for both repairs needed. I agreed to repairs and was I informed it would be about a 2 hour repair. They didn't have fuel tube so it needed to be ordered, I was told it would be in by 12:00 pm the next day. My husband asks if they had inspected everything including the brakes, we get a NO. What?!? Didn't I just pay you for a diagnostic? And my car was NOT fully inspected?!?!(First red flag). They said they would check them while repairs were being made. He called us and informed us brakes and rotors were needed. We declined to have them done now. About 2hrs later I get a call from Woody that the repair was ready. He informed me on the phone that there was a noise coming from the strut of my car, but that it was not a safety hazard&car is safe to drive. What he didn't mention over the phone was that it was making the SAME popping noise I had brought it in for. Upon leaving we notice same popping noise& turned around to bring it right back. I told Woody it was making the same pooping noise. He said YES now you need to change the struts& you need to do both sides. I was upset at getting a new $2100 quote. So I tell Woody that I am not a mechanic or a professional in this field, I told him that's why I paid for a diagnostic so I can be informed of the repairs needed to my car. Once I informed him the struts had just been repaired two months ago, he proceeded to say we can see that. But they are after market parts and are defective, both left &right struts need to be replaced. He proceeded to draw me a picture of a strut& bushings. It looked like an L shape. He said since the top is brand new& bottom was broken we thought it was the bottom so that's why we gave you that quote. These all work together so if the popping noise didn't get fixed with the first repair, now you need another one. Even after your picture it still didn't make sense to me. My first struts lasted me 6 years, why would I need to replace them after 2 months. I go to another shop& explain what just happened. Guess what....it didn't make sense to that mechanic either. They take the wheel off my car inspect the bushings that were just replaced& they were good, struts were good, but they noticed the SWAY BAR was broken. They flashed a light to it to show me. They informed us that this is what is causing the popping noise when I turn the steering wheel. The guy was so nice he told my husband it was less than $20 at an auto part and only had two screws. He told my husband to go get the part and fix it himself as it was an easy fix. This mechanic did not even charge us for the diagnostic and was an honest guy. Also, said that my oil sensor was broken and needed to be replaced. If the check engine light is not on the computer will not read it, but you can clearly see it needs to be replaced. WOW!!! So we did just that, went to OReilly bought the $20 part and fixed the popping noise. Now I feel taken advantage of by Sun Auto. I had already paid $300 towards the fuel tank repair so I figured since my gas tank is leaking, I will have them finish that repair and be done with this company. It was no surprise to me that I didn't get a follow up call in the morning regarding the fuel tank repair. I call to follow up and inform them I really would like to get in and have my gas tank repaired. No phone call until after 4:00 pm. I schedule to bring it in Wednesday morning. Upon arriving I notice the floors are still dirty. Same candy on the floor and dust everywhere. This is 3 DAYS LATER, totally unacceptable. Fuel tank is repaired in less than 2 hrs. I leave and will NEVER come back. Please seek second opinion as they will recommend repairs that are not necessary to fix true problems at hand. read more

My first time coming in was 8/18/2023 because I was having brake issues and they recommended new brakes and rotors, and also new shocks and serpentine belt. It was more then I want to pay but did the work anyways. salesperson- J- Newbiggin. 2nd time coming in was few months later for a check engine light on emissions. Was told i was my fuel pump, so I did ask are you sure cause this is alot of money and E-Gonzales said this will fix your issue, so we did the work. 11/27/23. Dec 9th check engine light came back on for same code Emissions, and was told a line to the fuel pump was pitched and it was fixed. Dec 11th check engine light came on again and I rushed it back to shop to be told it needed a software update which does not make since. I believe they finally found leak and fixed it. which means I was charged for a fuel pump I never needed. ($1,362.99). Dec 18th my front brakes and rotors just about caught fire and rotors were glowing and smoke so bad I could not see front of truck for minutes while it cooled down and lucky truck did not catch fire. I believe all this stuff that has happen with this shop is not a coincidence and my family is lucky we did catch fire and die. Dec 18th the shop warrantied front brakes and rotors but say both front calipers were bad, so of course I needed my truck fixed so we did the work and was charged for the labor when they had to take off calipers to get to brakes and rotors. ($349.00) labor crazy. After looking back I believe these 2 salespeople put my family in danger and have no clue what was wrong with my truck and lucky no one got hurt. I truly hope someone reaches out to me to make it all right. my starter conked out last night at a restaurant right by Sun auto on Craig so we push the car over to their lot and in the morning I went over and told them what it needed but to check it out they called me back and told me it needed a starter and it had a bad battery and I needed a battery and the starter and that the total cost is going to be about $1000 which I thought was really excessive so I asked them why so much they said well the battery was $259 is what it is at Sam's Club at batteries plus so I said don't put in a battery they fixed the starter, which may have not been the bad it may have been stuck but it needed to be replaced. They charged me $385 for a starter that I could've bought online for $80 or at, AutoZone or O'Reillys for 140 I don't mind marking up their parts a little bit like say double but triple is crazy and quadruple is unacceptable. This is my second time in the shop and the first time I thought it was a warranty issue because I had just purchased the car and it had an issue that the previous owner told me we could take to son auto and have repaired under warranty. It was a sensor that it gone out so he took it over there and I agreed to pay for the repair was not under warranty they said the sensor was fine that it was the wires for the sensor and charged me almost $700, I understand everything has gotten expensive but this is crazy. I won't be back there oh and by the way, I took the car to a battery shop and had my battery tested and it was fine so they were trying not to sell me that didn't charge me double for what it should've cost. read more

They take your money an perform poor service. I brought my 2003 Chevy venture in for an electrical issue. I was told by Ryan it was a harness issue. It would be $1k to perform the repair. They replaced one wire, not harness and upon pick up I still had the issue, Charlie the tech, said I would still need to install a sensor to fix my issued. I had to send my vehicle to the junk yard after they "repaired" it .They took all my money. I never understood why they said they harness was the issue and then blame it on a sensor. They are a money suck. I would stay away they are not trustwt or worth your time. They will steal you money. DON'T TRUST THEM!. Reply. I had the sensor replaced at Buick GMC after I left your shop. The reason I sent my van to the junkyard was because the dealership told me it wasn't worth the money I had put in. You had misdiagnosed my issue and I paid the price. Like I said. We stumbled upon Sun auto back in 2020 when we had troubles with our Jeep Grand Cherokee. The dealership kept giving us the runaround and in desperation we took it in to Sun Auto. This review however is for our 2009 GMC Sierra which had a mysterious electrical issue. Luis and Woody are awesome and very personable. The first day they had the truck they couldn't replicate the issue so when I came by to pick it up Luis dropped the $125 fee because they couldn't find anything. After leaving it another day Woody went to work researching the possible causes. Throughout the process we felt cared for and didn't think they were trying to bleed us for all our money. I would never recommend this company to do anything to someones car. My husband took my 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee to get an oil change. They finished the car and he left, not even 20 minutes later he noticed that it was leaking a lot of oil, so he took it back to get it fixed. They told him the seal was pinched and the problem was fixed. He then went home thinking it was fixed and everything was okay but boy was he wrong. We live about 30 minutes away from there and when he got home he noticed there was oil leaking AGAIN. He took it back to them again and they repaired it saying that it was the filter this time so they put in a new one. Not only did they waste his day by making him drive back and fourth, they wasted our money. Now we hope that it was just the filter and everything is fixed. Edit- He is now having to take it back for the 4th time for them to fix the same leak. I also have oil in many different places in front of my house and on my driveway.
